Another manic morning… It didn’t help that I slept “late” (6:30am). My tardiness today has changed my plans already, a morning trip to Lowe’s has been postponed until tomorrow. In the periods that I have not been showering, eating, or typing this post I have been collecting and packing items to take to CHaRM this morning for my 9:00am appointment. I should also have attempted to process a load of laundry this morning, but that has been delayed until tonight.

Yesterday’s dental appointment went off without a hitch. Hooray!

Last night I hobbled through the 3.5-mile hash trail around East Atlanta. My right shin has been swollen and sore for about a day. It feels like a shin splint or like I whacked it, but the only culprit I can conjure was the 9.5-mile hike that I did on Sunday. Too much at once? I think I will allow myself a day of “rest”, meaning that I will not attempt to fit in any structured exercise.

Hope you all are doing well.

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 189.8 pounds (-3.4 from last week’s weigh-in). Woot!

Jesus, you’ve cracked the code on weight loss. Much respect.

  2. Bonnie says:

*Fist bump*. Today was not a good weigh-in for me, oh well. But no once forced me to eat a patty melt, tots and beer last night at Midway. Perhaps a day of garage reorganizing will count as exercise?

    • Sorry. But hey, at least we split the patty melt and tater tots, right?

Still plenty time to get on the “Mango Boy Workout Plan” by joining “Team ITP Estate Yard Work“. 😂

189? Who the F are you anymore?

A quiet day yesterday, except for the sound of machines running. I stepped outside at one point to watch them unloading a trailer of logs (??). Apparently, the mill had a size limit and these were too large- just barely, but enough to refuse the load. That couldn’t make anyone happy. I think it was a issue of cutting the log too close to the ground and getting “the flare”. Hand (chain) saw and reload.

18 miles on the road bike last night. Hot, but not bad. I heard thunder, but it must have been distant, as we didn’t get a drop.

I think I might dust off the scooter after work today. If the rain holds off…

wow- 189? I guess I need to get on your plan………

and – for those playing at home – day 8 of no power in Iowa.
the Alliant Energy website says maybe today, maybe tomorrow for my parents neighborhood. We will see………..
the Zach Johnson foundation (pro golfer that is from Cedar Rapids) has organized Operation BBQ Relief – getting food to all those that need it. Mom & Dad & Tom got a pork dinner yesterday.

    • Yikes, no electricity and probably (hot) water for that long must completely suck.

I didn’t know who Zach Johnson is, but good on him!

      • barb says:

they do have gas, so they have hot water.
        everything else is electric.
Zach even won the Masters 1 year, he went to my high school (many years later) – so my parents talk about him like we know him (which we don’t)

  6. Doing a very poor job of documenting some wildlife in my backyard. I went outside to dry out Sunday’s hash clothes and noticed something in the tree nearby scratching itself. I thought it would be a squirrel, but it turned out to be an owl.

    • Steve says:

I heard our owl when I went to feed the horses this morning. It was really quiet, because he wasn’t close (and you know how deaf I am) but I still heard him.

And just before lunch, I noticed one of the neighborhood hawks checking out the new cleared area of the backyard. I haven’t seen him swoop in yet, but I know he’s looking.

      • barb says:

we’ve got a hawk, or 2 or more in our yard. just hope they are getting the critters that eat all my tomatoes.
        We need more owls too.
