To Burn A Vacation Day? That Is The Question.

Free-form blogging day!

I am now sitting (and iPad blogging) in the waiting room of my doctor’s office without having an appointment. I made no appointment yesterday hoping that I would finally kick the shit which has inhabited my body recently. I am feeling “mostly well” today, but just want to chat with the doctor to see about getting rid of this once and for all (at least in regards to this bout).

Who knows when I will get out of here. So, I am now wondering if I should call in “sick” (or burn a vacation day) since I have other chores to do and am hoping to get out of work early enough to get my bike into shape and make it down to Moreland for dinner.

I think that I might have just answered my question. Anyone need anything from REI?

Oh, That BNR
I made it to the CocoaHeads Atlanta meet up last night (not a single female in attendance) which was held at the offices of Big Nerd Ranch in Kirkwood. I laughed at the coincidence since I have been scoping out Big Nerd Ranch courses (they are expensive, like $5000 for a week of training at the ranch!) and have recently found out that one of my Flickr contacts works for them.

The meet up was interesting, even though the night’s presenter had to cancel due to illness, but I felt completely inadequate when the conversations started. At least I got a free Willy’s burrito out of the deal…

I had planned on going to the “on-after” at Thinking Man Tavern but I felt awkward and decided that I should head home and get some things together for this weekend instead.

A Smudgy Bill Of Health
Well I am out already. A quick once over (apparently I am running a fever) and telling of my story have resulted in a “here is what you had/had” a recommendation for taking Pepcid, and a prescription for a “Z Pack.” None of this will preclude me from riding tomorrow (I better get those tires inflated) though I might be consuming considerably less alcohol while taking the antibiotics (it is a conspiracy I tell you!)

I am now sitting in the Poncey-Highland San Francisco Coffee drinking some strong coffee while eating a piece of vegan carrot cake (it’s not bad), though I am quite full now…

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

It always concerns me how easily MDs had out antibiotics…when there is no way to know if you actually have a bacterial infection without some testing. Oh well…I guess if the drug resistant bacteria doesn’t get us it will be something else..sinkholes, giant mosquitoes, zombies…

Doesn’t BBQ Steve work at Big Nerd Ranch? Or is that you Flickr contact?

I be taking half a day off today, we have another meeting with the builder and designer today at 1:30. I guess for 2013 COA is asking for more drawings, plans, etc. to get a permit, which means even more money from me up front. I will have laid out over $6K before we ever break ground (that’s not including any of the closing costs for the load).

I just saw a new story about the Z pack, it wasn’t a good story. I really should pay more attention.

UNDERWHELMED with Taco Mac last night, the food was marginal, Sergio was marginal, place was too busy (I guess free pint glass night means so much more to people than it does to me) but the people I got to hang out with made it fun. I really liked that Chuy’s place better food wise for something in that ‘hood.

Something is gonna get each and every one of us…

I have never talked to BBQ Steve about work. I was always under the impression that he was super-smart and sold a company for a lot of money. My Flickr contact is a guy named Jon.

Yeah pint night is a zoo there, Barb. I didn’t even think of that.

I’m now in Target, shopping while waiting for drugs. Next stop is REI and then to meet people for lunch. Also on today’s agenda is a stop at QT for fuel, air, and cash before heading back to EAV to get my shit together.

Just about to leave for the 80 year olds birthday lunch. a reminder for those attending this weekends festivities. While the pool is cold the hot tub is in working order, so bring something to get hot tubbed in.

Come down whenever you’re able- though if you get here too early, you may be mopping fllors.

    Running late.

Just double check, BBQ Steve does work there, but I seem to remember hearing the same story about his background.

    Life is a terminal disease…

  6. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

No fear about me getting there early Steve. While filling my tire (again) I finally saw the nail causing the leak. I may try to get Lam to plug the tire after lunch, further delaying me…

  7. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Unrelated, I am angry the bike tube I use costs $2.50/tube than all the others at REI.

  8. Barb says:

    what tube are you buying?
Go see Lam, he can fix that tire quick I’m sure.

  9. Martha says:

At least you know you can get at tube at REI, they only carry 1 650 and they don’t always have it. Thankfully I haven’t ridden the new bike enough to have need to replace the tubes I got when I bought it.

  10. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Will stop by Lam’s after lunch.

I bought a couple 700×18-23 tubes, they are $9.50 while all other tubes are $7.00.

Yes, BBQ Steve does work for BNR, and yes, he’s SUPER smart. If he weren’t married (and perhaps just a modicum interested in exercise) I would literally be stalking him in the most illegal way. Ho hum!

I’m not looking forward to the Publix half this weekend. Let’s just say I shan’t be breaking any speed records and leave it at that.

Some guys have all of the luck…. 🙂

Good luck on Sunday. Hopefully they realize how warm it will be and have acquired enough water this time.

  13. Barb says:

I’m so ready to start this weekend….. totally not in the mood to be at work.
Hopefully traffic will not totally suck, and we can be at the day spa by 6:30….. not sure if that is possible, but I can hope.

JoAnna is meeting us at the start tomorrow, after being out of town all week, she decided a good night sleep in her own bed is needed.
Ray is out – sent me a text saying his knee is hurting.
I know Sarah will be there somewhere – hopefully she will ride with us for at least a few minutes.

  14. I’m sitting at home pissing away the remainder of my afternoon off. Soon I’ll be retrieving the Black Jack from the basement and getting everything to go. I expect a 6:30pm ETA.

    Has everyone registered already?

  15. Barb says:

no prepay for me(us) – I really don’t need another t-shirt – so this helps to make that not happen.

  16. Jenka says:

I knew you’d think that was funny, Paulie! 🙂
