I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was RINSE

Complete failure with the NYT Mini Crossword, I had to give up since after two minutes I didn’t have a single answer.
Surprisingly got today’s Heardle using only the first second.
I knew the band on Heardle, but had to look at all the choices to remember the name. I’m so horrible at song names.
Mini – with some help from google – 3:37. I always finish it, jsut need help some days.
took me 6 on Wordle.
Heardle took 2 seconds and Wordle in 3, opening with SAINT.
Since you whiffed on the Mini, I tried it as well and also whiffed.
I waited out the thunder yesterday, which produced no rain on us, and was able to get the grass cut. The unplanned stirring of the yellow jackets delayed completion, but I was able to send most of them to meet their maker. Only one nailed me, which is how I realized what I had done.
30 years ago today, “A League of Their Own” was released. A nice article in ” The Athletic” (NYT) about “Marla” (the homely girl) and how she got the role and stories from the shoot.
THE TOUR STARTS TODAY! During the team introductions on Wednesday, Mark Cavendish’s team was introduced with Cav’s picture in the green jersey on the Jumbotron… unfortunately Cav isn’t on the team this year! Whoops.

Rode 17 on the CVS ride last night. We just made it in before the storms arrived in Decatur. Lightning arrived soon after and we took shelter at the end. My bike got drenched/cleaned on the drive home.
That’s funny about le Tour. I will have to start watching upon my return home. I have told one person where I am going, in case I don’t return for whatever reason.
Dis you take shelter at Taco Mac? I’ve started going to Taco Mac Decatur more often now that the Va-Hi one has shit the bed.
Kevin is at the Tour – his little tidbit of info (he doesn’t do a very good job of posting for us) was he got a haircut from the Alpecin team. He said the barber is the German national champion. Who knew barbers have a national champ? I asked if he got free samples of shampoo too – he said yes!
Not sure if he will be out in the Bora team car, or if he’s doing behind the scenes stuff yet. I’m guessing they switch out.
and – I just realized most days while Katrina & the kids are here, we will be watching the Tour in the mornings. I guess I better check my DVR.
I swung for the fences and hoped that today would be the day that QUACK was the starting word. Nope! I recovered quickly, I had 4 letters in the correct position in 3 and the correct answer in 4.
NYT Mini has been tough as of late. 1:23 for me. Heardle in 1 second, although that first second can be tough to catch, so two seconds is certainly equally respectable.
Last full day in Hilton Head today. I first made it here on a four day weekend jaunt with my kids last year where we hit Charleston-Hilton Head-Savannah in succession. I’ve been wanting to come back to Hilton Head ever since, now that I get why it’s so popular. We rode 10 miles on the beach earlier in the week. Starting the day with pancakes soon, finishing this evening in search of a much better pina colada than the one that was served to me earlier in the week.
I’ll be “running” the Peachtree Road Race for I think my 24th time on Monday. I’ve lost track over the years. I haven’t run it since the Boston Marathon bombing, back in the day I got spooked thinking about how 60,000 people is a pretty massive target. It’ll be good to be back. I’ll see if I can still finish in a little over an hour without having trained a bit like I could back in the day. It’ll depend on how my 14 year old daughter feels about things, this is her first Peachtree.
I once volunteered at the PRR and worked at the start. I was in the line of folks at the front of a time group and got to “walk” the group to the line. Seriously, I knew if the group started and I tripped getting out of the way, I would be trampled to death. Not. Joking.
You’re absolutely right. Thank you for your service!
My first PRR was 2012 and I was in corral C. It’s been all downhill from there!
I “ran” back in the 90s – I think we were way back. Then I pub crawled for a few years with the hashers. Then I decided I liked sleep better than getting up at the butt crack of dawn.
Allan has to be to work at 0400am on Monday – he’s so excited. I guess Grady has no one “available” for the race, so the fire department has to have a whole lot of people. Bike teams & some on carts.
My first was 1996, it was also the first “race” in which I ever ran! I was very good until I started pub crawling, and then damaging an IT band running my only marathon in 2001. I have never run well since.
Wordle in 4 starting with FIGHT.
Happy Birthday ‘Merica and thanks to my boss for a bonus day off today.
Be safe on your travels Paul and hope everyone has a good weekend!
Oh yeah, Happy Canada Day! If it weren’t so goddamn cold in Canada I’d be considering a move there.
Another heavy rainstorm is hitting EAV and WLF. It seems like just yesterday when I had to devise a plan to water WLF in my absence due to a nearly three-week drought.
Always reminds me that I need to get onto the roof and clear my gutter guards…
yes- go clean those gutters……. or hire someone to do it.
its been raining on & off here – nothing much – but it is wet out.
just had an out of the blue lunch invite from Yassir – met him over at the Red Eyed Mule. They were busy today – I decided to have a bacon grilled cheese instead of a burger – who am I?????
I used to hire someone, but for $200 I can do it myself. I just need for it not to be raining, and not 95°F.
Yesterday’s Wordle in 4 using PIVOT. I would like to announce that “pivot” is one of my favorite words.
As of COB today I will be on vacation for 2 weeks! WHEE!
Whoop whoop! Have fun.
What are the Quick-Step riders wearing on their heads? I wonder if it’s how the helmet is being held on (instead of a chin strap) and reduces the wind flow past your ears…
Those are bizarre helmets.
Keeling fingers crossed that the ran doesn’t show up where I am. So far, so good, but Ack
Jack got another dousing/cleaning on my drive here.
