Knocking out a quick one this morning as I have a full day planned. Today is my mother’s 91st birthday, and I am not in Florida to celebrate with her this year. Instead I will have to call her, hopefully before she goes to play bingo.

Apparently my futon is Sleep Central. After a hard few hours of being outside planting and such, followed by a rinse of the mountain bike and then one of my body, I sat down for a quick dinner and logged onto a non-work Zoom conference about climate change in Georgia. I kid you not, I fell asleep during the last half of the conference.😮 It’s a good thing my audio and video were turned off… 😂 That nap led to me cashing my chips in early again. This farmer lifestyle…

I found out yesterday that my fancy-pants 3’x6’ raised beds, when constructed, measure 35”x71” which makes the internal 12”x12” squares that I planned to use as a planting guide impossible. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I will be making a quick Lowe’s run in a few minutes to purchase more soil/compost/manure. Boy howdy do the raised beds take a lot of soil, and I am going to need more to fill grow bags when the time comes to transplant peppers and tomatoes, as well as plant my seed potatoes.

Thought time constrained I will hope to get outside in the sunshine for an hour or so this afternoon to do some yard cleanup.

Hope you have a healthy and happy Hump Day.

  1. Back from Lowe’s where I couldn’t find any of the 1300 bags of “compost” (manure) that the website says are available. I was too pained to walk the entire store and couldn’t be bothered talking to an employee this morning. I did manage to buy six bags of soil for the beds, bags, and pots, so I’ve got that going for me…

    Happy birthday to your mom!

You better save some money for fun stuff with with your friends this year…

  4. Following on from yesterday (Monday?), I just saw an article saying that Fry’s is about to close all of its stores.

Shoulda/coulda/woulda ride outside yesterday, but just couldn’t pull the trigger. I saw a bit of wind in the trees, so that’s my lame excuse. Indoors was still where it was at for a good 40 minutes.

I did pull the trigger on Star Link. Currently we pay $120 for slow satellite service limited to 50 Gigs a month. Elon and his crew have quick and unlimited satellites for $99 (with a $499 setup and equipment charge). I think his price will come down eventually.

A good son would have already sent flowers to his mom for her 91st birthday!!

  6. Does anyone know the hasher “Sloppy Stool”, a woman in Charlotte? My friend Tamara (aka “Glitter Box”) sold her Prague rego to her, and she claims to know me. 🤷🏻‍♂️
