Even if weren’t trying to play to role of a wee little farmer I would be tired of the day-long rains that we have now. Perhaps we have always had them and I have just not taken notice, but they stick in my mind more strongly now. I’m sure by now my makeshift rain barrel is overflowing.

I was outside until the rain arrived yesterday. I spent the morning doing more cleanup in WLF, using Wee Little Chipper to grind up a pile of small branches I had accumulated.

Last night I stayed in, naturally because who would want to go out in that weather? I watched YouTube videos while eating leftover soup, and then watched the documentary Kiss the Ground. I thought the documentary was good, making interesting observations about the planet and out environment.

Today? Well, if/when the rain stops I will go out into WLF to see how it has handled the past day, I’ll guess three inches, of rain. I also would like to run drive to a grocery store and buy some provisions for this weekend.

I need to start making a plan for camping in brutally cold weather today as well. I think I will be jettisoning a bunch of convenience items I’d bring to a normal campout and using that space for more clothes, blankets, etc. I wonder if REI sells a tent heater…

Tonight I will be hanging out with Betsy and Bella at their house. It’s Betsy’s turn to cook, so at least I don’t have to plan for that today.

Hope all is going well in your world, and that you are remaining healthy (or returning to better health in your case David).

I solved today’s Wordle in five guesses.

After lunch I’ll drive to Johns Creek for day 1 of an ice cream taste test. 90 minutes per day. I don’t have time for this AT ALL but hey, the stipend will completely cover my campout rego and chili ingredients. And maybe some of the other cold-weather crap I may look into buying today or tomorrow. Heh.

  2. Seeds down into started pods and on heat mats.
About to head out to stores to knock out those chores, so I can return to do WLF and camping choring if the rain stops for a few hours in the afternoon.

Barnes and Noble, Caroline Street is closing, 40% discounts.

I really need a rain gauge, but haven’t remembered to buy one at the store. Rain seems to have moved on out for the day- at least whatever is still out there is too light for the radar.

As I drove home from the Games meeting, I think it finally quit around the airport. Reports from recent games (Jax and Orlando) say huge crowds. Always a good sign.
Most of Burt and my planned changes were approved by the various committees that will be affected. We wanted to shift some music stages, but don’t have enough power where we need it.

Worlde in 5 and it took a while.

Wordle is 4 – haven’t played in a few days.

no idea how much rain we got – but, it starting to get a little lighter out side, so maybe the rain is gone for a little while?

  6. Guess I should eat some crow. I went to Walmart and bought the last tent heater they had on the shelf. May decide not to bring it this weekend, but I want the option.

    • Barb says:

how is it powered – batteries?

      • Propane canisters, which is why I am unsure I am going to use it. I considered seeing how long my big-ass battery could power an electric heater, but I am not sure that’s a good idea either.

My tent is three-season. My sleeping bag is three-season. The temperatures on Saturday and Sunday morning are predicted to be in the low twenties.

We are probably stupid to be camping and hashing this weekend.

I had a rare Wordle fail today. I was one letter off on my 4th, 5th, and 6th choices.

Good meeting with the surgeon. So far so good. It’s going to be a long recovery, I stay in the sling outside the house and go back in a month. Xrays look good for where we are. No PT for a long while yet. He did give me two really gentle exercises I can do.
