Well, That Explains Some Of The Silence

It appears as if my “Hey, I’m Going To Be Late” post never published. Man it seems almost impossible for me to use WordPress from my iPad these days.

Today’s Daily Challenge
Try yoga’s lion pose: Kneel on the floor and give a roar.

Yoga can do so many things: help you manage stress and anxiety, increase your flexibility and strength, and improve your posture. By working on the muscles in your face, the lion pose can help keep your jaw muscles from becoming tight and reduce eye strain.

Um, no.

Sunshine State My Ass!
This was my view for most of my drive home on Monday.

Sunshine State My Ass

It rained, then it rained harder, then it let up, and then it started all over again. Because of the time that I left my mother’s house and the weather ahead I did not get to stop in Gainesville on my return as I hoped. I did stop at the same gas station / Subway / Dairy Queen on I-75 north of Tiften, but unfortunately they have removed the picnic bench on which I ate my dinner last year; I ate dinner sitting in my car instead.

Look Maw, No Cavities
One of the reasons I returned home after a short visit to my mother’s was that I had a dental appointment yesterday. Overall I heard nothing but positive news at the dentist — save the further draining of my Health Savings Account since my dentist is not part of the dental insurance plan offered by my company.

Workation
For the second day in a row I am in the office on a “vacation day.” My project is in its final throes (at least for now) so I feel compelled to be in the office to see it through. The irony is that the vacation days I am currently supposed to be consuming are comp time for the many hours of overtime I worked last November/December.

Being single and having an addictive personality makes me a prime candidate for being a workaholic (something I was back at the beginning of my career, and apparently have become again).

I’m trying to change this.

And for what it’s worth I am far from a slacker, an idiot for giving up my life for my company, but not a slacker.

I Can’t Run, I Shan’t Painful Member
I was hoping to make a return to hashing tonight. However, with no ability to run I don’t want to hash. The call for rain over the next few days helped me decide to hold off on my return as well.

Well, I was a little worried when there wasn’t a blog yesterday.

I’m off for the next 5 days! Of course, it’s going to rain most of that time. I’ve mapped out a 35 mile ride with a remote start that goes over Cove Road near Woodbury. Be. Afraid. Hope I get to check it out some day!

I need to run to the feed store, then get on an 11:00 conference call, so no TdF yet.

    Those pancakes look pretty good!

  2. I really thought I had posted yesterday…

Those pancakes were good (and the sausage had a nice spice-salt tang to them as well).

Though I will not come in to the office tomorrow (and probably will skip the Peachtree too based on the weather forecast) I will probably be back in the office on Friday — a paid holiday for us this year. My inability to be productive as well as getting interrupted constantly has caused me to be behind schedule at a very critical time. 🙁

  3. Barb says:

A paid holiday on the 5th? I’m jealous. I’ll be here at work, but my customers don’t have much going on, so I will be goofing off most of the day. I thnk I have a long lunch break planned.

We had planned to go to Lake Lanier tomorrow – that’s already been cancelled.
Maybe we go to a movie (probably with everyone else in the area).
I know we have a few errands to run, gotta go to Cycleworks to get some different spokes, one of Bob’s new wheels has Allan changing something. (Bob, don’t ask me, nothing bad, just something that I didn’t understand or for that matter care about)

Hopefully this rain will be gone by Sunday, for our roadtrip to Vero Beach. Last Feb. we drove in rain almost hte entire drive. No fun at all. We will be taking the Subaru, so it will be the first roadtrip in the new car.

  4. Steve says:

Considering the number of people who would take Friday off, it certainly makes sense to give Friday as a day off. We can’t do that because the Fed can’t be closed 4 days straight.

I hope the Peachtree isn’t a complete washout, but the track club has your money, so they don’t care.

  5. They changed our benefits this year, taking away Presidents’ Day and making a floating holiday of their choice — this year giving us the 5th of July since the 4th falls on a Thursday.

  6. Stacy says:

*phew!* Paulie’s back! I kept checking for your blog yesterday. Glad you’re back safely.

Our company surprised us with the 5th paid off too…. they’re really blowing my mind this year. First MLK Jr. Day and now this? Totally taking advantage of it. There’s a restaurant on the beach I’m trying solely because they have Puerto Rican Butter Rum Scallops on the menu. Yeah. Doesn’t that sound divine? (not that your pancakes don’t)

Hope ITP and all ITP readers have a safe and enjoyable weekend!

  7. Jenka says:

Driving on the highway in rain is one of my all-time most hated activities. Glad you made it home safely.

Emory does not give us the 5th off. But I took vacation this week on purpose because I only needed to use four vacation days. Not going anywhere so it’s basically just Jenkation!

If they hold the Peachtree tomorrow, I will be running it. Can you believe I’ve never run it before? At least it won’t be 95 degrees with 90% humidity.

Stacy: yes. OMG, yes, that *does* sound divine.

  8. bob says:

Thanks for bringing the rain back with you Paulie, sheesh! 🙂

I thought about seeing a movie tomorrow too but that will probably be crazy. I’ll have to find some indoor games for Travis to burn some energy, hell I may just send him out to play in the rain. What kid doesn’t like to splash in puddles?

I too am off on Friday, Laura is working and Travis will be at camp. I have a whole guilt free day off! No idea what I want to do though, too many options.

Barb, I have complete trust in Allan’s wheel building skills. I better, as the last thing I want to think about bombing down a hill is “will my wheels hold?”

  9. Debbie says:

Barb and I have hatched a plan to have lunch tomorrow at Tasty China. If anyone wants to join the fun, we’ll be there at noon.

  10. Yay! I just heard about this, I will be there.

  11. bob says:

Travis and I will be there, Laura to if she can get back from the Peachtree in time.
