TGIFBATDW = Thank God It’s Friday Before A Three Day Weekend.

Hanging In The Hood
I met up with ITP-Reader “Martha” and her beau Jerry last evening at East Atlanta’s The Glenwood. Since I’ve stopped running and have been missing hashes due to many reasons I’ve lost touch with many of the ITP-Readers that I know IRL.

As I drove to the hood I saw ominous grey skies. However, I was happy to find that the rain had yet to start, the warm-weather weekly East Atlanta Farmers Market was still going, a bread seller was still there (I bought a loaf of country white and a loaf of pretzel bread), and that I scored a sweet parking space on Glenwood (huzzah for parallel parking skills!).

At The Glenwood I ate the night’s dinner special, blackened chicken tenderloin served over what could best be described as mac and cheese made with bowtie pasta and sprinkled with bleu cheese. Ahhhhh, health food! (okay, seriously, I need to start thinking a little more before I order.) After a few beers and conversation I ended the night with a mac-daddy espresso. The night was not cheap, but was quite relaxing so well worth it.

A Forgotten Thursday WTF!?
Yesterday morning I stopped at Einstein Bros Bagels in order to grab some coffee and a bagel. Imagine my surprise when I saw people running by wearing race numbers.

It was a Thursday morning and there was no holiday / event to which I could associate a race/run. WTF?

Will Get Woot! Again!!!
Well, I’ve gone and done it again. Yesterday I placed another order with Woot! Wine. This time I’ve ordered three bottles of 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon one each from three of Wellington Vineyards’ different vineyards. The price this go ’round was $55 plus the $5 for shipping.

Hey, don’t I have an expensive plumbing repair? Yeah, fuck it! I’m going to live it up while I can.

ITP Flickr Pic
New environment set up. The Soundgarden and Jewel Launch Interactive Magazines are from around 1995. I uncovered them in my bookcase upon moving.
Yesterday And Today
When I first started this job in 1996 we used to have MTV and MTV2 playing in our lab constantly. At that time Jewel was a fan favorite and there was a running joke that she was on the tv every time we entered the lab.

It’s The Economy Stupid!
I received my annual property tax assessment from Dekalb County yesterday. The verdict? According to the tax assessor my house is worth about $27,000 less this year than it was last year. W00t! Wait. W00t? At least my tax bill will be lower this year.

Have A Great Memorial Day Weekend Y’All Yous Guys
Ah, three-day weekends….. How I love you so. Unfortunately the weather forecast for the Atlanta area for this weekend looks a bit sketchy again, but I’m not going to let that keep me from going to Sunday’s Black Sheep hash, as well as Monday’s Atlanta Moonlite Hash to celebrate my tenth hashing analversary.

Whatever you wind up doing please do it safely. Too many people get injured on three-day weekends thanks to irresponsible drinking and driving (boating/motor cyling/gun firing/etc).

I’ll have a post up on Monday if you are around, if not, I look forward to interacting again on Tuesday.

Two words for you – Bad Monkey!

  2. Hahaha! My head hurts a little this morning, but nothing major.

  3. Barb says:

Is Martha a little hung over today????

Does the Monday nigh hash end at Sani’s like it used to every year? I can’t believe you’ve been hashing 10 years, but I guess I’m up to 15 or is it 16. I need to figure out when AH4 had #665 hash. I only remember that #, because #666, 667 & 668 were a combo hash all on one day, and I was happy it was my 2nd-4th hashes so I wasn’t getting named by the drunks after 3 sets of down-downs. It was in June, but I don’t know what year.

  4. Martha says:

after we left the Glenwood we swung by Graveyard so Jerry could have some wings…and a pitcher of Sweetwater seemed like a good idea at the time.

I do like the new space, I can see that being in the regular rotation.

  5. Steve says:

Sorry I was not responding yesterday- I was working in the Birmingham orifice.

Has it only been 10 years Paulie? Seems like a lot longer 🙂 And yes, I used to hang at Georges… I think Pushover invited me from the Thursday night pizza ride. And I knew Head Eunuch as a cyclist long before his hash life.

If you are making an effort to hash Monday night Paul, I may have to join you- if we can figure out the start.

And I was a little disapointed at the turnout for the Ride of Silence. CMB and Dipstick were there , but the overall turnout was maybe 40. There was no real signage or banner explaining what we were doing, so I’m guessing it just looked like a normal bike ride. Perhaps we need a lead vehicle, or a tandem with a nice banner…

Maigh, sign me up for whatever I need to do for next years ride. I’ll start by making sure all the 2 wheeled ITP readers show up… you know who you are, and so do I!!!

  6. Beth/Size says:

Paulie — I just realized that my 10 year hash anniversary is coming up too (Spring 2010) — it was a Marine Corps Hash (Pinelake) and I remember following Primer and Service for most of the trail until Niplets, who brought me to the hash, came back to make sure I hadn’t fallen into the creek. Barb, if I remember correctly ya’ll had just started dating and were holding hands during circle. Awwwww. I can not believe that its been 10 years. Jeesh.

  7. Barb says:

Service & I started dating in Aug. 1999 (after a Pine Lake/Wheelhopper campout…… once I figured out he wasn’t one of the Pride Lakers, heehee). Weren’t we cute way back when? Now we are just an old married couple.

  8. Beth/Size says:

Barb — you guys are still cute 🙂

  9. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Steve, I *will* be at the hash Monday night even if I finally manage to damage my knee on Sunday to the point that’ll need surgery.

Maybe I’ll kick it Old Skool and find out the start by calling (770) 455-6952. Is (was?) that the right number for the hareline?

  10. Steve says:

Now you’re taking me back… but remember, Sani was famous for not updating the hareline until late Monday afternoon…

  11. Terri (SW) says:

    Hey Beth…clock-watching yet???

  12. Beth/Size says:

Terri – we don’t get out until next week, although I’m finished teaching today (senior finals are today — 9-11 are Monday and Tuesday). Have fun at graduation tonight!

  13. Beth/Size says:

Whoops — I meant Tuesday and Wed b/c Monday is MD.

  14. Vic says:

    Hey Paulie,
I got some Krupp Brothers, Veraison Synchrony on WOOT a couple of weeks ago. Good stuff , and a really good deal. I may be exercising my rights again soon!
