May was a good month, except for drinking too much and not getting enough exercise.

  1. Whoa! Doing laundry today and just found out that it’s National Donut Day so my Krispy Kreme donut was free. Guess the diet starts tomorrow.

the Dunkin Donuts near my office has a longer than normal drive thru line.
    Now I know why.

I have a 3rd phone call tonight with a big shot from Matson, last call he said they really don’t have any extra money for my salary, as I was at the top of the range already before I left. Now I have a dilemma, as I really don’t love it at this new place.
I think they will come up with a little more money (as I didn’t get the yearly small% increase this spring) but not as much as I’d like. I also asked for a “signing” bonus or something like that. We will see………..

Omg I HATE that. It’s the most ridiculous practice too: capping off pay at a job on the title of that position. It’s basically telling your employees: now you can never make more than this, no matter how long you stay or how much you dedicate to our company. It’s asinine. Why would you want to “punish” a great employee like that? Why would you want to lose great employees like that? You should ask them, “so that means I’ll never get a raise again?” Because that’s what it’s sounding like.

      • Barb says:

well, I can get the 1% or 2% yearly (or whatever they deem is the amount) when they do reviews in the spring. And – since I didn’t get that this year, they can most likely come up with that, but not much else. Yep, I guess I can ask him to make up a new title, but I don’t see HR going for that. One problem with bigger companies, they say they can’t do anything, but is that really true???

  3. Steve says:

Sorry to hear this Barb. Depending on how far up the chain the decision is being made, something might be done. I hope it works out.

Running errands today before meeting the farrier this afternoon.

I will end up going back, but I wanted to get more money out of the deal.
Just trying to figure out how hard ball I want to get.
I did have someone call the salesperson for DSG to see if she could change some minds, she’s the one that wants me back the most.
