Big Nerd Dude Ranch

Class Attendance:
Ten men.
Zero women.

To say that I am not surprised at this turnout is an understatement. Of course the women working at Banning Mills are cute, and too young, and are probably more interested in the guys who staff the zip-line course anyway.

Welcome to my life.

Big Nerd Ranch: Day Two
Yesterday was another packed day of typing and frustration. I left the course at about 9:00pm when I finished “working” on my example project and realized that I was too tired to attempt to embellish it any further.

Most of the gang went out for a 3:00pm short hike yesterday — side note: I mentioned hashing on Monday, I think my fellow nerds think I am insane — when the humidity was probably in the neighborhood of 70-80%. Needless to say, I returned drenched, this time not from rain but from the moisture one’s body produces when outside in 80+° F heat and high humidity.

As I said on Monday to my compadres “It’s a good thing that I am not trying to impress any females in our class.” knowing well and full that the employees at Banning Mills have written me off as old and unattractive. :/

Big Nerd Ranch: Day Three (Work In Progress)
For the first night here I slept like shit last night. I think it had something to do with falling asleep while reading on my iPad combined with falling asleep with the bed light turned on. I awoke in the middle of the night and didn’t sleep deeply again. Pity, I think I need to be well-rested for today’s lectures.

Today we are supposed to be going on the zip-lines, it’s not “part” of the course but many previous attendees have paid to do it. I’d like to, but the weather is not looking overly promising (did the metro get that incredible storm around 7:00pm last night too?) nor are many of my fellow nerds looking as if they want to add zip-lining to their Big Nerd Ranch experience.

What’s Missing?
For some reason I’ve been unable to get up and go out for morning walks. Lazy? Probably. I also “intend” to take some photographs of the scenery. The surroundings are not stellar, but if I get my creative noodle working I can make some nice photos of what I have available to me.

All for now, time to eat more food….

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

If you mean metro ATL, nope! It was finally, finally a beautiful evening with blue skies and puffy clouds and no rain. I was walking around out in the park at just about that time (7pm) and not a drop in the city.

So you mentioned hashing, hmmmmm? That mean you gonna come back out and hash again soon? Granted, I know your foot has been a big hindrance there, but it sure would be nice to see you on a hash again.

I have never zip-lined but have always wanted to. Hope it stays clear for you and you can tell us all about it!

Well, I had a nice entry all typeds, and then ITP crashed!!

A little rain as I went home last night- rain and the moon still visible- very strange.

A couple of laps of the mountain after my meeting, still not great, but a bit better. Maybe there is still some leftover cold in my lungs from last week?

Glad you’re studying hard while you zipline. I guess this is the ranch part??

    Have fun.

I guess we were in line for the same storm – it came barreling through here at about 7:45. Fortunately it moved quickly so I didn’t have to get soaked feeding the horses.

Insomnia is a bitch. She has been visiting me lately and is really pissing me off!! I finally got a couple of hours of good sleep on the sofa after Steve left for work. I had to kick Farley off, but he’ll probably get over it.

Off to ride my horse in the slap dag middle of the day again. At least it’s a bit cloudy.

Ugh, I’m just about over this house. Two weeks ago, the broiler stopped working, then last week the shower…now it looks like the AC is on the fritz….We’re going to see if we can just tough it out. We may have a little luck, highs only in the 70s for the next few days.

Jerry and I did some zip linning a few years ago, it was a lot of fun. I would highly recommend giving it a try.

Insomnia is a bitch… you are correct there. Mine has been better lately, thank goodness. It was starting to get to the point were I wasn’t functioning very well.

  5. 8:29pm and still “working.” Stories abound for tomorrow, hoping to have time to write about them.
