Sitting here waiting for the sun, or some semblance of the sun, to rise this morning…

Yesterday was a return to habits day. I started my day doing a little iOS development training before getting antsy and feeling the need to move about. Perhaps I will start my day off the same way today as the weather forecast says that the threat of rain will subside by noon. I want to dedicate the entire afternoon to working in WLF. There are chores I want to accomplish today, including cleaning up some of the branches that have fallen over the past few days, thankfully doing no damage.

I made it to Aldi yesterday, and somehow managed to spend over $70 on “essentials”. 🙄 It’s a good thing that I couldn’t find everything I was seeking while in the store. 😂 While I was in the Aldi shopping center I considered going into Wells Fargo to get laundry quarters, but couldn’t be bothered to do so. My laundry is really piling up, but I won’t get around to doing it until next Monday since I know that I will be getting muddy at least twice more before then.

In the afternoon yesterday I also convinced myself to ride the trainer for an hour again. Huh, look at me! While I was spinning the cranks I watched a documentary on YouTube about an apartment in Portland, Oregon that was converted into a community garden apartment. As you can imagine, it ticked all the boxes for me.

Last night was my turn to cook for Top Chef night. I was feeling a little creative, and had planned to bring over some veggie sausages for dinner. At Aldi I bought some Vidalia onions, and after slicing them, put them into a crockpot with some brown sugar and balsamic vinegar to make a faux caramelized onion jam. The jam was good, but if I were to do it over again I’d omit the brown sugar when also using sweet onions. With the sausages I brought a salad of store-bought lettuce with some tomatoes (some of the last of this year’s crop) and some radishes (from WLF, but my radishes are always a little weird; small and disfigured).

As I mentioned above, today will be spent doing some more coding practice and choring. Tonight I will treat myself to a beer with whatever dinner I whip up.

Hope you are well, happy, and can make it a good day for all around you.

Probably just more chores today. The husband booked workers to come to the house both today and tomorrow during the prime hours of the day. Seriously? Yesterday I tried out the neoprene seat covers I bought for the CR-V, now all seats are hash-approved! 😁 That is, if I ever drive the car to a hash. 😂 They are just the kind you slip on when using. They aren’t attractive but I think they’ll get the job done. I drove the car home from the Edgewood Shopping Center and I managed to get a tiny scratch on the side mirror due to someone’s tree trimmings sticking out into the road and I didn’t feel I could swerve over. The husband disagrees. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I told him a black car will show every scratch and he needed to be prepared for that.

    • Wait, you can hire people to come to your house and perform work? 🙄😂😂😂 Note to self: schedule HVAC maintenance checkup today.

Remember Hank’s father’s advice – “When you get a new car take a rock and throw it at the car. Yes, you’ll put a dent into it, but you will be the one who did so and you can stop worrying about it.”. 😂 No, I did not do that either.

LOL. It’s not really “workers”, just the winter HVAC check and the annual inspection of our encapsulated crawlspace / systems.

Good to get that first scratch out of the way early. It’s inevitable unless you want to drive around in bubble wrap, but that might make you an even bigger target! 😂

Connie & I & checked out an assisted living place nearby yesterday. They have a guest (try it out) program, at about $250-300 a night, they said it’s usually a single person, so they don’t have a price for 2 people. They have 3 meals a day, but I know mom & dad would just want their cereal in the morning, so they would only do 2 meals (lunch & dinner).
We are trying to see if they’d go “on vacation” there for 2 weeks. That’s how we are selling it. The ladies that were our tour guides suggested 2 weeks, as the 1st week it’s all so new, they may not enjoy & the 2nd week is usually better. We will discuss more today, I may extend my trip to sees about moving them there Monday.
    This is soooooo fun.
Cleaning out closets, old pictures stashed everywhere. Found a bunch of old letters from my dad when he was in the Air Force in the 50s, havent looked at them closely.

My dad is on “vacation” at a memory care facility this week while my high-risk COVID stepmom feels she should travel to a anti-vaxxer wedding in Texas. Fun times.

      • Barb says:

This is all so crazy. At least everyone at the are facility is vaccinated, and as long as all visitors mask up, they are ok with visitors. The lockdowns were part of the reason why we hadn’t really considered this before.

  3. The sky has turned blue and it’s getting warm outside. What is going on here!?!?

  4. I’d complain about the skies returning back to gray and starting to rain, except for the fact that I was already burnt out on doing WLF choring today.
