If At First You Don’t Succeed

“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” Has always been one of my mother’s favorite sayings. I don’t think she ever imagined that I’d be using it in reference to the fact that I decided not to do laundry last night, but instead head to Taco Mac for a few beverages with co-workers. Maybe tonight I’ll do laundry at the hipster laundromat across from Manuel’s Tavern (man, for some reason it took me an inordinate amount of time to remember the name for Manuel’s. This seems to be happing to me more often these days. That’s kinda scary. I must need to do more crossword puzzles to sharpen my mind.) and scope out any lonely hipster chicks who are also doing laundry on a Friday night.

I’m Taking A Daily Challenge
Recently I heard about a website called Daily Challenge (would have been a “Website of the Day” had I resurrected that this week instead of next). The premise of Daily Challenge is that each morning they email you a simple challenge that you must perform that day. Today’s daily challenge is “Bite Your Tongue: Pledge not to complain about anyone today.”).

I’m in, nothing but positive comments today (and theoretically from now on).

Double Delivery!
Amazon came through yesterday and delivered my new Roku 2 XS to me. Cool. I know one task that I’ll be completing this weekend…

Also in the post yesterday was my package from Coverville containing a dvd of past podcasts as well as my the newest t-shirt to my collection. This booty is part of my reward for being a Coverville Citizen. If you happen to see me out and about wearing my new t-shirt be sure to let mw know how smart I look while wearing it. 😉

ITP Flickr Pic
Okay, one final photo from Cheddarhead 2012.

Our gracious hosts for the day.

Bye Bye Radioshift
For a couple of years I’ve been using a trial version of a Mac application called Radioshift to record WABE’s broadcast of “A Prairie Home Companion” (since no podcast of the entire show is available). The trial version injects audible static noise into the recording after twenty minutes, to encourage you to buy the full-fledged version. This week I finally decided that I man-up and purchase the full-fledged version, only to find out that Rogue Amoeba, the maker of Radioshift, stopped selling the program at the end of 2011. Bummer.

If you know of a Mac application which can schedule the recording of internet streaming audio, I’d certainly like to hear about it.

Jumping Back Onto the Stanford iOS Development Class Wagon
After only viewing three of the seventeen classes available my training train jumped the track. Tonight I’m am going to get myself back on track and start watching the iOS classes again. (Hey, I find this subject matter enjoyable! Remember “Bite Your Tongue: Pledge not to complain about anyone today.”) It’s like my mother has always said “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.”

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

    lovely photo of me…….

so- a friend calls & tells me last night that they are moving to St. Croix, and as a result, are planning to sell most of their stuff & walk away from the house. they talked to the bank, convinced them it is a hardship case of some sort so they don’t get their credit ruined. Interesting turn of events, they have lots of stuff for sale, they want Allan to buy the air hockey table, and we do need a new fridge.

  2. It’s been on the internet all week, I figured you wouldn’t mind showing it off here. 😉

Wow, that’s interesting. To me it seems a tough sell to say moving to St Croix is a “hardship” but if they can pull it off… You need an air hockey table. 🙂

  3. Barb says:

I dont’ care about the pic…. maybe I’ll make it a FB profile pic – who knows?

We do NOT need an air hockey table, but, when has that ever mattered? I’ll lowball the airhockey table $$ since I don’t think we need it.

figuring out a fair price for the fridge is the tough part.

  4. Eh, I know that you don’t need the air hockey table, I’m just poking fun. Looks like it’s just the two of us today. I wonder if Steve and Debbie made it back from the hills. I almost feel out of touch no longer being on Facebook and Twitter.

It’s been hard trying to follow through with today’s Daily Challenge.

  5. Jenka says:

Martha’s been fairly active on Facebook, although I haven’t seen her since the evening we left on our trip. I think she’s busy, and also Jerry and she are starting a new training and nutrition regime that I’m sure takes up a lot of her attention. My new training and nutrition regime consists of “start exercising again and stop eating chocolate.” Harder than it sounds!

  6. Barb says:

    I already lost today’s challenge…….

Jenka – what a great regime – I may have to try that.

  7. Facebook? Pffffft! 🙂

    Thanks for the update, Jenka.

  8. Steve says:

My apologies for not reportingin sooner…we were out to lunch with Debbie’s family. The science museum was fun. Lots of minerals and such, lots of dinosaurs, some old cars and motorcycles. Would be great with kids…. we’ll do the western museum another day.

Just go back from 30 miles into the wind… not recommended.
