Where’s My Wisdom?

With age comes wisdom, right? Where’s mine? If I had been blessed with wisdom I wouldn’t feel as groggy as I do right now.

No Plans To Eat At Home, Why Did I Buy So Much Bread?
Because of my scheduling I know that I won’t be making any food at the house so I can’t figure out why I purchased two loaves of bread at the East Atlanta Farmers Market last night.

I love the concept of the mini farmers market at which I can get bread, cheese, and vegetables. In fact, I dream of a life in which I live close enough to work and a market so that I could purchase produce and make delicious dinners at home.

Another reason for my desire to make it out to the farmers market last night was to consume another popsicle from the King of Pops. Last night I ate a blueberry/watermelon popsicle which was rather delicious. The popsicles sold by King of Pops are subtly flavored and quite refreshing. I implore you to try one if you happen to find yourself in the vicinity of the King of Pops pushcart.

One Night Only — SOLD OUT
WTH. I met up with some friends last night to partake in the Taste of East Atlanta. We started with a prelube at Holy Taco where I had three Fat Tires (kids, this is not the way to start a long evening) before I requested that we wander and sample some food.

At the Taste of East Atlanta you were to buy tickets which you would exchange for food/drink samples from the participating restaurants/bars in East Atlanta Village. Oddly, the main ticket tent had been shut down with a sign which read SOLD OUT. We crossed the street to another venue which was selling tickets and were informed that they had to stop selling tickets because restaurants were running out of samples; this was about ninety minutes before the event was supposed to end!

With no chance of sampling I commanded us to head to Midway Pub where I finally ate some food (delicious veggie corn dogs) and had some more beer.

The evening ended back at Holy Taco with more beverages.

Is it any wonder why the blog is late today?

Thanks to Betsy, Terri, and Leigh Ann for helping my birthday be a lot of fun.

ITP Flickr Pic
None today. Hell, I’m somewhat surprised I’m able to produce text this morning. I had planned on taking a photo of each food sample I consumed, but since I never got any I didn’t take any photos. Had I taken a photo of each beer I consumed I’d be uploading photos all day.

A Lot Of Live Music And Photography On My Agenda
Tomorrow morning I’ll be participating in the third annual World Wide Photowalk organized by Scott Kelby. I’ve chosen to join the group up in Roswell since I’ve never shot up in that area before.

Sandwiching my photowalk will be live music. Tonight I’ll be joining my friend Kevin at Variety Playhouse for the Grace Potter and the Nocturnal show. Tomorrow night I’ll be making a return to Eddie’s Attic for the Chatham County Line show.

  1. Barb, I just saw your last comment about the King of Pops on yesterday’s blog entry. He (the King of Pops) seems to be getting a lot of press lately. I don’t know how much profit one makes on selling popsicles for $2.50 each, but I’m thinking that the guy is at least making a living and seems to be enjoying himself in the process.

  2. Terri (SW) says:

    I have a pic from last night…:)

  3. Barb says:

well – if he is selling them at $2.50 a pop, he’s got a really decent profit margin going. And – I wonder how he reports this income? Hmmmm. They said he got laif off forma n insurance job or some sort of corporate thing, and he’s enjoying this, so he may never got back to the office world.

I figured you were “groggy – aka hung over” this morning. Glad you had a fun time on your birthday outing at least.

Did you at least bring your loaves of bread to the office to snack on?

where are you photo strolling in Roswell?

  4. Barb says:

    I can’t type & I didn’t even really drink last night.

  5. The one in which I’m wearing your hat and I look like a drunk Canadian indie rocker? 🙂 I was looking for that on Facebook while I was writing today’s blog.

Actually, I just remembered that I ate about a half of the baguette last night. Whoops! The rest of the bread is at home because I thought that it would go stale by Monday.

Tomorrow we’re starting really early at the river (free-standing hearth here I come!) before the official start of the photowalk and then having breakfast at the Southern Skillet. The actual photowalk is going to occur in “Historic” Roswell, followed by lunch at J. Christopher.

  6. Martha says:

Sorry I missed you last night. I made it to the gym but I was wasted after the workout, man it was hot. From what I’ve read on the buzz, Taste of EAV was a little too popular, too many people and not enough food. It also sounds like I had no chance of keep up with you party animals either. I hope you had a happy birthday dinner!

  7. I haven’t read the recap on The Buzz yet. I’m sure that will provide an entertaining read.

Sorry you didn’t make it out Martha. I did see Sharon and Sam, Jenka’s hubby David (though I never saw Jenka herself), and my Black Sheep cohare Gina last night.

Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz are being show at the Tour today. Must be nice to have enough money to vacation in Bordeaux during the Tour de France.

  8. Stacy Fox says:

Sorry about your Taste of Atlanta Experience. However, it did allow for a tweet that made me laugh out loud. 🙂

  9. Oh boy, now I know just how drunk I was last night — I have no recollection of tweeting that.

  10. Barb says:

I think you should climb up thru the kudzu to get to that hearth.

I’ve never eaten at that Southern Skillet – I look forward to a review. I have eaten at that J Christopher – it was tasty too. You should be nice & filled up on food doing both those spots in the same day.

  11. I’m looking forward to trying the Southern Skillet. I’ve eaten at, and have enjoyed, J. Christopher’s in the past (in Decatur) so I think it’ll be a good day of eating. Hell, I’ll probably end the day at Farm Burger in Decatur for dinner.

Weather permitting I’ll punish myself with a long bike ride somewhere non-hash-related on Sunday.

  12. HAHAHA! I don’t look much less photographic than the self-portrait I took yesterday morning.

And for all of you wondering about the gray chest hairs — they’re real.

  13. Martha says:

I’ve ate at J.Christopher once, the one in Smyrna. The food was good, I had waffles! However, when I went to pour the syrup on said waffles, I discovered (the hard way) that the lid was not screwed on the pitcher. I ended up with warm maple syrup all over me and the booth.

They were super nice, moved us to a new booth, new food and comped the meal.

We don’t make it out too much for breakfast but when we do we like to hit Stone Soup if we are at my place.

  14. Barb says:

Paulie – why not come to Wheelhopper on Sunday for a ride with us? 1:00pm start gives you plenty of time to recover from the night before, and for $10 you get burgers, dogs, crappy snacks & beer! You don’t have to get (nekkid, in fact, probably no one will) into the pool – there are always a few that just hang around & sit in the shade.

  15. Vic says:

    Paulie,

Thanks for turning me on to Grace Potter! I’ve been watching/listening to her youtube videos(don’t tell my boss).

I may have to try to go to that tonight. I was halfway planning to go to Cowboy Junkies tomorrow night. Hmmmm…

    Vic

  16. I’ll consider the Wheelhopper Barb. It might depend on how long it takes for me to complete the two week’s worth of laundry I’ve been collecting for washing.

No problem Vic. If you go to the show and happen to see me tonight please say hello and thank Kevin for he’s the one who turned me on to Grace Potter. (your secret is safe with me)

  17. Barb says:

and – another plus for you Paulie – if you ride with me, you will never be the slowest one……..
