Finality is weird. Yesterday I stumbled across a Mass card from my father’s funeral; he’s been dead for over twenty-five years. Later in the day I had what will probably be the final contact with someone for whom I still care. Like I said, finality is weird.

I am sad today.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was RUINS

  1. NYT Mini Crossword in 40 seconds.

    Heardle fail.

  2. Sal says:

Don’t be sad. :(. Things could be worse…you could have gotten a drunk face time call from Stan, Brint and Cathy last night discussing my love life. lol. Or had to get a crown. The temps are really nice this morning. Get out and do something. The Sope Scum is starting back to running on Thursdays and Beer and Pizza afterwards at Harry’s. Will see about Trivia.

  3. David says:

    Wordle: 4
    Heardle: No chance in hell
    Heardle 70s/80s: Nailed ’em
    Mini: 36, yesterday’s in 29

Try to get out and move today, Paulie, and not just in WLF which seems to always jab you. Sunshine can help shrink sadness.

    • Barb says:

      Heardle 70s & 80s – all 3 in 1 second each! I feel accomplished this morning.

over 2 minutes for the mini – not my day.

      wordle in 4

  4. Barb says:

here’s my problem for today –
We are supposed to be white water rafting this weekend- kind of afraid for Allan to take another covid test- but it needs to be today so we can start planning & packing. I hope he doesn’t have to take another tomorrow……. I really don’t want to have to cancel this weekend. He’s already bummed about missing Wheelhopper last weekend.
I can’t win either way, if I go, I’ll feel bad he isn’t there, if I don’t go, he will be mad that I didn’t go.

  5. Did some seed sowing this morning. I think I am crashing Steve and Debbie’s lunch plan, but not sure when the will be meeting. Probably lunch time? Lol Although, I am not certain I am in the mindset to be around others at the moment.

Have showered an am considering a run to REI and Target, and need to do a Kroger stop today as well.

  6. Steve says:

Wordle in 4, mini in under 2. Maybe Heardles later

    Lunch at George’s at 12:30

We have a corner room at the Loews that looks mostly east. Dinner was take out sushi for me (OK)and a bowl for Debbie (fail). Except for the jackass and his Charger going down Peachtree wide open at some point through the night, I slept like a rock.

About to go work out in the hotel gym.

    See you shortly.

  7. Steve says:

Barb, is Allan still running a fever? My P/A said you can test positive for quite a while and not really be sick. 5 days after the fever is gone (without meds) and good to go.

  8. Jenka says:

Good morning! I didn’t do Wordle yesterday. Very busy day at work yesterday and then we went to Osteria 832 for dinner.

Started the Wendler program in my new gym at home, it’s a month-long weight program where you do a certain number of reps of the same weight twice per week, then after one month you go up 5 lbs, and so on. It’s slow and steady but if you keep at it, you can make some important gains.

  9. Surprisingly few VaHi bars open at lunchtime on a Thursday. Needed a pop before heading to George’s for lunch. Still having a rough day, even though I scored used mountain bike shoes at REI for 35% of the new cost, and a pair of “work pants” at Target for $25.

  10. Contemplating signing up for the 69 mile ride at Beautiful Backroads on 9/17. I know a few hashers who are already committed.

    • David says:

I rode the 100 mile course last year. I won’t do 100 again, but I’ll do one of the shorter routes this year. Routes up to 69 miles stay on the east side of I-75 and the route is just gorgeous. The last 31 miles on the west side of I-75 were fine, with the exception of where I was riding alongside a creek while a heron soared along beside me, that was pretty stunning. The thunderstorm with blinding rain didn’t help my experience on the west side of I-75. I’m taking my 13 year old son, we’ll see how ambitious he feels that day. All that to day it’s a cool ride, I recommend it.
