More Business

Heard the noise again as I pulled into Colony Square last night so I am currently outside of Peaxh Auto waiting for them to open. I think I will need a brake job, but will wait to hear what the experts say.

I knew this case of poison ivy was bad, but it may be the worst I have ever had. For a week I have been itchy on my left leg and on the small of my back. This morning I saw the rashes for the first time (they all exist in hard to see places) an OMG it’s not good. I will be modestly embarrassed when I go for my physical on Thursday but perhaps they can prescribe me something to finish off this nonsense.

My German class is going to be fucking intense. Of the six students I am the only one who has previously studied German, however the other five all speak Spanish, which somehow intimidates me. Seven nights left, and I hear the President will visit our fair city today which should completely hose traffic.

All for today.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Do those people that speak Spanish speak any other languages? And, did they learn both English & Spanish as children? When you learn more than one language as a child, for whatever reason it makes it easier to learn more languages as an adult. Katrina is great example. She learned Catalan so much easier than Kevin, he can barely muddle thru after being there for I think 7 years now.
Poison Ivy sucks. A good thing about going to the doctor Thursday he can give you a shot. That makes it go away quick.

Except for needing to have the Jackmobile looked at, this would have been the perfect day to MARTA.

Curious… do these other folks in class work for Siemens in Alpharetta? Or what is their goal in learning Deutsche?

We spent a little time walking the pasture last night in search of my blinkie light that fell off when I was riding there on Sunday. Sadly, I’m afraid I’ll find it with the mower when I scatter it into little pieces.

TOMORROW NIGHT- Third Wednesday! Last Wednesday of the Summer.

Thursday- 12:30 Jens goes for the hour. Covered live on Eurosport.

  3. At work now.

My classmates all appear to be native Spanish speakers. I forgot that there is one student who missed last night’s class, so I don’t know what his deal is yet. I’m not sure what all of their motives are. I know one girl is married to a man of German descent (who is a Ph D student in Physics at Tech) and one guy is a professional swimmer who says he visits Austria often so he wants to learn; the other girl in the class appears to be his girlfriend, who is a high school Spanish teacher looking to broaden her horizons.

I so wanted to use MARTA today, but the Jackmobile intervened, especially when I found out that parking was $11 at Colony Square. Perhaps tomorrow, when I’ll be skipping Third Wednesday for Third German Class. On Thursday my scheduled physical may mean that I’ll be driving again.

    so, what did Lam say?

  5. I left the car with them. Harry looked up my records and the last time I had the brakes done was 2012, it’s probably time…

Yep, the POTUS is on campus/CDC today. Even though he’s only supposed to be here for a short time, the SS (or whoever) is blocking the Clifton corridor for several hours. So I’m working from home today, because my office is LITRALLY right across the street from CDC. I’m not complaining. Although it would’ve been cool to watch the motorcade.

  7. steve says:

I have watched a motorcade or 2 from a downtown hirise and it’s pretty cool to watch. They shut off the on ramps as he cruises along, really only a couple of minutes each. I imagine surface streets, especially around the destination could be pretty F.U.

  8. My plan will be to pick up my car (apparently I didn’t even need a brake job, there was some debris in the wheel making the noise), drive to a “nearby” MARTA station and MARTA to midtown. Hopefully I can accomplish this by 6pm.

  9. Barb says:

if you drive to the closest MARTA, I think you should be fine. Or, you tell them you will come get the car in the morning, you do have an extra key at home? Just have them lock the keys in the car. I do that all the time, we can almost never get over there when they are still open.

Tonight I have to go meet my friend to get our Garth Brooks tickets, so I decided I’d ride my bike to Roswell for the meetup. Allan is at Cycleworks, so we are meeting at the North River Tavern for trivia, and this way we will only have 1 car, and I get some exercise. Pray it doesn’t rain, as I don’t think I want to ride on Lower Roswell, etc after work in the rain wil all the crazy commuters.

  10. I don’t keep my house keys connected to my car key. The biggest issue is the distance between my house and the closest MARTA station.

  11. Barb says:

Uber, Lyft, a plain old yellow taxi?

  12. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I took a taxi from MARTA to Lam’s — $8. Have driven to midtown, still must do last night’s homework.
