I Should Have Lathered Up The Jackmobile

The Jackmobile is long overdue for a good washing. Days like today I often think that I should take a bucket of soapy water outside, and lather up the car right before taking off for work. Certainly a constant downpour of rain like we are experiencing today would rinse the car completely by the time I get to work.

Two Pedals Off, Two Pedals On
Last night I was able to extract the second pedal from the mountain bike. However, no amount of effort could get the pedals off my road bike. Ugh. I’m hoping that my Excalibur-like pedals come off on Saturday. If not, I’m hoping to fix the current pedals so that I can ride this weekend. Because we all know that this rain is going to pass…. right?

What’s This You Say? A New Apple Operating System?
Well, my plans to walk over to the mall to buy Snow Leopard may be washed away. This may be the best thing to happen me in a while. With a delay in purchase will come a delay in installation, which will in turn present a delay in frustration with the applications that no longer work. I’ll most likely buy my copy of Snow Leopard soon and sit on it for a little while.

Hello? Is There Anybody In There?
Why yes, this is another shot from the midtown photo stroll a few weeks ago.

There’s An App For That Atlanta Apt
Yesterday I did something that only the hipsters and people with way too much time on their hands do — I watched Apple iPhone tv commercials and took note of which applications were installed on the iPhones in the ads.

During one ad which highlighted an application one could use to find an apartment I noticed something familiar
There's An App For That Atlanta Apt
Well looky there, the “person” in the ad was searching for apartments in Atlanta. That’s like rolling a twenty on a twenty-sided die! *pushes glasses back up the bridge of nose*

After scanning about five ads I had added no fewer than five applications to my iPhone at the cost of about $10. Let’s see if any of these start to change my life significantly. Now before you scoff, let me remind you that an iPhone is really just a mini-computer and that the odds of any or all of these apps changing my life are far greater than if I had bought ten tickets for tonight’s Mega Millions drawing.

What’s With This Weather When I Want To Ride?
In addition to getting my pedals fixed I really hope that this rain clears out early this weekend. I won’t ride tomorrow in the rain, but I’m probably not smart enough to not ride on Sunday even if it’s raining.

hopefully this rain will pass………. and we will ride Sunday (Unless it is totally monsooning – that might make it just a 30 mile day).

Allan will get those pedals off – he’s had some tough ones in the past, but he said he has never been beaten.

  2. Martha says:

Allan may have to hold a mini-bike clinic this weekend. Actually my bike is all good, except I need new bar tape. That along with Jerry’s intervention should make for an interesting day at the spa.

I’d rather my car be caked in a layer of mud then have to make this morning’s commute again. It was so stressful, I almost turned around and went home.

  3. bob says:

I hope the rain passes too, I don’t want to get my new bike dirty. Either way, I cannot wait for the ride this weekend. 🙂

  4. Michelle says:

    What’s a ‘Snot Leopard Compatibility List’? : )

Drew and I will be joining the ‘campers’ at the day spa on Saturday. I too am hoping for no rain for the ride.

  5. Barb says:

oh yeah – all ITP-readers that are going to the day spa…… we are going to have to teach Jerry that spouses/significant others can not tell the other one things that have to do with athletics. ANYONE else can tell us/teach us, but we will not listen to the spouse/significant other. It is just the way it is.

  6. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

‘Snot’ Leopard is a clear indication that *somebody* needed more coffee before typing this morning! 😀

  7. Sal says:

I often wash my car in the rain…..especially when we were going through the drought and only if it wasn’t lightening.

Should be a fun week-end. I think chance of rain on the week-end is 30% at the moment but that can change.

Barb: when are you picking me up on Saturday?

  8. Martha says:

Just wait until you hear Jerry’s logic on the matter…it is quite entertaining. He was really good last Saturday, he didn’t say anything until after results where posted and I said it was okay to discuss (of course then he wouldn’t stop).

  9. debbie says:

Woohoo it’s the weekend… even if it is raining. Day Spa frivolity is weatherproof — really looking forward to it. Just wish Steve could be there with us. He’s enroute to Greenville in all this weather, with an unlathered car.

  10. Michelle says:

Paulie, I Googled ‘Snot Leopard’ and you aren’t the first one to make that typo. I’m sure that it will soon become derogatory slang for all those mac-haters out there!

  11. Barb says:

we plan to be to the Day Spa about 3pm tomorrow – so hopefully Allan can get the pedals fixed & we can go for a nice (non-rainy) ride.

  12. Excellent, I’ll make sure that I’m down there by that time.
