I have encountered two more newly-installed four-way stops this week. There has to be a better way to deal with Atlanta’s shitty traffic than shoving stop signs into the ground and bringing to a halt.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was COUGH

  2. Steve says:

Hahahahahaha… Wordle in 1! One of my normal starting words!! And no clue from Stick.

I was literally falling asleep as I drove home yesterday. Not great in Atlanta traffic, but I was well past most of the traffic.

So much for thinning the herd. Well at least for the moment. A new girl arrives next week, co-owned (or at least bankrolled) by Saddle Sores. Once Ceili is sold, Mickey is apparently going the same direction, so we’ll still have Phinney and the new girl. Name as yet to be determined, currently named something unworkable.

    • You are now the second person I know to hit an answer in one. (Betsy did it once as well). I assume many will get it quickly today, knowing to starter words used here. I could have had it in three, but transposed some letters.

Steve, did you see the bizarre wreck in the women’s TTT at worlds yesterday?

      • Steve says:

I know someone dropped a chain and crashed. I haven’t found any video sources to watch, as GCN can’t carry it. Since it’s a “local” race for him, one of my old instructors is working it.

And I just saw where they awarded “Super Worlds” to France in ’27. My first thought was don’t you want to see how it works out in Scotland next year? For those that don’t know, Worlds next year will be around Glasgow… every event except CX, I think. BMX, MTB, Road Track, Artistic, Cycle Ball… Once upon a time, road and track were at the same location (1986, Colorado Springs) but then they split them up…

    • Barb says:

I love Debbie got Katherine to bankroll a horse.

  3. Barb says:

No more stop signs! Put in roundabouts!!!!!
But those take up more land, so I know its more complicated.

Went to a friend’s kid’s wedding reception at a BBQ restaurant in Kennesaw last night, the kids (mid 20s) decided to get married for insurance purposes at the Justice of the Peace. The real wedding/reception will be next year when they save up some money for it. One of the parents bought a bunch of apps – they had spicy pork rinds – not a huge fan. We did split a brisket sandwich – it was pretty good.

    • Here! Here!

Seriously, in the past six months I have encountered at least ten new-installed four-way stops. Some are warranted due to the intersection being dangerous, but most are just traffic slowing annoyances.

And this considering that I am not driving a lot of places these days!

  4. Jenka says:

It is utter bullshit that they put in 10,000 new units along the SE Beltline and the Memorial corridor and did not address infrastructure. The traffic profoundly affects the quality of life there now. I miss my friends in EAV and Grant Park, but I am glad I don’t live down there anymore. Give me sleepy Candler Park any day.

Life and work got in the way of cooking last night so we went to Surin for dinner. I did not do Wordle yesterday.

    • Barb says:

That’s the way, isn’t it? They don’t even think about all the issues it will cause, until after the fact.
So many times when we are in town, Allan comments how if there’s a fire, houses will burn because of the narrow streets & people parking on both sides. How the hell is a big fire truck supposed to get down some of these streets?

Surin – in VA Highlands? its been forever since I’ve been there.

      • Jenka says:

Yep, that’s the one! Where we are located on the south side of Freedom Park makes Va-Hi a convenient destination for restaurants. Finn loves the satay and I love the garlic stir fry.

  5. Debbie says:

Wordle in 2 and Mini in :31

Looks like the new horse will be arriving Monday on my birthday!! Woohoo! 56 and still crazy excited about ponies.

Her racing name is Gauzy, and I may keep it. I just know I’ll be constantly repeating myself when people ask me her name.

I had an overnight in Buford for a work event on Tuesday. We went to Top Golf which was fun. I sucked. Driving home yesterday morning reminds me why I shouldn’t bitch about driving 20 minutes to a grocery store. I love our no traffic world.

    • Barb says:

Traffic is crazy, isn’t it? When I went down to O4W last weekend, I remembered why I rarely leave Marietta. Last night we went up to Kennesaw & that was only 30 minutes, but it annoyed both of us plenty.

I need to take Allan to Top Golf one of these days – just so he can see that golf is an extremely aggravating sport.

  6. Barb says:

Allan is at Atl Cycling to build bikes, but he’s told them he won’t build the more complicated ones without more money per bike – they don’t pay enough. He may be home soon, as all they have is E-Bikes & Road bikes. I told him to just leave, then maybe they will cave.

    • David says:

I second that decision. No need to work for less than one’s worth.

      • Barb says:

and he did leave. The owner just happened to come in, and said he would discuss it with someone else. Seems pretty dumb they are putting this much thought into what amounts to not much money at all really. They don’t have enough mechanics to do the repairs, so they “need” him to come in & do these builds.

        • David says:

Good for Allan. It’s telling that they’re having to think so hard about it. Money can be an excellent filter with regard to choosing how to spend our time. If someone doesn’t want to pay you what you’re worth, it generally isn’t going to go well for other reasons as well.

  7. David says:

Wordle in 5 today, Mini in 27. Kudos, Steve! I have yet to hit Wordle in 1. I’ve gotten it in 2 nine times now, so there is that. Overwhelmingly I get 4 out of 5 letters in the right place in 3 attempts, and then like a balky old car keep turning the crank until the engine catches. This is exactly why I do not play the lottery or gamble.

  8. Barb says:

Paulie – did you get the bug spray email? I thin k its funny, I don’t thing all of that was spelled out originally – but oh well, some day we will get our pay.

  9. David says:

So today I learned that you can pay a dude to come clean your Herbie Curbie (unless you live out where Steve is). That’s something that never would have occurred to me. https://atlfreshcans.com/prices/ But apparently people have it done once a month. I can only remember needing to do that maybe once or twice in decades.

    • Barb says:

people will pay for anything anymore.
How tough is it to use a hose & rise it out if you need to?

Our friend Davey has started to Door Dash to keep busy -the stories he tells me about what people have delivered keeps amazing me. No wonder everyone is so far in CC debt, with the delivery cost plus the tip, its crazy. I guess I was raised to be frugal, so I just can’t do it.

    • Seriously? How hard is it to clean these? My trash can is almost always clean regardless because I put all my trash into bags.

      Davey must be really bored.

      • Barb says:

we have to put our trash into bags – so I don’t get it either.

not sure why Davey is doing it – he said the market is sucking – but I think its more for play money.
