Today is the eighteenth anniversary of my carjacking, the event which ultimately started me blogging.

I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was BRISK

  1. NYT Mini Crossword in 69 seconds. Not feeling the speed today.

    Heardle fail.

Regarding 18 years ago, a lot of good has arisen from something bad (meaning this blog). Thank you for keeping it going.

Wordle in 3, two days in a row! I’ve been feeling like I’d totally lost my mojo on that lately. Mini was a little squirrelly today, which always works as a speedbreaker. 67 seconds. Heardle fail. I knew and like the song but would not be able to pick the song or the artist out of a line-up.

Hopefully after tomorrow I’ll be down to working on just one book. Well, let’s say two instead of three. A technical edit that I do every year has joined the chat, but I have a lot of that knocked out. This writing stuff is definitely cramping my bike riding style. I need to get a 50 mile ride in soon.

PT on my knee starts today. It’s always something at this age, isn’t it? Just you wait, Jenka. 😉 😉 😉

Wordle in 4 and I’m embarrassed as to how long that took. The better part of 45 minutes!

Dogs and burgers for 200 Saturday evening at the Games kickoff party. Getting the smell of grease off of me takes much longer- day two and I can still smell it. As Norman was telling a story of our recently passed on member Marilyn, a loud clap of thunder was heard and the timing couldn’t have been more appropriate!

Some quality time on the scooter yesterday (100 miles) and some pasture and lawn mowing. I believe I’m battling an armadillo, as there are sections of the side yard that have been dug up. I asked George and he pleaded innocent. The war begins…

  4. Two hours outside, lawn mowing and WLF puttering, was enough to break a decent sweat this morning.

Cucumbers are coming to an end, and they are not being helped by the worm that ate into one of the few remaining on the vines.

  5. Well shit, my primary care physician just sent an email stating he is going to join Piedmont VIP, and new concierge medical service, and will only be seeing patients who enroll in the $2500/year service. Time to find a new primary care physician…

    Testing, testing…

Wordle in 4 starting with BLOKE. Mini in 20 seconds, BOOM!

Nice weekend. I spent Saturday afternoon with a college friend. Her daughter is 16, and she had me ride with her on the commute from Clarkston to her job on Chamblee Tucker She nearly killed me at the first light pulling in front of a speeding car. We had a couple more close calls on the 20-minute drive. The child is NOT ready to be driving on her own. I suggested a driving school so that someone other than her mom is telling her when she screws up.

Rode yesterday and cooked a giant meatloaf for dinner. It should’ve cooked a bit longer, but it’ll make great sandwiches this week!

I really admire that you’ve kept this going for nearly 18 years Paulie. That takes a lot of discipline. And we all enjoy the forum you’ve created.

    • Twenty seconds? Yowza!

Thanks. There was obviously a day when I was far more creative with my writing, and the events of this year have really drained me as well.

      • David says:

Kudos Debbie on that 20 second Mini! And surviving that car ride!

Paulie, it’s much more about the community at this point. Your creativity got things going. I burned out on freelance writing after about 18 years, it gets tough to keep the creativity going unless you pick a different angle to come at things from.

And before I forget, A nice article about RAGBRAI on the NPR website.

  9. Now going to a friend’s daughter’s wedding the weekend of the hash Hartwell campout. With hotel, wedding gift, and new suit (I assume none of my old suits fit me), I will be out about $500. This year just keeps on getting more expensive…

  10. Steve says:

A new suit you might be able to use in job interviews? Good plan.

Something to take your mind off not going to Hartwell? Also a good plan.

    • Yep, suit which can be used for interviewing (if I want to work again) and perhaps for another future reason (about which I don’t wish to think about or discuss).

Yes, I was intending to go somewhere else that weekend until I realized that the wedding is on the 24th.
