The Rumors Of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated (For Now)

Hello World!

Harrumph!
Work has been demanding and demoralizing. And that’s why there was no blog on Friday.

Sixty Miles Strong!
On Saturday morning I awoke, thankfully without the need for an alarm that I forgot to set, and drove down to Senoia for the Wilson 100. I surprised myself, riding sixty miles in just over three hours and thirty minutes. For professional riders this is slow, for overweight, aged men such as myself this is fantastic. I should’ve thanked the beautiful woman who passed me within the last five miles for providing inspiration, but even I thought that would be a creepy gesture.

After a ride and a beer I headed to the Moreland Ranchero and commenced to help Steven and Debbie erect a portion of the framing for their new stable.

Upon returning ITP I rewarded myself with a shower and a Chinese buffet dinner. A strange thing happened while eating dinner, some man wearing a long white “lab” coat and carrying a book walked around and asked single diners, myself included, if he could share the table. My good karma and sense of adventure had been used up by that time and I politely declined.

Sunday, Yard Work Sunday
Yesterday I got out of the house to do yard work. Two and a half hours of mowing and trimming bushes made me wish that I had signed up for back-to-back sixty mile rides instead. Though I didn’t finish all of my yard work, I did quit in time to shower and lay my lazy ass on the floor to watch the Packers v. Bears game.

After the game and after taking a thirty-minute power nap I headed out to DBA Barbecue for dinner before then joining the festivities for Dave’s and Katherine’s (Public Enema and Saddle Sores) 25th Anniversary party at George’s Bar. It was great to see a good many hashers that I don’t see often any longer.

Surprisingly I’ve Yet To Order My iPhone 6s
Still trying to figure out the best financial plan for me, and order will be placed this week. Wee!

Okay, work beckons again. 🙁

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

    not much to say
made Dan Dan noodles friday night at home, they weren’t exactly the same as TC, but were damn good.

Saturday did a hike at one of the many Chattahoochee parks with JoAnna & the beagles, ate some lunch at Mellow Mushroom on their patio (with the beagles)
Went to a friend’s Sonoma Valley themed wine party that night, but I’m still wine & beer’d out, so I did taste a little, but didn’t drink as much as a normally would 9which of course is very good for me)

Sunday – slept in – we had planned a mtn bike ride, but just couldn’t wake up. Went & watched the Browns get beat by the Jets with some friends, then off to George’s for the 25th anniversary party. Fun to see some old hashing friend from way back when I started in the 90s. And, of course it was good to see the rest of you too.

Okay, white lab coat guy is fascinating me probably more than it should. Did he ever find a dining mate?

  3. Barb says:

I’m with Stacy – you should have let him sit down.
since we were so anti-social at Prost! in Portland…….. LOL

  4. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

He did! He wound up sitting with a police officer that was eating by himself.

Thanks for the help on Saturday. We managed to hang all the rafters for the section you helped complete and I left marching orders to measure and cut the next section of header. We also drilled the holes for the post mounts. Amazing what the right tool for the job does. What was taking a minimum of 15 minutes to do- per hole, took less than a minute with the rental. Well worth the price of admission.

After hanging the rafters, I actually got out on my bike for 20. A bit of a breeze, but not too bad.

Lovely to see so many folks last night. Stacy, do you have an excuse? And it was too funny that Jackass saw everyone going into Georges, but didn’t know what the private party was, so didn’t crash it. Wow.

  6. Barb says:

We almost went next door to see if Jack@ss was there, but didn’t.

  7. Steve says:

I have officially put a bullet in the BBR plan. Paulie, if you could pick up my schwag bag- I just emailed them and they said they’d make a note that someone else would be picking up.

There will be work on the barn Saturday, if you are of a mind. Going to invite some Games friends down and we hope to be ready to put on the roof!!

  8. I will pick up your schwag. I’ll bring it down south as soon as all the hard labor has ended. 🙂

  9. Steve says:

Hey, it’s much easier with the rafters- I adjusted the “fork lift” to hold the rafters at the pitch of the roof!! I can almost drop them in and not have to get out of my seat!

  10. Stacy says:

Actually, I didn’t know about the party. 🙁 Otherwise I totally would have popped over! I didn’t really do anything after the game.

Oh, and I just heard…. Paulie, what’s this about you getting renamed? Any truth to that? We need the story!

  11. Barb says:

wait- Paulie gets re-named? spill it Stacy & Paul!

  12. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

There was talk of renaming me in Portland because some hasher wrote “Wee Little Bitch” instead of “Wee Little Bit” on the bottom of my mug. People can call me what they want, though I may only answer to my current name.

  13. Barb says:

    ahhh – forgot about that.
