Why did I even look at hashing pages?!?! Yesterday I looked at the hashers registered for Saturday’s AH4 40th Anniversary. STUPID STUPID STUPID PAULIE!!! Last night’s Moonlite hash started at Brownwood Park (Again?!?! It seems to start there more often since I quit hashing!), at least I wasn’t dumb enough to go to the start…

Trying to figure out what I am going to do this weekend since I won’t be at any of the hashes, for obvious reasons. Maybe I will go out of town because I feel that I need to get away from here. [update: plan for weekend getaway made, sorry, WLF! Ironically I will be going very near where everything began to fall apart. Follow me on Strava if you want to know more.]

Weather forecast for the next ten days appears to have highs in the mid-90s with no rain. I might have to buy another sprinkler if I want to keep WLF alive.

I solved today’s Wordle in two attempts; my starter today was TRACE

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 185.6 pounds (+0.2 from my weigh-in two weeks ago)

  1. NYT Mini Crossword in 1:02.

Needed three segments for Heardle, never paid close enough attention to that song to know its intro.

  2. Shoot, just realized that I forgot to make pickles from cucumbers last night. Stupid mindfucked headspace… I guess that I will make some this afternoon prior to heading to what will be a very warm bike ride tonight.

  3. At the Waschsalon. I was going to walk this morning but know I will be working in WLF to cobble together a watering scheme once I am done here. That, combined with the bike ride I am expecting to do tonight should provide plenty of exercise for today.

After getting up at 0445 to fly home yesterday, I was fading fast yesterday afternoon & evening. I really wish I was a napper. Allan’s mom has a million books on CD, and Annette is roadtripping soon, so we went over to peruse the library. The in-laws got the blue print plans for the cabin they are building in CO, so we got to look over those while we are there. Also went & bought Top Gun Maverick tickets for tonight ($6 on Tuesdays). Then got some dinner & I was in bed by 10pm, so early for me.

  5. David says:

Wordle in 5, starting with LEAST. NYT Mini in 44 seconds, Heardle in 1 second.

Not much else to report today. Hopefully I can get to the 50% mark on the second book, which is where I was supposed to be 10 days ago, but it’s fine, especially if I get there today.

  6. Jenka says:

Wow, Wordle in two! Well done!

Yesterday’s Wordle in 4 using STEAL, which did not help at all except to eliminate letters.

We went to see Maverick over the weekend, it was very entertaining if you just accept that it’s a big blockbuster movie, not an art house cinema movie. Both of us loved it!

Those of you thinking about durable powers of attorney and/or wills, please let me know if you want a referral. Kevin is a partner at the top estate planning firm in Atlanta and he can refer you to someone (his firm charges a lot of money for it and there’s no reason why you should pay those prices when you’re all pretty straightforward). It’s good to get it done!

    • Barb says:

Hey Jenka – we’d love a referral for fairly inexpensive easy estate planning. The no kids part makes it a little more interesting, but we know what we want to do, just need it all on paper.

And – I know exactly what Maverick is, just a fun movie that’s getting way too much press. I think it will be better on the big screen. (for $6)

    • I would as well. Obviously i have no spouse nor children, so it should be an easy job to set up who gets stuck with all of my material possessions, and money.

    • Jenka says:

Here you go! Please tell him Kevin O’Sullivan sent you, these lawyers keep track.

  7. Barb says:

Wordle in 3 – with Paulie’s start word
Headle in 3, knew the song but I’m horrible at song names & needed more music.
Mini in 2:24….. put 1 word wrong & it messed me up.

we have an old pinball machine, thought maybe we should get it working before most of the Spain Groves get here in July. (No Kevin, he’s working the Tour de France I think)

  8. Unfortunately can’t find a solution for watering all of WLF using the parts on hand. One sprinkler cannot cover the whole farm, and there is not enough water pressure to run two in series. I could buy another expensive timer and run each independently off a splitter, but I am not impressed enough with the timer I bought to pay $100 for another.

    • Barb says:

be an old school farmer & just let the weather gods determine what happens.
I seem to have the best luck with the plants I ignore.

      • I might have to. I am just worried that I will be gone for up to eight days and Atlanta will receive no rain and experience brutal heat. I’m not sure the plants can survive that. I’d hate to come home to a completely dead WLF.

  9. Steve says:

Sorry for just now checking in, but I wanted to get rolling to beat the heat and was heading west by 0700.

Buc-ees in Leeds was an easy first fuel stop, and gave me a chance to warn Terri I was close. The old way into Homewood from the East and I only missed one turn and knew it once I passed it. Not too bad for over 50 years ago navigation.

Hip biscuit breakfast and catchup with Terri, then find I-22 just north of B-ham and haul a$$. Nice, rolling interstate with mostly trucks (also hauling…)

Just south on Memphis in Tunica for the night. I had no idea what to expect from my body after 400 miles on the bike, but could have kept going. In retrospect, should have planned to be past Memphis, as now I get to play in the AM rush. I will be crossing the River against traffic, I think.

Now to win my fortune at the blackjack table.

  10. You know it’s hot outside when you start sweating profusely while all you are doing is standing around watering the farm!

I will be riding tonight, though I don’t know if the group is as well since I am not on the group text group. Oh well, I need the exercise and sweating out last night’s beer will be welcome.

    • Steve says:

Sweating is good for you. AMHIK. But still be careful. It’s dangerously hot out there when you’re exercising.
Somewhere, I have a programmable watering timer we’re not using, if you’d be interested.

      Wordle in 3
Heardle in a fraction of a second ( a favorite)

      • I will be cycling, so I will be carrying plenty of water with me.

Thanks for the timer offer, but I will need is asap. I’ll be headed back to Lowe’s tomorrow morning to see what I can do.

I will also head to Kroger since I don’t have the right vinegar for pickle making. D’oh!
