Brrr! It’s official, I cannot plant anything else before Atlanta’s first frost of the season.

Yesterday was a decent day — Home Depot had my order, I finally made it to Your Dekalb Farmers Market, I did some laundry, I spun on my trainer for about an hour, made some dinner, and oh, I did some work. What didn’t make the cut was German studying (no shocker there) and some yard work (due to lack of time and the weather).

Of yesterday’s activities clearly visiting Your Dekalb Farmers Market was the outlier. My journey there was made harder by slow drivers and the downed tree that closed Ponce. Once at the grocery store I was surprised how busy it was for a Monday (considering COVID?) and I remembered what I liked and didn’t like about shopping there. And oh, that new parking lot and cleared land? 🤯 My goals in shopping there was to buy some garlic (for planting), look for mushrooms I can’t buy at either Kroger, Aldi, nor Publix, look for potatoes (for future planting), and to buy some bell peppers, and to spend a $100 the was in my possession. Even in non-COVID times spending $100 bills can be problematic, however YDFM is famously a “no credit card” business so I figured they’d be able to handle the task. I also assumed that I’d be racking up at least $50 in purchases because I figured I’d be a kid in a candy store, but because my house is currently well stocked and I didn’t find as many unique items as I hoped, I only made it to $20. The cashier was taken aback with my $100 bill, and had to give me eight $10 bills in change. 😂

Another odd task that was killed before it ever really got off the ground was Cyber Monday purchasing the hardware necessary for me to start a YouTube channel. 😂😂😂

Today I hope to restart my Clean and Organize efforts, pushing hard to make my house more enjoyable for me by year’s end.

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 188.0 pounds (+0.8 from last week’s weigh-in); not great, but not bad either.

I never found what hit the house over Sunday night- it would appear no damage was left.

I did get a ride in on the new trainer, but it took me a solid half hour to get it all connected and talking.. the trainer has to talk to my phone and the phone has to be on the same wireless network as the PC. It would seem simple enough, but the trainer will time out if it isn’t connected in a timely manner and the phone will just as likely connect to one wireless network or the other, without much preference. When I came out of the office, Debbie asked what was I screaming at….

And one more frustration already today. I have been meaning to schedule a chat with the retirement folks to make sure I’m doing all I should to be ready to pull the plug on my Fed career. The benefits folks have a well designed website where you can find lots of info, check your investments… and schedule an appointment with the retirement folks… now scheduling for MARCH!!! WTF, O? I first thought there was something wrong with the app, as all of December was “grayed out”, then Jan, then Feb…. holy crap!

Cold last night.. all the ponies and a certain donkey are all wearing their binkies. No snow here.

    • But at least the screaming worked… 😂

I wonder if March suggests that they are backed up because of COVID, or that there are a lot of employees in your situation?

Not sure- I’m going to reach out to our local HR folks and see what the deal is. Strangely, this national group isn’t well known for high quality service. The very few times I have interacted with them, it’s as if they are going out of their way to do their F’ing job.

  2. Today is Giving Tuesday. While I will be contributing I must confess that I will not be as generous this year due to my own (future) financial concerns, as well the lessened tax benefits for my small amount donations.

  3. It’s a little sad and strange to see that I was injured 🤕 the entire month of November. Of course the same was pretty much true for September and October. 😢

  4. Whew, this cold weather really highlights how inefficient my sixty-year-old single-pane windows are. 🥶

  5. Steve says:

Southwest R/T to Denver, $108 most days in Jan and Feb. Might just have to go skiing at that price.

  6. Huh, I just received an email from my orthopedic doctor announcing her retirement in January.

On the surgery front, it appears that I am scheduled for a week from tomorrow, but I have to wait until next week to get a confirmed time? Strange. Very strange.

  7. Getting a pre-op COVID test today, and then a pre-op interview on Monday. I’m sure both of these will cost me more money. 😕

  8. Miffed that after a good workout I ate too much food for lunch. ☹️
