From Hump Day To Slump Day

During my time of freedom Wednesday has become one of the most boring days of my week.

No RAGBRAI This Year
Honestly, given my schedule and anticipated lack of vacation time the possibility of riding RAGBRAI again this year was very slim. Last weekend the organizers of RAGBRAI announced this year’s course; it will take the northern route this year. While a northern route means flatter riding. with the exception of 3000′ of incline on the final day, it makes for a much longer journey to get there and back for the southern states.

The organizers say that this will be the third shortest, as well as the third flattest RAGBRAI in their history.

2018? Perhaps.

One More Hurdle…
More good news received yesterday. It appears that I will either get an in-person interview this week, or have to wait for a couple of weeks due to scheduling conflicts. My fingers are crossed, or as I would say in German “I’m pressing my thumbs”.

I Need To Take Advantage Of Today’s Weather
According to the experts today should be sunny with a high of nearly 70°F. In January.

Though I only have one more (double-length) episode of The Amazing Race Season 6 (I miscalculated yesterday) I need to take advantage of this weather and get outside for exercise today.

On Tonight’s Menu
At 10:00 I will be loading up the crockpot again. Tonight I will be following (as closely as the ingredients on hand will allow) this recipe for Slow Cooker Cheesy Buffalo Chicken Pasta. My stash of hot sauces doesn’t currently have a vinegar-based buffalo sauce, so I will substitute some other type of hot sauce. My pantry also doesn’t contain any celery salt, so I’m going to try and make the recipe without it.

I think that I will attempt to take a photo of my creation to see how closely it matches the one on the recipe’s website.

Have a great day friends!

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

I only have two words for you this morning:
    “First!

    OK, one word….

    (Good luck…)

Congratulations on passing the test! Just one or two more steps…

I did a little running and biking last night. Not thinking clearly, I let Zelda out before I left for my run. She went out and found Lily, the dog across the road, and was having great fun when I ran up. She thought it would be even more fun to follow along with me. While our road has no traffic, I didn’t want her to get the idea it was OK to be so far from home, so when as far as the stop sign and turned around. As she ran she was inspecting the drainage ditch and getting dirtier and dirtier. I ran back to the house and Got Debbie to put her in her box while I repeated the run to the stop sign. Upon arriving home, jumped on the trainer for 15 minutes to get the running kinks out.

I think a walk at lunch in 70 degrees will be quite nice!

    • Okay I was reading too quickly and read “and got Debbie to and put her in her box” as “and I got Debbie and put her in her box”. OOOPS! 🙂

It’s amazing much difference a minor edit to a sentence can make.

I saw the RAGBRAI route, it wasn’t even on the radar as I knew it would be up north this year. Next year should be back to the middle of the state (& 1 day close to Cedar Rapids) so at least part of the week will most liekly be on our vacation shedule. I’m not sure if I want to do the entire week again, that was a long week of drinking (& biking).
So Paulie – we will be driving up……… hint, hint, just in case you want to start taking your vitamins now so you don’t get sick again.

Felicia is in town, so we met up for a pedicure & dinner. She was telling me how this winter in St Croix has actually almost been winter-ish – they got down in the 50s a couple times! And -they’ve had crazy winds. Those poor island people, had to wear a fleece jacket.

  4. Steve says:

Sadly, just bike stuff. The officials summit is this year and we’re having the NTC meeting afterwards. Not much ski time.

  5. Forgot I was crock potting, this is what happens when I code. I just added everything to the crockpot and started the chicken. I guess dinner will be a little later than initially planned… No worries, I will either eat a larger lunch or burn off some of the ample belly fat I possess.

    • Barb says:

that’s what’s good about a crockpot – a high & low setting. If I use High – its done in 4 hours (or less sometimes)

BTW – if you are ever bored – come to Cobb County for lunch……

      • Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Will come up that way next week Barb. What day normally works best for you?

        • Stacy says:

I think it should be Tuesday. Because I’m taking a 1/2 day of work on Tuesday for an appointment later on in the afternoon, but it means I can leave any time after 11am and come meet you guys for lunch. 🙂

          • Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I like the sound of that. Barb, is Tuesday good for you?

This would also force me to get my German homework done this weekend instead of waiting until the final day. 😉

          • Barb says:

Tuesday 1/31 should work – Allan will be probably working at Hyox – so will a 1215-1230 time work?
If you want something other than Tasty China – let me know what you are craving, I’ll come up with a place.

          • Date and time work for me. I am good with any cuisine.
