Happy to report that so far there have been no ill effects from yesterday’s root canal work. Hope it stays that way.

Good little romp around Ormewood Park last night for the SLUT hash, which ended two blocks from the ITP Estate. Score! I caught guff for leaving relatively early given my short walk home, but I had three beers (one pre-hash, one mid-hash, and one post-hash), had caved and eaten some meat, and wasn’t feeling overly-social, so I departed.

Waschsalon this morning, exercise and Instant Pot cooking tonight. Going to make this a relatively low key weekend.

A certain 3-D printed botte opener was highly useful last night here in the boonies of Cordele, Georgia.

And since it’s Friday, I’ll drop something geeky here. The National Enquirer tried to blackmail Jeff Bezos over dick picks. He’s not taking it. Further, it turns out the National Enquirer’s web site is hosted on…wait for it…Amazon Web Services. I wouldn’t bet against some level of service interruption with AWS today…

Here’s a thread if anyone is interested: https://twitter.com/jeffbezos/status/1093643321732464646?s=21

    • Cordele? I once dated someone from there. And separately I once spent a weekend there and attended the Big Pig Jig.

Those are my only two touch points for that town.

I’ve driven thru Cordele……… not sure if I ever stopped.

I’m here for a day for a work conference. Late in the evening, toward the end of the trip it felt like I was about to drive off the edge of the earth at any moment.

That was a good read Lurker! While Bezos may not be a model citizen I love that he stood up to AMI. It is also awesome that they are hosted on AWS, I see a contract re-negotiation in the very near future 🙂

      • ITP Lurker says:

Thanks, Bob! That was straight outta the “truth is stranger than fiction” department. You really can’t make this stuff up any more.

Can’t believe I had to miss a hash so close, ugh… Yesterday went on a 5.8 mile hike at Stone Mountain, likely for the last time, at least via car as my parking permit expires this month and I’m not renewing it. Wow what a nice day! Stopped by Aldi on the way home and bought “picnic food” for dinner to eat on the front porch.

  3. Bonnie says:

    I had to google Cordele.

    • ITP Lurker says:

Yeah, me too, when it first crossed my radar. My GPS had a moment where it was telling me to make turns that weren’t there. I starting to question if I was going to reach my destination or not.

Pro Tip: Don’t try to stop at the McDonald’s on the Jackson exit on I-75. I got lured into some weird one-way road that led me into a mile long truck stop I though I’d never get out of. Finally got to the McDonald’s, and no one was at the counter. Entire staff was huddled in the back. No thanks, not quite THAT hungry. Adjacent convenience store had no clerk. It was a totally surreal and time-wasting stop.

Ready to get my head examined at Emory. Flight home pretty uneventful yesterday. A good day all around and actually accomplished a few things to wrap up my work at the branch.

Maybe taking my scooter to the shop tomorrow to see about the poor gas mileage.

    • How’d it go? I assume you are done by now, but perhaps not?

      • Steve says:

Sorry, just checking back in. Not too bad- just staying still for an hour and 20 was tough. A bit dizzy this afternoon, but that will pass. Get to do it once again with a contrast dye in the next week or 2. All to find a cure for Alzheimer’s, so that’s a good thing.

  5. Well, my plans just changed. Found out today is the birthday of one of my regular bartenders, and she’s working tonight, so I’ll be meeting my other drinking club at Benchwarmers after work.

At least this answers the question “When will I be able to get exercise today?” with the answer “Not today..”

Not for you Paulie, but I recently watched BBC detective/crime/drama series Happy Valley and Broadchurch, and I just started Shetland. I’m also fascinated with the way of life in someplace like the Shetland Islands. I would like to take a sabbatical in a place like that. There’s something about the desolation, the sea and the landscape.

    • Eeeek!

Ireland and Scotland are both on the list of places I have yet to visit.

    • Bonnie says:

Oops I didn’t state my point (SMH) but the first two series mentioned are both excellent! Happy Valley was more instant, Broadchurch was a bit more of a slow burn. Shetland TBD but good so far. I think I’ve found my new genre.

Barb, I think you watched Mr. Robot? I recently started S3 and I’m struggling a bit… S1 and S2 were good.

      • Barb says:

Mr Robot was too weird for me – I had to quit.
We watched Mr Mercedes recently – also weird -but in a very different way.

    • There is a series called Manhunt coming to AcornTV that I may try. Let me know if you want to watch it with me so you can laugh at my horror. 😉

      • Bonnie says:

You must be kidding?! This so doesn’t look like your bag. If you’re serious I’ll certainly take advantage of an opportunity to poke fun at you 😉. That is, if you can wait until next month when I see you again… 😢😢😢.

      • Not kidding because it stars the guy who was in “Reggie Perrin”. Besides, I can watch one episode, and remember, I somehow made it through “Norsemen”. 😂

I think it doesn’t hit Acorn until March, when you can hopefully come over and help me drink some of the new beers in my refrigerator. 🙂

  7. Listening to new Bob Mould album released today. So far it’s reminiscent of his Sugar days, and that’s a good thing by me.

    • Bonnie says:

Oooh I didn’t know this was coming out?! (Or did I? 😂) I just listened to a few songs, all I have time for right now. I love it! 🙌🏻
