If You Don’t Have Anything Good To Say…

[this space left blank intentionally]

Cheers,
Paulie [eat/ga]

Okay, let’s just say that yesterday wasn’t the successful launch of “Awesome December 2011” that I planned. This day of fail included ordering a beer without inquiring its price and being surprised when I received my bill to find its price was $11.75. Huh. “What single 11.2 ounce beer costs $11.75?” you ask? “A Schneider Aventinus Eisbock!” I answer.

I’m trying to whip a bit of a cold I started coming down with yesterday and working from home today. I hope to see some of you at Wild Heaven Red Hare tomorrow.

Cheers again,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

I feel silly for even asking this…. was it WORTH $11.75? Or, at the very least, somewhat tasty?

  2. It was off-putting at first, but then I started to enjoy it. It’s definitely not something I’d order again (at any price) however.

Here’s the description from their website:

“Stronger than strong. Powerful aromas and an intense flavor.

Mahogany, nearly black Eisbock. The aroma reminds of ripe plums with a hint of bitter almonds and marzipan displaying strong characteristics of banana and clove. It is full and warming on your palate.
The ideal digestive after a great dish.”

  3. This just in: The Jackmobile may be getting free airbag work.

TOKYO รขโ‚ฌโ€ Honda Motor Co. is recalling 304,000 vehicles globally for air-bags that may inflate with too much pressure in a crash, send metal and plastic pieces flying and cause injuries or deaths.

The Japanese automaker announced the recall Friday, which affects the Accord, Civic, Odyssey, Pilot, CR-V and other models, manufactured in 2001 and 2002.

The Jackmobile is a 2002 Accord.

  4. bob says:

Over inflated airbags? I know a few of those ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Barb says:

what is Wild Heaven tomorrow? did you rename the Red Hare Brewery?

  6. Wild Heaven is at the intersection of Delk and 285. ๐Ÿ™‚ I should have typed Red Hare instead.

Actually, Wild Heaven is another local brewery, currently brewing their beers out of state but looking to get a space in Decatur to set up their operations.

  7. Jenka says:

Dice ordered that beer at the Midway once. He said it was interesting, but he couldn’t finish it an ended up dumping about a third of it out into the vegetation. Heh.

  8. Steve says:

“bitter almond”?? That’s normally the description for cyanide.

Back in lovely Birmingham- hopefully I have brought enough working equipment to beat down any remaining problems here.

As far as I know, it will be a quiet weekend at JEFDSDR. I will be moving out some bales of bad hay to make room for some good hay. Our temporary resident Maxwell Smart is getting vetted on Sunday- the buyer is flying in her vet (more money than sense). And hopefully, I’ll get some road miles in.

A lovely weekend to all- Paulie, don’t work too hard.

I finally made it into the office only to find out email is down, there goes any chance I had of getting something done before my long weekend.

You may luck out, there were several recalls on 2001 Escapes, I think I was only affected by one or two of them. Seems like 300,000 may be a small percetage of those cars sold.

Steve, we will be down in your neck of the woods this weekend. We are spending Saturday and Sunday night in/around Pine Mountain. We decided to stay Sunday night, figuring neither of us are going to be up for driving back after PM40.

  10. Thanks Steve, so far there has been no evidence of overwork today. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hope you get that situation in B’ham fixed.

Good luck at Pine Mountain Martha. Sorry I didn’t get your stuff back to you this week.

  11. Steve says:

Good Luck Martha!! Be carefull on those rocks, which I think is most of that trail!

  12. Jenka says:

Good luck, Martha and Jerry! I’m sure you’ll ROCK IT. (Pun intended.)

This reminds me, I have a couple servings of turnip and pasta casserole frozen for you. When are you leaving tomorrow? I could drop it by beforehand and you could have food in the fridge for when you return.

  13. Martha says:

Thanks everyone, I’m sort of freaking our now…

Jenka, we aren’t leaving until 2 or 3 tomorrow afternoon, I or Jerry should be around most of the day until then.

Paulie, if you get a phone call and all you can hear is a wimper, that would be me requesting my heating pad, otherwise, no problem ๐Ÿ™‚
