Seeking Inspiration

(This is no news flash, but) I’ve given up on dating, instead I’m looking for photographic inspiration. This weekend I’ll be attending a The Mindful Eye “Inspirational Weekend” workshop up in Nashville, Tennessee. I like going to Nashville and hope to make it a fun weekend — read all about it on Monday.

You may find it strange, but I’m also looking forward to the four-five hour drive as I’ll be able to listen to the rest of the audiobook “What Would Google Do?” I started listening to the other day.

My Progress Is Slowgress
I feel as if I’m moving at a snail’s pace these days. I have so many tasks to complete in a short amount of time, but each one is taking significantly longer than I had anticipated.

Today I’m hoping to order some business cards for the photography exhibit, and by next Monday I’m hoping to place an order for the prints that I want to sell.

Speaking of Monday, I also need to select a photo to submit for Monday’s Roswell Photographic Society critique; the category this month is the frustrating “Open” meaning that I can submit anything I desire as long as it was taken within the last twelve months.

Last weekend I went to this strange place called a “grocery” store. Inside this establishment they sold all sorts of raw ingredients. Who knew?!? So, I thought that I’d take a shot at making a dish from some of these raw ingredients using my crockpot.
Modified Beef Stew (Prepared)
This was a beef stew I made the other day. The original photographic plan was to make a diptych using a shot of the ingredients in the crockpot waiting to be cooked and this cooked image. However, I hated all of my “before” shots, so I scrapped that idea.

Another Five Seconds Of Fame, Well Recognition At Least
I’ve corresponded with Coverville once in a while, and occasionally have suggested songs to be played on the podcast. The other night while listening to Coverville episode #664 I heard a familiar cover of Billy Idol’s “White Wedding” and thought “Huh, I forgot to request that, I guess someone else did.” Was I somewhat surprised to hear Brian say “that was suggested by Paulie in Atlanta, Georgia.” Ha! I completely forgot that I had sent Coverville an email asking them to play that song.

What’s Going On With You This Weekend?
Leave me a comment, I’d really like to know.

I have not a single plan for the weekend, which is lovely. It’s the first day in two weeks I actually feel like a human being again, so there may be a beer or two in my future. Other than that? Eh.

Speaking of…if you ever need some help making that Taco Mac goal, I’d be happy to be a good influence there.

You failed to mention if the stew tastes as good as it looks (and it looks darn good!)

    Safe travels to Nashtown!

  2. re: my stew — Well, you know that I don’t like to brag. 🙂 Next time I’ll use fewer ingredients however. This one had celery, onion, zucchini, sweet potatoes, carrots, green peppers, mushrooms, and meat in addition to a can of condensed mushroom soup and a packed of french onion dip mix.

Taco Mac planning sounds great! Which Taco Mac would be the best for us to meet up?

Feeling like a human again? I assume you’ve been getting killed by the pollen?

Sort of big weekend. I’m on my own tonight, so I may do yoga (I need to stretch more) or head to the gym for a bit. Tomorrow I’ll be in Woodstock for the Garage Games, we’ve got four teams competing, it’s going to be fun!

Saturday night we’ve been invited to a birthday party…she’s turning 22! We were told to ‘get there early’, you know by 10 pm…it’s going to be a long night.

Not sure about Sunday, maybe an easy recovery run and just hanging out, thinking about heading to the dog park and maybe (finally) getting the garden planted.

Barb, in the next week or two I’ll have a couple of squash plants for you.

  4. Barb says:

We’ve only got biking plans, somewhere with the mountain bikes Saturday, but not sure what time, Allan is afraid he might have a long, annoying night with the “threat” of Freaknic (or ifreaknik). The city has gone crazy trying to be sure there is no trouble.

Then – Wheelhopper is Sunday in Sandy Springs.

there of course is the never ending yard work, Allan is re-arranging the yard, moving bushes, etc.

  5. I’m obviously putting off any gardening until next week/weekend. It’s going to be interesting to see how much my yard grows before I can get back to it.

House/Yard repair resumes upon my return.

On Monday I’m planning on rescheduling my deck washing/staining (hoping the worst of the pollen has passed us).

  6. Barb says:

What? Laura has the evening free, without Jerry? What’s up with that?
I’m planning to go meet some friends at Wild Wing, the patio is having it’s offical opening tonight & my friends A1A are playing. I’ll most likely be home by 10pm.

  7. Stacy says:

It’s ONLY the pollen now, thank God! But for the past two weeks, I had the most disgusting pinkeye imaginable (hey! I don’t have kids! I shouldn’t get this crud!) and some lung nastiness that was “bordering on walking pneumonia.” Anti-biotics have been my friend lately.

Now, I can only blame the pollen for my oozing eyeballs. 🙂 Lovely, huh? Just how long DOES the pollen season last anyway? I don’t remember it being this bad last year!

  8. Eww. There seems to be an abundance of weird sicknesses this year. I know that I’ve had more than my fair share.

The pollen wasn’t as bad last year. I looked on weather.com last week and the highest count we had last year was 1500 (if I remember correctly), and this year we’ve been over 5000 at least one day in April.

  9. I failed to mention that I’m hoping the Jackmobile makes this trip without problems. It’s overdue for an oil change and may need a brake job soon.

Also, I’ve named the new GPS — she’s named “Julie.”

  10. Barb says:

its a Honda, you should be fine……. just check the oil level to be sure you still have enough.

  11. Stacy says:

A1A! I remember seeing them. They’re good! Too bad Marietta is so far away now. 🙁

Speaking of Marietta, there’s a girl on America’s Next Top Model this season from Marietta. I’ll tell ya: by the way she goes on about it? You’d think it was Atlanta’s biggest ghetto.

  12. Barb says:

hey Stacy – some parts of Marietta could be considered ghetto…… when we were riding our bikes not too far from the Marietta Square we came across some projects last year. they closed them down this last fall/winter. I’ll have to ask my co-worker about ANTM, she is all into that show.

  13. RanLiCoop says:

We’ve got Sani coming up from the ATL, along with Steve, Max, Autumn and Autumn’s friend Alana coming in from Buffalo for the weekend. Should be a full one…

  14. Martha says:

Yep, a night to myself, it will be great. Sometimes I miss my solo Friday nights. He’s running with CRR in Smyrna @ 7:30 and I’m meeting the team @ 7 so it just makes sense to stay at our own places tonight, plus he’ll have his new TV to play with….

According to the AJC, the pollen count peaked last year at 3,583 on April 6. Really, at that point it doesn’t matter, over 120 is considered extreme. Knock on wood, my allergies got better when I moved to Atlanta. No weird illness for me but I’ve been fighting some nagging ‘injuries’ for the past six weeks.
