Another Late Start

Last night’s sleep was “interesting”. After returning home from Tilted Kilt, my boss’ choice for his birthday drinks and dinner, I passed out in bed nearly immediately — around 10:00pm. I woke up and was wide awake around 3:30am. I finally got back to sleep after an hour or so, only to somehow to manage to shut off both alarms and wake up again on my own at 6:30am. Toss into this mix add a nightmare about being in a car that nearly drove off a steep cliff due to a bridge being out, and then watching other cars actually do that.

What’s that Mr. Freud?

B-b-b-baby It’s Cold Outside
Surprisingly I’m not bummed with the spell of cold weather we’ve been having. This weather has been giving me an opportunity to wear the sweaters that I don’t get to wear very often. Sure, this weather is going to jack up my heating bill, especially living in a house with leaky windows and a piece of plywood masquerading a window.

I will say that last night was the first time in my life that I wish the car I owned had heated seats.

Eerie
Last year I had two cockroaches sitting on my bathroom sink when I turned on a light in the bedroom. On each occasion I “dispatched” them elsewhere.

Yesterday morning I was thinking how nice it’s been not having such pests recently.

Wouldn’t you know that when I arrived home last night and flipped on the bedroom light I could see a cockroach sitting in the same exact spot! The light or my presence didn’t seem to bother it, but I’m sure the plastic-wrapped magazine that was in my hand because it had arrived in the mail yesterday did. SPLAT! and it was no more.

I Have Clearance, Clarence
My late start eliminated using the interstates which ere blood-red on Google Maps by the time I exited the house. Instead I chose a series of surface streets which were pretty uncluttered, until I reached Sidney-Marcus. As I started at Target while I waited in traffic the brilliant idea of going shopping struck me, and I did, and there was much rejoicing.

By 9:15am I had already seen two strikingly beautiful women shopping at Target and had filled up my hand basket with all of the things I needed, and a few I didn’t, like clearance solid-color t-shirts and a new pair of long johns which were also clearance-priced. I would have purchased a new pair of black “leather” gloves if Target had any gloves left on the pegs.

All in all I spent $75 and my plan to wait out traffic by shopping worked brilliantly.

Tonight’s Actors My Have The Best Show Of Their Life Just By Acting As If They Are Warm
Tonight I will be going to midtown, not to go to the Goethe Centrum, but instead to go see the Hertz Stage at the Alliance Theatre‘s performance of “The C.A. Lyons Project”. I am blissfully unaware about the plot of this play and have no intentions of investigating it before I get there.

Okay, time to code.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

We decided last night to attend a friends wedding in Playa Del Carmen in May- neither of us have ever been to Cancun. So, spending a bunch of money today. Trying to save up my FF miles for our CA trip next spring, hopefully this will help get us enough to fly first class.

Mac n Cheese party was pretty fun, good to see some hasher friends we don’t see enough. I think there was 10 or 11 choices to try, plus some pulled pork by Jack@ss, and someone actually brought some salad. We were home by 10, and not drunk.

I have a new pair of glasses over at Pearle Vision in East Cobb I need to go pickup, I still won’t wear them much, but I need them to see better at night, and read distance things. The prescription hasn’t changed much from my last pair, so I can have a pair now to just keep in the car.

and Paulie – was talking to GE’s girlfriend Megan last night, her company needs a app developer. Its a company called Wahoo Fitness, they are over near Chastain Park. Sounds like a cool little company. If you have any interest, I’ll get you her email address.

    House buying saga- chapter 3:
We went back to the seller yesterday with our origonal offer- 205, WD and Frig stay, and they balked. We sent a terminate order to our realtor and the seller magically found it in there hearts to see it our way. Looks like we’re moving to Luthersville!!

Hopefully, we will still be able to close in short order, or there will be much shuffling of stuff.

  4. Jeez, all this house buying and selling drama. Almost makes me feel better about being such a procrastinator. 🙂

House buying saga: End of Volume I:

Steve and Bob are absolutely right, with electronic signatures there’s no excuse for not signing the agreement. BUT, Duffy DOESN’T DO electronic signatures! Not kidding! Anyway it doesn’t matter because after stringing us along since Saturday the seller decided NOT TO SELL. We got the word last night at 11:00 pm. We’re pissed about the situation, not about the house. We’ll find another house. Our realtor says that 11 March is the magic date when lots of houses come on the market.

Steve, glad you got it all settled! Where the hell is Luthersville?

  6. Steve says:

10 miles farther south than we arleady are! And some day, we hope to have internet service.

Jenka, we had that scenario last month. There must be a playbook for how to annoy buyers. I’m sure you’ll find something great soon.
