Unfortunately rain washed away my ride yesterday afternoon. It was a bummer because I was looking forward to riding the small group ride from Melton’s App & Tap.

Yesterday I received my first issue of Games magazine and spent some of the non-riding time doing puzzles.

I solved today’s Wordle in on my last attempt; my starter today was SLICE. There are days when there are too many possibilities…

  1. NYT Mini Crossword in 1:11. I just couldn’t get my head around the clues this morning.

    Heardle fail.

  2. David says:

Wordle in 6, starting word of BLOWN was almost too apt. 4 correct letters in 4 and then I kept playing the slots on the final letter.

Mini in 47. Clues were tricky/cutesy.

The clouds have parted on the training video I’m producing, the flow has finally revealed itself. Now to finish building the slides, recreate everything in Excel for Mac, and then record the videos before Friday morning. It’s achievable.

  3. Back from a quick Publix run. Considered riding this morning, suppose I still could, but I am now getting ready to do some seed sowing and dinner planning.

Wordle in 3! Mini in 2 with help.

I thought about your chances of a ride as I drove home yesterday is a s heavy a rain as I’ve driven in in a helluva long time. WAZE said Peachtree to Mitchell was faster than my normal Juniper/Courtland and I suppose it was. The water going down Mitchell was inches deep across all lanes and easily 6 or more at the bottom of the hill. Fortunately, the interstates were slow, but not stopped.

I came close to getting on my trainer last night, but laid down until the fever passed. I’m not ready for that yet.

Busy work day yesterday – got a note from Annette that they were going to El Ranchero about 5pm. I was like – F*ck it – I think I’ll just be done for the day & go meet them. It was raining pretty good at that time.

Hey Paulie- how’s your mom doing these days?
Talked to my brother for quite a while about the parents – same ole, same ole, but I try to keep up with him to be sure he isn’t getting too burned out on the caretaker shit. He’s doing ok, but I worry, they are challenging. We talk about assisted living, but until something drastic happens to force the issue, they are doing ok at the house. (and its $6000 ish a month cheaper this way)

    • I think she is doing alright, I have not spoken to her recently and that’s my fault. I have been so wrapped up on my own issues that I have not made the time. Neither my brother nor I can swing assisted living payments, whose high costs continue to astonish me.

      • Barb says:

Luckily – my dad’s pension (& social security & investments) for the past 34 years have done ok – so we will be ok on the assisted living payments for a while. But -they refuse to move, so we save that money.

    • Jenka says:

My parents were on the list to get into an assisted living place. I assume my dad will still do that, just get a smaller apartment.

      • Barb says:

My parents have been on a list for a apartment (or whatever you call it) for years – they are just holding at the top of the list now. The center calls my brother every month or 2, just to check in & see if we are ready. We wanted a 2 bedroom if possible – so 1 of us could stay with them if we were visiting, and they don’t have that many of the bigger ones. But -who knows now……

  6. Barb says:

Wordle – Fail – using Paulie’s start word – way too many options
Mini- I needed help from the google

  7. Steve says:

I think we’re all pretty lucky our parents were able to care for themselves (mostly). My dad was able to be my mom’s care giver with help from my sister.

  8. Jenka says:

Heh, every time you solve Wordle you do it on your last attempt, but I’m assuming you meant 6th. I’m working from home today so I did Wordle this morning and solved it in 3, which was also my last attempt.

    Still no change on Duolingo!

Today is our wedding anniversary so we’re going to Kevin Rathbun Steak for dinner tonight!

    • Touché. 🙂

I have deleted Duolingo from my iPhone, so I will not know if/when they revert their app. According to their leadership they declare that they will not, so they can go on without me.

      • Jenka says:

Are you going to try a different language app? I benefit so much from my daily language work.

        • I may try another app. Or, I may make an effort to dig back into my German text books and supplement that with reading and flash cards. I was starting to wonder how Duolingo was helping me since I was never learning the why behind the grammar.
