As the mandated Shelter In/At Home winds down (for now?) I find Wednesdays to be my favorite of the “workweek”. It may seem strange that I chose Wednesday, but it’s the day which follows form for me the most like it did prior to COVID-19. The slight changes is that instead of going over to Betsy’s house to eat and watch “Top Chef” we do this virtually.

Last night was another German class during which I felt lost. I really think the class has progressed by leaps and bounds but I have not followed suit.

After class I did my first online order with a Target to be picked up at those drive-through lanes about which I have always pondered when I shopped there. Even though I knew to avoid the items which have been scant for more than a month — toilet paper, hand sanitizer, Kleenex, etc — about half of the items I put into my virtual cart were marked as “in high demand” so I have no idea if/when I will get them. At some time this week I will make a grocery trip, so perhaps I will look for them on that journey.

Once again I am typing this while sipping coffee with the windows open. I’m unsure how many more days I’ll be able to do this, so I am trying to appreciate and enjoy it while I can.

  1. Well, I have just been informed via email that all of my Target items are ready to be picked up? Perhaps I’ll make a Target run today or tomorrow.

I was just looking at the Target website and saw a section for “Backyard Camping”. 😥😥😥

    • Yeah, I looked long and hard at REI’s current sale at camping gear, and 😢. I also had to remind myself that I already own most of what I need for camping and that I am trying to save money and reduce the amount of stuff I own… 🙄

      • Bonnie says:

I keep getting dangerously close to dropping my life savings at REI! I’ll just spend the rest of the apocalypse camping!

      • LOL

In addition to online shopping I should probably also stop watching YouTube videos of people who have build dream tiny houses in the middle of nowhere. I don’t often get jealous of others, especially those younger than I am, but I have been having my moments…

I’m currently on my front porch with my coffee and overnight oats, in a Snuggie. 😂

It is lovely out right now. I managed to enjoy 45 minutes in the hot tub, entertained by the Lyrid meteor shower last night. Skies were exceptionally clear, but still just saw 2 meteors. Oddly, one was going W-E and the other going N-S. There were more of Elon’s little satellites as well. This time going W-E. 3 or 4 in a row separated by around a minute.

A brisk wind convinced me to keep it short last night on my ride- MTB and 13 miles was about right. When the wind is from the North, my options are limited and are really limited now, as a bridge near the old farm is being repaired, so my path would force me onto Ga 54 with a long uphill and bad curve, so no safe sightline.

Debbie was bored yesterday and while I rode, she baked cookies! So much for any ride benefits!

so do you & Betsy watch Top Chef with zoom, and just have the show on your separate TVs? I’m intrigued how you are doing this.

I walked over to Breast Stroke’s house last night – I made it about 2 miles (direct it is closer to 1.5 miles each way) to catch up. Sessa decided to move to Jacksonville Beach. I wanted to hear the details on that. She isn’t working (bartending at Terrapin at the Battery isn’t happening), and you can’t really get too many new jobs right now – so I found that interesting. Living off unemployment & moving seems a little crazy, but that’s just me.

    • Separate TVs. Betsy watches using Hulu and I watch the iTunes version that I bought since I’ve had little luck using Hulu on my devices. The only snag is that she gets ad breaks so she texts me when they start/stop. We are texting throughout the show, so it’s not a big deal.

      Kids today… lol
I guess now is the time to be crazy, especially if you have nothing holding you back?

Sal texted me & said on the stimulus check website- it says “we can not determine your eligibility for payment ” What the heck? She filed her taxes, etc…………
I have no idea where she’d go to figure that out.

    • ITP Lurker says:

One possible explanation is it says that if you make too much money to qualify for a check.

      • Steve says:

If you filed using TurboTax or H&R Block, the IRS doesn’t have the actual bank account info. They are working it out.

        We’re in the same boat.

        • barb says:

I had to pay (using Turbo tax) .
They don’t have my bank info saved (even though they took my money directly from my account)
When I plug in my info, it says I need to enter information – but I am eligible. I’ve just decided I want the paper check someday. If I don’t ever get it, it will be $1200 less I have to claim as income on my taxes next year.

      • barb says:

she definitely doesn’t make too much money……. that isn’t the problem.

And speaking of Top Chef, is this what currently on cable? In California? We’ve been watching as well. We’re ready for the tall geeky guy to be GONE!
