  1. NYT Mini Crossword in 41 seconds.

Heardle in less than one second.

  2. Last night I was all amped up to ride Stone Mountain this morning, now I am feeling incredibly lazy. I wish that I were motivated to ride.

Since I am not, I made breakfast and washed some dishes this morning.

I also sprayed and killed the wasps that were setting up house outside my front door. I generally don’t like doing that, but hey, there are so many other places where they could have created their nest…

    • I’ve come to peace with not riding this morning. I wandered around WLF, harvested a cucumber, some okra, a long eggplant, and a few long beans; perhaps these will be lunch. Also, since we haven’t had significant rain in a few days I turned the sprinklers on to give most of the farm a wee little bit of pre-sunshine water.

  3. Steve says:

Wordle FAIL! That’s twice this week.

The crowds on Alp du Weeze were nothing short of amazing (and scary) yesterday. Bastille Day, maybe? And 2 entire teams missed sign in yesterday- That might get corrected if the DS talks to the comms (we were stuck in traffic). Maybe.

Wanted to ride yesterday, but there were storms in the area (at least on radar) and I didn’t feel like getting wet.

Tanner’s eye, where the vet stitched the eyelid together looks GREAT! You seriously can barely tell it was sliced open. He is no fan of the ointment in the eye, however.

Hearing aid appointment this afternoon. I know this isn’t an age thing, but it still makes me feel old. Between that and still being in pain from my pony exit almost 2 weeks ago… this old age $hit is not for sissy’s.

    • I sometimes wonder if the motorcycle wasn’t in front of the riders splitting the crowds momentarily if the riders would know where the road is. It was quite claustrophobic, perhaps because it was Bastille Day. Good ride by Froome yesterday, probably due to expert mechanic work by a Grove family member. 🙂

My Wordle was aided by the fact that I had few good letters remaining after my third guess, especially since I had the first letter correctly placed by my fourth guess.

      • Steve says:

There were occasions at AToC where we had to drive through crowds almost as bad, and you’re right- the road is undeterminable. The crowd knows and parts to allow passage. Still, I’m amazed there isn’t more contact…

Froome did have a great ride. Now if he can string a bunch of them together, then he might have something. No doubt, the second best mechanic in the Grove family helped immensely.

  4. Hey, I just realized that today is Friday!

Saw that Chipper Jones bought a $3M mansion in Blue Ridge. I guess that I really can’t afford to move there…

    • Steve says:

      Genius.

      • Living la vida retirement, okay, unemployment.

        • Steve says:

I was going to say, “and it’s payday!” but that would just be rubbing it in.

Let me know your riding plans this weekend. I put Debbie on a plane for Seattle tomorrow, so I’m on my own for a week.

          • Every day is payday when you have no job!

Probably not riding this weekend, which is why I wanted to get out today. I am walking with Betsy in the morning tomorrow and then have a brewery plan in the afternoon. On Sunday I should/am meeting up to reccy for my final Atlanta area hash.

  5. David says:

Wordle in 5, starting with CRANE. Had the first and last letter in place on my second attempt but couldn’t bring the final word to mind.

NYT Mini in 38 seconds, Heardle threw us a bone today. I was surprised to see that song came out in 1973, I would have thought it was a few years later. Heardle 70’s was a slam dunk today too.

Someday when I’m no longer writing two books at once I’ll be available to ride too.

    • Sometimes I get slowed down for the NYT Mini because their virtual keyboard is laid out slightly differently from the iPad’s.

      • David says:

Yeah, some days my fingers are just too damn fat. I’ve only ever completed the Mini on my iPhone, so I can’t imagine trying to complete it quickly on an iPad. I really only use my iPad once a year for a technical editing gig that requires me to review a couple hundred pictures for a book, which makes it the ideal tool for that job. Otherwise it collects dust the rest of the year.

  6. Barb says:

WELL – a slight hiccup with HVAC – the pump to get the water out doesn’t seem to be working, so the pan filled up with water & the AC stopped working. Good thing it did what it was supposed to do, because that water would have made a fine mess down in the basement. We wet vac’d the water out, so the AC did run most of the night. Bill (the owner) is back this morning trying to get it all straightened out. Nothing can ever go right the 1st time.

We didn’t watch the Tour – I guess maybe we should watch yesterday’s stage? Did you actually have a Kevin sighting?
We watched Everything, Everywhere, All at Once last night. I’m not a huge fan of the sci-fi multi-dimensional stories – but Allan really enjoyed it.

  7. Barb says:

also – we were gifted some tickets to see a comedian (Karen Mills) at the Strand (Marietta Square) tonight. A friend hurt his back doing something stupid at a pool, so they can’t go. I’ve never heard of her, but what the hell – I’m told she’s funny. I’m trying to decide if I should watch a video or 2 of her, or go in cold.

  8. Just returned from Publix where I was “that guy”. I bought a bunch of Pillsbury biscuits because the BOGO sign was in front of them and I couldn’t determine if the sign was misplaced. Then, they didn’t ring up as BOGO, so I mentioned it and caused a delay. In the end I was in the wrong, but because the sign was where it shouldn’t have been the manager gave me the deal.

  9. Barb says:

Herdle 70s – I should have known that one after watching Ally McBeal on Hulu.

  10. Barb says:

HVAC install team gets to come back later – not really sure what they did wrong (Allan doesn’t think “whatever” is the problem, but we are no experts of course) but they will come back & do something. We will see this afternoon. Bill will be back later too. I’m guessing he doesn’t want a bad review? I would never do that, unless it goes really bad, and I know he will do whatever it takes to get it right. I mean, we spent a Whole lot of money.
As it is, it works, just the water doesn’t drain, so when that pan fills up, it will shut off. Wet vac to the rescue for now.

  11. Trying to be creative and right a hare song for my final BS. I have a few tunes I am considering, now I need to come up with clever lyrics.

  12. Debbie says:

Wordle in six starting with AISLE. For the first FIVE tries I only had one letter and it was in the correct place. By the time I got the sixth try, I had used every letter except the right ones and FJVXYZ. I wore the freaking alphabet out. I think the odds of that working that way are pretty damn out there.

Getting packed for my trip. Super pumped about cooler weather!!

  13. Turning out to be a highly unproductive day. Thus far the only highlight was lunch, for which I cooked up some vegetables from WLF and paired it with two ears of corn I had in the refrigerator.

  14. Used my new bike chain cleaning whirligig, and am not overly impressed. I still used a low of paper towels to clean the mountain bike’s chain. And, I still made a mess.

Though low in humidity by Georgia standards, it is still hot out there.

  15. Bundesliga 2 starts today? Huh! Thankfully Werder Bremen’s season doesn’t start until the top flight Bundesliga starts in August.
