September 2010 Can Go Eff Itself!

September 1: I was sick.
September 3: The Jackmobile’s transmission died.
September 5: I cut myself over my right eye while trying to pick up a bar of soap in a hotel shower.
September 7: The rental car I’m renting mysteriously obtains a large scratch while parked in a hotel parking lot. The only reason I’m renting a car and it was in this parking lot was to make up for the fact that the Jackmobile’s transmission problem.

Wtf is going to happen on September 9th, the day I’m supposed to drive back to Boulder, get the Jackmobile back and launch my return drive home to Atlanta?

According to American Express their rental car agreement will pay up to my insurance deductible, then it’s up to me to determine if I want to file a claim against my auto insurance policy or pay the balance out of pocket.

Spiritually I am spent. Financially I am much worse off than I was before embarking on this trip. Every time I’ve tried to do “the right thing” the past few days I’ve been shat upon. I’m not sure how much more I can take.

This May Be The Last Post Of The Week
I’m not sure if I’ll have time to post tomorrow or Friday as, if things return to “normal” I’ll be driving many, many, hours. This will not make for great blogging and I’m sure all I’ll want to do when not driving is sleep.

it’s 9 hours to Kansas City, then 3.5 hours from there to STL, then about 9 or a little more to ATL. (well, that is the times when you drive with Allan, taking very time for gas/food/bathroom breaks). It will be a long couple days, I’m guessing you do have an couple more audio books to listen to?

I am predicting (well hoping) you have a very uneventful drive home.

did you get to drink a tasty beer & have a good dinner last night?

  2. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I’m going to try two 12 hour drives, losing to hours to time zone changes as well. Last night was okay, though I wasn’t feeling very well.

  3. Steve says:

I don’t know if it’s worth the effort to have the hotel check their security video to see if they caught the asshat who keyed the car. A police report couldn’t hurt.

    I feel bad for you…

I thought about that, but didn’t see any cameras in the area.

Thanks, I don’t know why I have to deal with all if this, but I do. 🙁

“Thanks, I don’t know why I have to deal with all if this, but I do.”

  6. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

    Well played, sir.

  7. Barb says:

damn Niplets – you just made me have to think today.

I found pictures of Paulie almost looking like he was having fun in colorado…… trail pics that he did looked tough (but very scenic)

  8. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Trails on both days were beautiful. Saturday’s trail (if I am wearing tights) was up in Boulder Canyon. Sunday’s trail (if I am wearing shorts) was closer to Boulder with more ascending/descending.

  9. Barb says:

I hope you have the car back by now & are on the road……. & all is going well…….

  10. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Just now leaving. Car was keyed again last night! I filed reports with hotel and police.

  11. Barb says:

wow – keyed again? that is crazy. someone must hate Altimas.

  12. Barb says:

hope you made it past Kansas City yesterday – since I can’t get on FB (or Twitter) – I don’t know if you have updated us at all!

  13. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Made it to KC last night. Just passed through Columbia, MO.
