Oh Hai!

In a perfect world my project would be going much better and not have required me to work all day yesterday. I have a deliverable today, so this is going to be a super-short post.

Good To See Long-Time Friends
I spent an enjoyable evening with hashing friends at Betsy’s house on Friday night. Much Tasty China and wine were consumed.

Worst. Bike. Ride. In. A. Long. Time.
I had enthusiasm to ride from the ITP Estate to Stone Mountain and back on Saturday morning. Enthusiasm was all I had, and faded quickly.

With nearly all body parts involved in bike riding hurting I changed my ride from “Going around Stone Mountain and back” to “Going to Stone Mountain and back” to “Going fifteen miles out and back” to “Fuck it, I’m going to the end of this road and turning around” as I struggled to pedal. The end of the road corresponded with the eleven-mile mark. Twenty-two pathetic miles. Not since the ride when I was taken out by the car have I failed to make it to Stone Mountain.

Today’s scale reading of 227 might have a lot to do with this.

My penance for failure was mowing the lawns on Saturday afternoon. So, at least I had that going for me.

Tonight? More Work. Hopefully Time For German Studies
My next German glass starts tomorrow night. While I have been studying vocabulary I’ve not dedicated as much time doing so as I probably should have been. There are just not enough waking hours in my day…

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Well- the molds that come out when it rains in the spring took me out of commission this weekend. I should know better than to sit outside on a patio this time of year when it rained. My lungs seemed to disappear, and I really understand what someone with emphysema feels like, and I can’t imagine having that feeling all the time. So, no bike riding fo me this weekend, I pretty much hid inside.
I’m feeling a little better today, but of course it is supposed to rain all week.

Chores, chores, and more chores. I’ll let Debbie tell the tale of “customizing” her truck.

I did get a ride to the inlaws on Saturday. 34 and change in 2 hours or just under. I was pretty well toast at that point. The good news is a section that had been horrible pavement has been repaved- the bad news is because what they paved on top of, it still isn’t real smooth.

Friday, the urologist said I’m doing well and should have my PSA results toady.

To get TC at Betsy’s house, do you call in an air strike? Do they deliver from Mayretta to the ‘hood?

I was totally wondering about that too — how TC got down to Betsy’s! Because dang, I would SO pay that delivery fee to get them to come to me too. 😉

Don’t be too hard on yourself… it’s been a while since you did a long bike ride and 22 miles is as good a starting point as any! (and probably far more than I could do)

Is this Wed. third Thursday at George’s already? Anyone going? I’m considering it. Tax day seems a good day to have a beer.

  4. Steve says:

It is, but I have stopped sending out notices due to a perceived lack of interest. As tomorrow is my monthly Games meeting, and I don’t like to drive to town more than once a week, I will likely not be there.

Stacy, how are you feeling? You sounded like you were not well the other day.

  5. Stacy says:

Thanks Steve — I’m actually feeling pretty poorly yet, though made it to work and all. Saturday I was down for the count all day; yesterday I got out for a few hours just to keep from going stir crazy, but then was back home and asleep fairly early. I’m pretty sure out of the last 48 hours I’ve slept about 38 of them. 🙂 Summer colds are the pits, but still much better than having allergies!

I don’t often go out on school nights in wintertime… it’s the combination of it being so dark so early and too cold most of the time to walk anywhere. Now that it’s lighter and warmer, I’ll probably check out George’s more often again. 🙂 Maybe this year even go do some of the paths instead of just socializing!

  6. Steve says:

I’m trying to run more (or at least start back again) so George’s may be a bit more regular for me as well.

  7. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Gary is out TC mule, so to speak.

  8. Barb says:

Gary, aka Rats A$$, works right up here near me, so he does the TC delivery.

Steve – its 34 one way to the inlaws?

  9. Steve says:

Correct… remember when we did Tour de Pike? They were just past that rest stop in Meansville (east of Zebulon).

  10. Barb says:

I just didn’t realize it was that far from the new house. I really need to ride one night this week- STU is going to kill me.
I may have to do the shorter routes, which I don’t want to do, or ride super, super slow. My inhaler may be geting a workout.

  11. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

The weather may dictate my route Friday. Saturday’s route will be dictated by the weather and how I feel.

  12. Steve says:

I think it’s a mile closer from the new house! Through beautiful downtown Alvaton. Or I could go through Gay and Concord… whee!
