David/Lurker, I can’t remember on which day this month you celebrate a birthday. So if I missed it, I humbly apologize.

I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was ORGAN. Probably would of had it in four if I slowed down and thought about it more. Disappointing.

  1. NYT Mini Crossword in 1:20. Disappointing.

Heardle in two seconds. Not disappointing.

  2. Last night’s dinner used potatoes, carrots, and radishes from WLF. Not bad.

Making $50 today (before gas consumption deduction), which actually doesn’t go very far these days…

I think in August I am going to start ramping up to get some sort of employment on 2023. Most of my salary will be saved for a new vehicle (eventually), and house repair/renovation.

Finally, not watching TdF live today, so no spoilers please.

Wordle FAIL! How many possible combinations could there be when you don’t have the first and middle letter? In this case, a lot.

Yesterday’s TdF stage was pretty amazing to watch. I don’t think I’ve ever seen 2 teammates work over another rider quite like that. We’ll see if he’s able to come back. And no live coverage if you aren’t on Peacock (and I’m not). Coverage at 3 today.

I think I’m done with all the paperwork from the race last weekend. We shall see.

Thanks for the shout-out, Paulie. You are 2 days older than me, so nope you didn’t miss anything. Our trifecta of July birthdays goes Barb, you, and then me.

Wordle in 6. I had three correct letters in place on my second try, 4 correct letters on my fourth try, and still it took six attempts.

NYT Mini in 38 seconds. Heardle fail. Yes, I know the 90s wants their music fan card back. I like that band, I just never went beyond what got played on the radio.

Those that are a fan of that band may appreciate this:

    • Ha! They are another of the short list of bands who I consider to be one of my favorites, yet have never, and probably will never, see perform live.

Will check out that video now. Interesting. You may recall this is one of my karaoke songs…

Heard Rage Against the Machine is playing in the southeast on 7/31, also the date of my final Atlanta area hash. I saw them at Lollapalooza in 1994 and would love to see them again. Though, it’s been nearly thirty years (!!!) so perhaps it’s just better to have that be a memory.

      • David says:

It’s a crapshoot for sure when deciding whether to see bands from back in the day. Some of them are wretched, (looking straight at you, Bob Dylan, Mark Knopfler, and Journey), but others, like Def Leppard absolutely bring it. Deep Purple put on an impressive show as well. I have a hard time seeing Rage Against the Machine muddling through a show. I think you’d have a great time and would feel young again for an evening, which is pretty damn priceless at this age.

Wordle fail starting with STORM. I didn’t have my head in the game.

Grand central here today with the farrier, landscape guy and person to hold my horses for the farrier. Looking forward to having our weeds under control. The guy charges by the hour, but he works like a whirling dervish.

My back was feeling pretty good until I fought with the pony to get meds in his eye. He finally got a pretty hard smack and was shocked into standing still for a second.

    Happy Friday Eve!

  6. Well, I have yet to earn my $50 and I have already spent it. Oops!

  7. Barb says:

AC guys are installing. They were flipping the breakers & my internet went out & it took a while for it to come back. I’m finally caught back up.

I didn’t sleep well, so I’m tired today.

    • Good luck with your install.

Weird, I slept like shit too. I am running on caffeine this morning.

    • David says:

Welcome to my world. I rarely sleep well, but at least I don’t fight it any more. It is what it is, and thank whomever in human past came across caffeine. I’m forever indebted.

  8. David says:

Lidl opening on Memorial Drive next month on August 17. They’re pinky-swearing this time.

For the real cycling geeks amongst us, I just learned you can stream “Radio Tour” from the TdF. What this is, is a guy sitting in Comm 1, announcing to the teams and calling for service. All the teams are listening, as it’s the official word. Most is in both French and English, thought if he knows it’s a French team, it will likely only be in French. And as expected, on the descents, it’s pretty quiet because you won’t be calling a team car for service unless there’s a crash.

And we watched Tuesday’s stage last night. Who knew there was a protest that interrupted the break and they stopped and restarted the race?

  10. Discovered a small, but growing, wasp honeycomb outside my front door. Tried to knock it down with a stick but failed. Fortunately not stung, am deciding if I will try to knock it down tomorrow morning, or douse it will insecticide specifically made to kill them. I don’t mind wasps too ich, but I do mind where they decided to build their house.
