I am going to try to make waffles for breakfast. Crazy, right?

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was SCENT

  1. NYT Mini Crossword in 0:50

    Waffles made and consumed. Success!

  2. David says:

Wordle in 5, Mini in 30. I’m officially over Heardle.

  3. Steve says:

Wordle in 4 and a first- a complete anagram of the answer in 3 and none of the letters in the right place! Cracked me up.

    Dentist visit, check.
Pick up some signs for updating at the trailers at SMP, check.
Meet with my co-chair and the Park rep at our host hotel, check.
Make a cursory stop at the meeting to drop signs, then bail, check.

I let the dogs out about 2 and when I got up this morning, let George in (he’s generally happy to sleep on the porch, since he’s not smart enough to open the door like ALL THE OTHER DOGS) but no sign of Ollie. Yell one more time, no sign. Thinking the worst and of the trouble I’ll be in with Debbie if something has happened to HER dog on my watch, get dressed, grab a flashlight and start out the door when in he pops. MF! He’s now officially on my list.

    • And people can’t understand why I don’t have pets… hahaha

      • Steve says:

He has discovered a neighbors trash can- I caught him red handed the other day as he happily came home carrying a half eaten can of corned been hash. I also noticed cat food cans spread across the driveway as I left- he and George go into the man cave and raid the trash there as well.

You would not be in a location to just let your dog run wild. There is much to be said for the power of an animal in starting a conversation with a woman… just saying.

        • If I need a dog to start conversations then I don’t deserve the conversation l besides, I have known enough pet owners to know that they are expensive wingmen.

        • Jenka says:

Plus all the love and companionship you get from pets. It melts my heart when my dog looks at me with his cute face and wags his happy tail. Right after he eats the cat poop out of the litter box. Little fucker! I love him so.

  4. Barb says:

I have never invested in a waffle maker – but I do like waffles. Another kitchen gadget I could own, but don’t. I may have some frozen waffles in the freezer – that could be breakfast today.
Allan is working OT to go to a meeting about a Pride parade or something Columbus Day weekend. He will not be there, as we will be in Iowa. All the people that need to be at this meeting are out of town or busy. I’m sure he will enjoy this – as he just needs to take notes & tell everyone else what “they” need to do.

    • For years I resisted buying one. People had offered to lend me theirs, but I resisted that too. After having “chicken” and waffles for dinner in Raleigh back in June the idea sounded more plausible, so I sprung for one on Amazon and tried it today for the first time.

  5. Barb says:

Paulie – Survivor (& Amazing Race) both start tonight – I don’t know when Sal & I will watch it, but you are welcome to join us when we do.

  6. Off to chore outside for awhile. No fun hiking or cycling excursions for me today…

  7. Barb says:

Since we got another mug from the Wheelhopper 30th, I decided to go thru a huge bin of mugs. Damn we have too many plastic cups. Do I just throw them out? Donate? But – who would want these?

    • If they are in good shape if either donate them to Goodwill (or similar), or find one of those free food refrigerators and put some there. People who are eating free food may also like to have a new mug or two.

      • Barb says:

of course they are in good shape, most have been used for maybe that event, then thrown into this bin. So many mugs.

  8. Jenka says:

We went to A Mano for dinner last night which was amazingly excellent as usual. We got the succotash as a side to share and, while I wouldn’t usually mention succotash as anything special, it was awesome. We are re-watching Band of Brothers when we don’t have a kid around and there are parts of it that just don’t hold up over time. Also, it’s so. much. fighting.

I did not do Wordle yesterday. Steve, your anagram sounds like a one in a million! That’s never happened to me!

  9. Making lunch after doing some WLF choring and mowing the front lawn (hopefully for the final tie this year).

Ooh, forgot how hot the jalapeños from WLF are this year.

    • Boy howdy that was tasty! I cooked a box of Zataran’s Dirty Rice and added that to a stir fry of a handful of green beans, okra, chili peppers, onion, and some fake beef crumbles.

      • Barb says:

much more exciting than my lunch, I’m back to my childhood & I’m eating a peanut butter & lettuce sandwich.

        • It’s the type of meal you make when you realize that you have an abundance of vegetables that need to be eaten. I have to pick all of the peppers out in WLF sometime soon.

In the coming weeks/months I am going to have to figure out how to use the squash that I am harvesting this year.

        • Steve says:

Say what? That’s a new one on me…

      • Jenka says:

That sounds super tasty. I would totally eat that for lunch (minus the okay).

My favorite thing to do with squash is make soup!

        • Given the vast number of ingredients you may not notice the okra since the varieties I am growing are not slimy.

At least one squash will be turned into soup. I currently have five, each larger than an American football, curing in the basement. There are at least two more on the vines outside.
