Sorry for my silence, I am in another place that has little cell service. To make up for it here is a long-for-2022 blog post…

Since I couldn’t camp last week and I messed up my calendar dates thinking that the hash campout was this weekend, I have popped up to Fort Mountain State Park for a long weekend of camping. I am hoping to get in some road cycling while I am here. Black bears are out up here, thus changing my camping routine completely. A bear wandered the campground around 7pm last night, it didn’t come very close, but it got close enough for my liking. Having to keep all coolers and food in my car may keep me from driving somewhere to go for a long bike ride since I planned to empty the car when going somewhere else to ride. At about 8pm I saw a cat walking through the park. There is a little bit of everything up here!

Thus far the weather has been ideal, and it looked perfect going forward, and then it started raining heavily at 9:15pm. As if this morning everything outside is soaked; as I type this it is still too dark to see how things look around my tent, and the forecast says light rain again at 8am. DANGEN!

Am I happy yet? Obviously not. The constant nagging of injuries and genetic maladies are really wearing me down. You know my thumb will never be 100% since damage it at Spring Tune Up? It hurts to this day, and I assume that I did nerve damage to it that weekend.

By coming up here to go camping last night I skipped a concert for a band I really wanted to see, at the new venue on Memorial Drive, because I couldn’t deal with the emotional stress.

Amazon continues to piss me off. I placed an order that was due to arrive next Thursday. Then the shipping date got moved to Monday, fine. Now they say it will be delivered Saturday, not fine since I won’t be home until Monday! I get that Amazon doesn’t give a shit about me, but I keep thinking that when I place an order and a shipping date is quoted that I have entered into an agreement. Shame on me.

There you go, enough blather to last you an entire weekend.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was CARGO

I love to camp in the rain. Peaceful. Have fun. I love the bears but the bears at Fort Mountain are kind of pesky. There was a mama and 3 cubs hanging around last year when I was up there. Wanted to take one home. :). I have a busy week-end coming up. A 5k in the morning and then working all day. Dirtbag potluck Saturday night. Four Inch coming down for a visit and the hash. And I am dog sitting an elderly dog.

Why would you empty the car when you go somewhere else to ride?
    No picture of the bear?

Watching GMA this morning – if I stay negative – according to the new CDC guidelines – if I was paying attention – I don’t have to isolate. So, I may still do some of my weekend activities. I still feel fine. I need to make the potato salad for the hash – Dean is coming by to get the keg coolers – I just realized – no idea how he can transport them. I I may have to take them down to S Fulton County.

I don’t think you have to isolate. But if you have been exposed I think you are supposed to wear your mask in public places. I still wear my mask at work as who knows who walks in those doors. Also, I think you are contagious prior to showing symptoms. It’s all just bizarre. Wish it would go away. Hope you can make the hash.

    • My ride starts in a city park and I don’t like to invite trouble when I leave my car parked somewhere for hours. Empty May be the wrong term, I just want to make it appear empty, and my trunk isn’t large enough for that.

Wordle in 4, Mini eventually… even had to ask for help.

Not quite 20 on the CX bike yesterday. The dark clouds were off to the east and eventually rained a bit on us. More noise than anything.

George found my socks in the laundry basket (clean) and took them. That got him a spanking, then went back and got them again. Clearly this is a game to him. Or we’re not paying him enough attention. Bad attention is still attention.

Buyers are lining up for Ceili! That’s a good thing.

    Have fun camping..

I agree with Sally, camping in the rain is peaceful if you are set up right. If you don’t have a good setup then it is challenging.
Emergency vet visit for my dog yesterday, she was wobbling around like she is drunk and was throwing up all over like she has some sort of vertigo. Super high red cell count in her blood so may be having mini strokes or something else going on. She is back home and on some meds so we have to monitor and go back in a few days. Still wobbly but at least not throwing up all over. Poor doggo.
Looking forward to the Wheelhopper, going to be a shit show but should be fun.

    • Steve says:

Very sorry to hear about your dog. Never fun.

I paid big money for the hash, so I hope its not a complete SS. Still wondering- CX or MTB?

    • Rarely am I envious of you RVers out there. 🙂

I’m kinda glad I’m “missing” this hash. I’ll admit that over these past four months I’ve just about reached escape velocity for hashing. Doesn’t make me happy, but keeps me less sad.

    another negative test.
I really want to see my cousins – I really want to go to dinner tonight with them.

    • Steve says:

      Woo Hoo!

And speaking of cousins… one of my key Games volunteers dad passed away last week. In reading the obit, he was one of 18 brothers and sisters!! In the words of Groucho Marx, “I like a good cigar, but I take it out of my mouth once and a while.”

  6. Breakfast this morning was last night’s dinner — a pimento cheese Beyond burger. Last night I at beans and okra for dinner, and was not hungry for anything else. It’s funny how little food your body needs when you get no exercise.

  7. Thinking of driving over to Dalton today to hit the brewery, and then returning through Chatsworth to look at the ride start for tomorrow, unless it rains again tonight…

I love time lapse photographs and lightning bugs. Here are both. Amazing.

  9. Going back to the cell service dead zone for awhile. I’ll check back later.

  10. Hello from Angry Hops Brewing in Blue Ridge, GA. Unfortunately the Wee Angry is no longer available, but I have found ample substitutes. I think if I could afford to live near here this would be my favorite brewery.
