Big Week

Possibly would’ve been a bigger week had the young lady I sat next to at the bar at SoBa last night was not sporting an engagement ring. Eh, she was probably being nice because I showed up with ITP-Reader Betsy and thought that I was harmless…

Today’s Personal Project
Eat sensibly.

Today’s Daily Challenge
Walk briskly from one place to another today.

Regular moderate-intensity physical activity (such as brisk walking) lowers your risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, and diabetes. It can help you control your weight and even aid in managing stress. Bonus: Adding even a few moments of brisk walking to your day gives you a quick energy boost, too.

Because of the cold weather I walked rather briskly from LA Fitness to my car this morning. Is that good enough?

The stupid club near work still doesn’t have hot water and I was in no mood to take another cold shower. Besides, the locker room was hot and I figured that I’d start sweating as soon as I exited the cold shower.

I had thought about trying a different location this morning, but I got into auto-pilot mode while driving and drove directly to Dunwoody.

Let’s Get A Physical, Physical
The hardest part of yesterday’s physical was holding my pee early in the morning so that I would have an ample supply for later.

Early indications point to me being fairly healthy; pulse, blood pressure, EKG, urine, external once-over all checked out okay, temperature was slightly elevated. Blood has been sent to the lab to be worked up and I don’t expect that any negative results will be found. And, as an added bonus since I did that “40+ year old male” test last year, I got to skip it this year! Ain’t medicine great?!

In an odd twist, my left cheek has been giving me a bit of grief since the physical. Oh well, I guess it never ends until it ends.

Like Groundhog Day
I picked ITP-Reader Betsy up from her place and we went over to SoBa to order food to take back to her house for Top Chef watching. There has been something strange going on with me lately, I seem to constantly queue up an episode of Top Chef that we’ve already seen. As we sat there drinking wine and eating our food both Betsy and I thought “Huh, this seems familiar.” before both coming to the conclusion that we had watched that episode last week.

Jeepers, am I losing my mind?

ITP Flickr Pic
poop, the well has run dry this week.

This Ain’t The ATL, It’s Goddamn Philly!
Yesterday morning I received an email from Apple alerting me that the Atlanta episode of Anthony Bourdain’s “The Layover” was now available for download from iTunes. I’ve purchased season passes for the first two seasons so that I that I could load them onto my iPad for viewing at Betsy’s.

Hey, if only someone would write an iPad app that allowed you to do that from your DVR… 😉 (I don’t have the settop box necessary to use my app at home).

Excited to finally watch the episode everyone has been talking about since Tuesday I launched the video player.

The first few minutes mentioned things about Philadelphia, and Betsy and I were both confused. I then thought, “Well, maybe they show him in the last city and then he flies to the city shown in the show.” but was very wrong. After scrolling to a random point in the middle of the episode Bourdain was still in Philadelphia.

SONNABITCH!

So rather than watching Bourdain we launched another episode of Top Chef.

Big Weekend
I’m envious of those of you for whom this is a three-day weekend. Yes, I now know that next Monday is MLK Jr Day, but as I stated last Monday I will once again be at work. (However, I will only be working Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday of next week so I guess that I have that going for me).

Tomorrow will be a lavanderia morning for before I head to the grocery store to load up on goods and fixins for jambalaya. I will be making jambalaya for Little Easy’s birthday shindig tomorrow night.

On Sunday morning I’ll be kicking around downtown with my photog friends before we head into the Georgia World Congress Center for ImagingUSA. From downtown I expect to hear up to Marietta to watch the football game which will be played about three hundred yards from the Georgia World Congress Center.

I’m becoming increasingly more grossed out by your gym. How on earth are they cleaning properly without hot water? Ew ew ew. There’s gotta be some kind of health violation going on in there by now.

  2. Laura says:

I have to ask: please tell me it’s the cheek on your face that hurts?!

  3. This gym is due for renovation in March/April (which means I’ll have to find alternative locations) then. So I guess that I have that going for me.

Yes, it’s the facial cheek. I kinda wish that it was the other however…

  4. Debbie says:

    My first thought too, Laura!

Happy Friday everyone and all hail the return of the sun.

  5. Steve says:

I’m trying to figure out how it takes that long to fix a HWH. I know it’s an industrial size, but come on… and I’m with Ronnie- raise some hell and get a free month, or some personal trainer sessions.

And for those of you who may be wondering- no, I did not watch the LA interview. I doubted he would say anything of value and reading the “reviews” this morning, I was right.

Paulie, you can be envious of a lot of people who have a 3 day weekend, but you could be downright hateful to those of us who have a 4 day!!!!

Looking forward to seeing many ITP types at the Cajun fest tomorrow evening.

  6. Martha says:

Well I have Monday off, but the odds are pretty good I’ll be working. I have 11 employee reviews due on Monday, not to mention the first draft of a project I’ve been tasked…you know on top of my actual job.

I’m due for a checkup, last one I was diagnosed with a mild case of Rhabdo…I doubt I’ll have that problem again.

I’m more excited for Nibble’s next vet visit. She’s lost a good deal of weight (at least a pound), the vet will be so pleased. I hate to say how she lost the weight, it’s pretty gross but it is directly related to us not having a cat (actually litter box) any more.

  7. Barb says:

Did you find any interesting places to eat in Philly? Sorry, couldn’t resist.

See ya Sunday, Allan is debating getting out the fryer…… he’s in the mood for wings (and, I’ve got cheese curds from Cheddarhead that could be fried too).

  8. We didn’t watch the Philly episode, which Betsy wanted to watch since she is flying into Philly today….

  9. Well, so much for my eating responsibly… We were delivered gourmet cupcakes today to celebrate the app’s release and I couldn’t resist.

So much for this morning’s workout…

  10. bob says:

Barb if you are frying cheese curds on Sunday it will be impossible to not stop by after wheelhopper.

I am so happy the sun finally came out, I have not ridden in a week and am going stir crazy. I see some hill repeats in my very near future 🙂

If all goes as planned looks like we will be making it to the Cajun fest tomorrow, looking forward to it!

  11. Barb says:

Bob – if we decide to fry, I will text you…….
I want it to be nice enough to sit outside & watcht the game, but if it is windy at all, the heaters don’t do their job very well.

I have to figure out some sort of food to take to the party tomorrow night too.
    Damn I’m so busy (hahahahaha)

I mailed the Chromebook to my parents today, they should get it on Tuesday. Yikes for me to try to be able to explain things from a distance……..

and- Dean just called me, he might be meeting me for lunch. – yikes again!
