Kicking out another shorty today.

With the exception of watching my yard waste pile disappear yesterday was pretty mundane. I did some work, or more accurately failed with every attempt to fix a problem that I am having with code I didn’t write. When my internet crapped out at 2pm I used it as a sign to get out of the house and go to Aldi. Apparently I wasn’t the only one with the idea because Aldi was more crowded that I have ever seen it.

I attempted to get some exercise by mounting my trainer, but I could only muster thirty minutes.

I thought the evening would be spent watching Top Chef virtually with Betsy, and the prepping for German class. Well, one of those occurred…

Not much going on today. I need to work, and then my first German class kicks off at 6:15.

Hope all is going well in your world.

  1. My WordPress install was updated again yesterday. I am constantly amazed how different it looks each time. It’s like I have to learn new software each time…

I took a couple conference calls on the front porch, watching the large yellow machines push around the piles of tree debris. They created another pile in front, and will start working on the side yard today, I believe.

My planned ride of 17 miles was cut short yesterday. As I was shifting to get into an easier gear, the gear got really easy and the chain laid down on the road! While I thought about hiking home, I decided to call a cab (Debbie). Fortunately she had not left on her ride. 5 minutes after arriving home, the chain was repaired. Guess I should invest in a tool to carry with me?

    • Funny, after twenty (interrupted) years of cycling I finally bought a chain tool this year figuring that’s one incident I am due to have next.

Glad you were able to call for help. Do you belong to AAA? I believe they will pick you and your bike up if you encounter mechanical failure, though I’ve never tried calling them for cycling rescue.

I have some roadside service for the scooter, but never would think to use it for a bicycle. This happened once before and I was way over on the backside of Moreland, about as far from the house as I would be on that ride. And on a fairly empty road. After coasting and kick-biking to a slightly busier road, the sencond vehicle stopped and took me all the way home! I love living in the country.

  3. More squirrel damage in my carrot bag. Dangen! I am going to have to quit my job in order to nurse $40 worth of vegetables to maturity…
