Another Hectic And Stressful Day

Ack, I have soooooo much to do before this weekend, and a relatively stressful weekend ahead as well. I could really use a few days alone at home, catching up on the millions of things I need to do. It’d also be helpful if I weren’t hobbling around on a gimpy toe when doing so.

How Many Times Will Paulie Have To Change A Light Bulb?
Notice the subtle difference from the similar question I posed the other day.

I jumped into the Jackmobile last night after eating yet another disappointing dinner out and it happened again — the “Brake Lamp” idiot light came on. FML! I drove home with the brake light out, rammed a tree stump onto the brake pedal and confirmed that the same light I replaced the other day had gone out. I wound up replacing the “new” light bulb with another of the light bulbs I conveniently had in my trunk. Let’s see how long this bulb lasts.

It’s amazing to me how I’ve gone from loving the Jackmobile to seriously considering getting a new car in a matter of three weeks. If not for the desire to avoid monthly auto payments again (because that sort of money is earmarked for house repairs) I’d be jumping at the thought of getting a new car immediately.

This was as close as I could get to the Crazy Horse monument.
Crazy For Crazy Horse
Sadly I doubt that I will live long enough to see this monument completed. This is as far as the father (now passed) and son team have gotten in over thirty years.

if cooking up at the campout stresses you out so much, why do you agree to do it?

hey – we’ve been watching the Great Food Truck Race on the Food Network, I thought maybe you watched it since you have this love of food trucks. One of the trucks (nom nom) serves banh mi sandwiches.

  2. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Normally cooking at Hartwell is stressful because the kitchen is not meant for production cooking. Why do I continue? First, because I rarely cook any longer. second, because people genuinely seem to enjoy the food I make — of course they are all drunk by then. 😉

I’ve seen commercials for that show, but have yet to see it.

  3. Martha says:

Looks like I won’t be available to help you cook this weekend, sorry. I just have so much going on the next few weeks…plus the uncertainty of the situation in Ciny.

I also need to swing by Lam’s and let them have a look at my super, special hissing car, when I drive it sounds like the entire car has sprung a leak…plus the brakes are due for some work.

Barb, I saw you post about a pedi, I can’t do it tonight (yoga), if you don’t go tonight let me know maybe we can figure another day.

Paulie, where was dinner last night and why was it disappointing? I’m so bored with food right now, I need something different, I really want to cook but I can’t figure out what or when to do it.

  4. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Sorry you won’t be at Hartwell, Martha but it’s completely understandable.

I ate at a Chinese buffet which used to have decent food, but lady night I was the only person in the joint at 6:30 and the food looked like it had been out for some time. I should have left immediately, but I was completely unmotivated last night.

  5. Martha says:

Speaking of food…I had the BEST fried chicken this weekend. I’m not a big fried chicken fan but WOW, the lodge chicken at The Greenbrier was just amazing, they served it was some really good mac&cheese. I can’t imagine how much I would weigh if I was there for the week. There is a bright side, I will not want friend chicken ever again, for I fear nothing will ever live up to what I had (twice) over the weekend.

  6. Barb says:

Martha – glad you had some good food (& good times) up there, I’m pretty sure that is the place that Condo was a chef for a while. There is a place in Roswell called Greenwood’s (across the street from Swallow in the Hollow) – that has some excellent fried chicken & mac n cheese. It could rival it.

Hope your car is okay, I guess it is the season for car repairs. I need a new catalytic convertor, but it isn’t urgent, I’m just getting crappier gas mileage for a while until I need to get the car in for something else. Lam said to wait so I can lump it in with a tune-up or something to save on the labor charges.

I’m meeting a friend over by perimeter mall for the pedi tonight, so give me a few weeks, and I’ll be ready to go again. The beach & lake weekends I’ve had have destroyed my feet.

hey Paulie (or anyone else) – have you ever eaten at Wildfire at Perimeter mall? my firend that I’m meeting wants me to go there after the pedi.

  7. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I’ve never been to Wildfire, it always seems to fancy for me.

  8. Steve says:

Barb, I guess the pedi ruled out the bike ride tonight, or did you not get my text last night?

I got a recall notice on my Mazda last night… power steering assist might fail.. this should be exciting!

    -FP

  9. Barb says:

I checked out the menu at Wildfire – a little on the pricy side, but at least you get one side with your entree (so it isn’t super upscale).

Their lounge specials end at 6pm, that’s a bummer, half priced appetizers would be a good deal.

  10. Barb says:

Steve – never got a text from you last night – I wonder who you sent it to?
I should bike ride, I haven’t ridden in forever (except the cruisers this past weekend in Savannah) – but I can’t bail on the pedi at this late point – my friend would kill me.

  11. Steve says:

I sent it to you, but I was in sketchy service land. I thought my phone would have held it and sent it when it had a good signal, but who knows.

I have my bike and will be riding at Georges… and hopefully blowing the crap out of my lungs!
