I’m not sure Apple made a compelling argument for me to upgrade my iPhone. And considering that they gave me a new pair of AirPods in June, and a new AppleWatch last month, I see no reason to upgrade these either. With me remaining unemployed this is probably a good outcome for me.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was MIGHT

  1. NYT Mini Crossword in 53 seconds.

    Heardle fail.

  2. Dealing with small spots of poison ivy which I must have picked up a few days ago while carrying branches to the back yard. Hopefully it doesn’t spread because I doubt it is good to go back for more steroids this soon. I now wish I had hoarded the prednisone instead of taking it after getting the shot.

  3. For fuck’s sake. I brought the mountain bike up to go out for a little morning fun ride and test out my rear tire patch, only to find out that the front tire is now flat. Dangen!

    • And now I can’t find the tire levers or patch kit that I used to fix the rear tire. Ugh.

Very disappointed not to find the tire levels in the seat pack, where they are supposed to live.

      • Found patch kit and pin hole in tube. Rubber cement is curing, but this may scrub my ride today. Still don’t know the whereabouts of the tire levers, this distresses me since I strive to be orderly.

      • If there is a sliver lining to this minor fiasco it’s that it has forced me to do a visual inventory of all of my cycling gear.

      • And the saga is over! The tire levers were wedged so tightly into the seat bag that they didn’t fall out. I wasn’t able to see them until I had better light.

Tube patched. Found a small thorn in the tire which I couldn’t feel from the inside, but could possibly cause a puncture under full tire pressure?

Man, your poison ivy experience is giving me some bad flashbacks. Hopefully it clears up. You can get more steroids if you need it. You’re getting a minor dose in the scheme of things. There are health conditions that get treated with IV steroids.

I had the first 4 letters in 3 today but it took 5 tries to close things out.

    Mini in 45 seconds.

Heardle fail, usual mixed bag of 1 or 2 second or fail on the others.

The video is done. Now to clear the remaining editor queries on the second book and then I can have a normal weekend. Phew! Some napping will be involved for sure. I knocked off “early” as of late at 11:30 last night. I’m glad to be reaching the end of this phase.

Like David and for the same reason, Wordle in 5. Mini in 2.

Cue the P,P and M (All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go…). At the gate. Through security pretty quickly- less than 10 minutes probably. I actually didn’t look, that’s how fast it was moving. Hopefully, the work will be easy on Saturday.

Getting used to being a slug. That’s not a good thing.

  6. Holy crap, big changes in La Vuelta today, including the abandonment of one of the jersey wearers!

  7. Barb says:

Didn’t John Denver sing that too?

  8. Going out to test my tire handiwork. Wish me luck!

    • Did not intend to aimlessly ramble for nearly two hours, but that’s what I did. I guess my tube patches are okay. Went as far east as Candler Park, far north as the south end of Tech, and as far west as Mercedes Benz. Good ride.

      • David says:

My favorite bike rides are aimless rambles, where I head out with no particular destination in mind and then just see what unfolds. That sounds like you had a great ride.

  9. Barb says:

Wordle – for some reason I couldn’t think of using hte same letter twice- FAIL!
Mini – not working for me either – over 2 minutes
Not my day for games – fails on most of the heardles too

  10. I wish that I had a cut of the money that political action campaigns spend for tv advertising. I can’t watch a single thing without being bombarded by political ads.

    • Steve says:

On Labor Day, I got emails from Senator Warnock EVERY 2 hours! I sent him an unsubscribe message Tuesday. At least none of the other candidates I’m supporting are quite that annoying. Recording shows on the DVR helps a lot. Speed watching.

  11. Steve says:

Oh dear, the Queen has died.

Long live the King! (But Charles is such a stiff…)
