Sleepy Head

Dammit! I shut my alarm clock off at 5:00am this morning and promptly went back to sleep. I arose again at 6:15am, which meant I was going to start my day at least an hour later than I desired. I essentially slept as long as my walk time.

And today was the day I was vowing to “start over” to improve my life…

Today’s Daily Challenge
Pledge to get more zzzs (7 to 9 hours of sleep) tonight.

How much sleep we get impacts our overall well-being. Our bodies use sleep to process and store memories, repair cells, and release hormones (the body’s natural chemical messengers) that regulate appetite and up bone density. There is evidence that chronic sleep deprivation may lead to significant health problems, like heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Sleep needs are individual: You may feel rested and function well on just seven hours of sleep a night, while another person your age and gender has to get nine hours a night to feel her or his best. However, most experts agree that adults, even as they get older, need at least seven to nine hours of continuous, uninterrupted sleep each night to function properly.

Ironic since I am complaining about getting too much sleep.

One For Two
Twice this morning I was stopped on my walk and asked for directions to somewhere in the Perimeter Mall area. I was one-for-two, not knowing the office the first man was asking about but I redeemed myself by being able to guide the second inquirer to Starbucks.

Late Start Probably Going To Make A Farmers Market Stop Impossible
I’ve missed the East Atlanta Farmers Market the past three weeks. I want to get back into the habit of stopping there for goodies and then heading out for a meal and beverage afterwards. Unfortunately I’ll have to work “late” tonight because I got off to a late start this morning.

  1. Steve says:

Time to move the alarm clock across the room.

I could tell last night during my run that even though it was hot, 2 weeks of no running shows up really quickly. I’d call last night more of a run/walk.

its gonna be a hot ride Saturday – we will need to cut it short or find some gas stations/places to get water along the way. I survived 68 last wekend in the heat (but we had 3 or 4 store stops). I’m okay with riding as far as we feel like, heat doesn’t kill me, we just will need water………

How hot is the pool? Is it bathwater yet? I hope not.

Canada Day hash Sunday is on our list of things to do.

Debbie & Steve – do we need to bring any breakfast fixins for Sunday morning?

  3. Let me know what to bring for Sat and Sun (other than what I’ll need for the ride).

Your reference to Sunday’s hash got me to log on to Black Sheep and Atlanta’s websites for the first time in about a year. Wow, has it really been three years since Dribbles’ fall? If the start to Sunday’s hash ever gets posted I might actually run it (though I find it unfortunate that the start is in the Marietta area given that I’ll start my day in the Moreland area). Marietta? How cool would it be for the Canada Day hash to end at Red Hare Brewing? Get it? 🙂

  4. Barb says:

the start is on the AH4 forum under Canada Day from Canucklehead. UP by Town Center mall.

  5. Steve says:

Tastes Like Chicken was trying to talk up BS last night. I figured there might be a little ride Sunday morning so I did not commit.

Denial of Service mentioned a blender and frozen drinks for the pool time- damn, that sounds dangerous.

The mizzus has not mentioned a breakfast plan for the overnight guests of the Day Spa. I’m sure if she needs something, she’ll let y’all know.

I haven’t been in the pool this week. If it’s too hot, I can drive a sprinkler with my submersable pump and cool it down a bit. Adding some water will also do that.

  6. Barb says:

Steve – we could do a ride Sunday morning & still make it to the hash – it doesn’t start until 1400.

  7. Yeah, what Barb says…

Well, you know I won’t show empty-handed, but if something specific is desired I shall need to be informed through this outlet.

And sorry for my delay in response; it appears that the new fancy-pants WordPress is not doing its part regarding informing me of new comments.
