It’s April 6th In Atlanta And I Still Had To Use My Heat

This morning my house clocked in at 63ร‹ลกF, which when under my layers of warm bedding is fine, but when I am required to get out of said bed and shower is not. I turned on the heat. I read that later this week our high temperatures are to reach the mid-80s. I guess I’ll have to learn how to use that fancy-pants thermostat I installed for cooling.

Cheating On My Taco Mac
I worked until a little past 7pm last night. I decided that I wanted to visit a Taco Mac, but that I wanted to change things up by going to the one in The Prado (traffic is so light this week that I gambled on taking I-285 to Roswell Road). Thankfully I was able to drink two new draft beers, because there wasn’t much else going for that location. There were some pretty, and taken, women customers — but not many. Most of the waitstaff were dudes. While they have a million tvs it seemed as if no one understood what should be on them — Why didn’t any of the tvs above the bar show have the Braves game? And when one was finally set to show it, that was changed not fifteen minutes later. And worst of all, I sat at my table and waited nearly ten minutes before my server (a dude) arrived to greet me — I was thirty seconds away from walking out.

Will I return to The Prado? Yeah, but not until I’ve worn out my welcome at the Perimeter location.

Should this section still exist? Damn it’s been a long time since I’ve had the passion to take photos. Maybe it’s time to inject passion back in to my life.

It Wasn’t Easy
I don’t know how you vegetarians do it. I guess that you stick together to make restaurant selection easier. I went out with coworkers for lunch yesterday who kept suggesting places in which meat was the main attraction. We finally settled on getting Thai food, where I had a tofu and mixed vegetable dish. I probably shouldn’t get full points for a vegetarian day as I also ate the Tom Yum soup which had chicken in it, though I did not eat any of the chicken pieces.

For dinner I had a “hamburger” for which I had them substitute a spicy black bean patty for the meat. I figured that I was safe getting the french fries as a side, and knew that the beer I ordered contained no meat of course. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ll be back to eating meat today as I’ve brought in some to devour for lunch.

Going Topless
It’s Wednesday. For the past three months Wednesday meant Top Chef night. However, while there will be a Top Chef reunion and the premiere episode of Top Chef Masters (which starts a 11pm EDT!) on tonight I shall be recording them instead of be viewing them. ITP-Reader Betsy, if you want to resume Top Chef (Masters) night starting next week, we can discuss.

Coconut charcoal? like Allan needs any more things to buy…..

You should have gone next door to the 5 Seasons Brewery – they have some tasty beers & food.

  2. I figured you’d notice the coconut charcoal Barb. ๐Ÿ™‚

I thought about going to 5 Seasons but I am focused on reaching my Masters Degree at Taco Mac. As of today I am “only” fourteen beers away (I think, since my ordered list of beers doesn’t show me how many items are in the list).

    Happy Anniversary Barb!

Steve and I were talking over the weekend how it must be tough to have a mixed marriage – vegetarian and meat eater – for just that reason. It’s tough to pick restaurants. Steve’s starter wife is a vegetarian, so he must know of what he speaks. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. I guess Bob and Laura would be our Subject Matter Experts on mixed-marriages.

    Happy anniversary Barb

Being in a mixed-marriage is not that tough. It really depends on what kind of vegetarian you are married to. Laura will handle meat and even cook it for me and Travis but will just not eat it. Most restaurants in a metro area will have something on the menu for her too, we run in to problems out in the country. Up in nowhere ville South Carolina when we visit my mother they think vegetarians only eat salads.
I think there has been only one restaurant that we have walked out of because of nothing there for Laura to eat.

Mixed veggie-carnie marriages are so much easier when one half converts… ๐Ÿ™‚

Actually met up with a former omnivore last night who has now switched to match his wife’s veggie lifestyle. He is three weeks in and reports that he is actually enjoying it. For anyone considering the switch, he mentioned that watching Food, Inc. helped him reach the breaking point.

  7. Randy says:

    Ooops, almost forgot:

    Happy Anniversary Barb & Allan!

  8. Barb says:

thanks for the anniversary wishes – it’s only been 9 years, but as Allan’s says, its been forever.

We are hoping to find a place for a weekend anniversary party for the 10th – so pencil in a weekend in April somewhere next year.
Since the place up in Dahlonega is gone, I’m looking at/for some other options. Of course, this time everyone will ahve to pay for their own booze (& I wonder if I can find Delicato wine still?) & food, but it would be fun to try to find a place to all hang out for a weekend.

  9. Randy says:

Barb, I believe Lisa Cheese and Paulie would pay you to keep Delicato away from any celebration they might be a part of ๐Ÿ˜‰

  10. Delicato? I am unfamiliar with that brand. Remember, Barb and Allan got married back in the days when I didn’t drink alcohol and I was getting laid by all the pretty girls.

Does anyone else smell the smell of pants being on fire? ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Barb says:

Paulie – I can smell the burning over here in Marietta.

  12. Barb says:

and – you just made me think I need to track down my old friend Erin…….

  13. Stacy Fox says:

I understand there is a Taco Mac under half a mile from my soon-to-be new home. I sense a plan forming in my head….whattayathink? ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Steve says:

Maybe we can do a camp out weekend at Suches?? That’s kinda close to the original wedding site. And Stacy, your new digs are real close to 2 Taco Mac’s, Midtown and Va-Hi. Midtown is crawling distance… ๐Ÿ™‚

    Woo hoo! 23 more days….
