Spent a lot of money, by my standards, for dinner last night at a restaurant called Nowack’s in Morningside. It was a birthday celebration for one of my drinking buddies, so I had no choice in the restaurant selection. I suppose I could have balked at going when I saw the prices and pretentiousness (no split checks, parties of five or more are automatically charged a 23% tip), but I didn’t want to be a party pooper. And to make matters worse the sides of French fries and Brussels sprouts we ordered were so salty that they were nearly inedible.

I solved today’s Wordle in five attempts; my starter today was SPELT

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 197.0 pounds. Dangen. And I am trying to return to a career which is notoriously sedentary? Time to start reducing the calorie intake again.

Wordle in 5 as well starting with SAINT.

Restaurants like that don’t get my return business.

A pretty quiet day yesterday and was able to watch World Cup with little interruption. Brazil is a machine and had the match in hand in 18 minutes.

I think I managed 20 minutes on the trainer- wasn’t really into it.

Rain was on and off all the way in, but fortunately the idiots were behaving themselves.

    • I certainly shan’t return to that restaurant. Upscale pricing should come with upscale service and food. My chicken paillard, which was quite good I should admit, cost $28; the others ordered steaks costing around $60. The inedible sides were $13 each. I abstained from alcohol to keep my cost down, and because I’d had a few beers before going to dinner.

I did an hour on the trainer yesterday, and once the HVAC technician leaves after a routine checkup call. I am disappointed, yet motivated by today’s scale reading.

I am ready for this rain to move out.

In the 90s I lived just down University with Brent (aka Back Seat Box), there was a Mexican restaurant in that building that was excellent. I haven’t thought about that building in forever. Back in the days of running on Wednesday nights, back when I could run.

I made some green chili pork enchiladas with some of the left over pork butt for lunch yesterday – we have way too much pork left over. I need to get out the vacuum sealer & freeze some of it today.

By strange coincidence- we are going to the same pizza place tonight as we did last night. Pizzeria Lucca in Roswell, they let you BYOB on Monday & Tuesday nights. Last night was with some Chattahooligans, tonight with some Parrotheads.

    • I vaguely remember a Mexican restaurant there and may have eaten at it once? There have been so many restaurants in that building that I could never list them all.

I often wonder the Atlanta life I would have led had I been able to buy the townhouse in Morningside in 1999. I had the first offer on it, at the asking price, but they owners were away for the weekend and selected another offer when they returned. Of course I could have tried to outbid the other buyers but told my realtor that I was not interested in a bidding war.

Pizza! Pizza! Oh man how I’d love to eat a ton of pizza today, but the scale tells me that I shouldn’t.

That location is cursed anyway, so Nowak’s will be closed by the time you would ever circle back to it. Kevin hated the last restaurant there so it fell off our radar.

Starting to pack and prep for our trip to Belize next week. Looks like it’ll be mid-80s every day!

Wordle in 4 starting with SLATE. Wordle fail yesterday, that word was too damn woke for me to grasp.

Barely slept a wink last night. I’m looking forward to my nights being my own starting the Saturday after next.

Thanks for the encouragement yesterday, Steve. I am at my best under pressure, I’m just over always boxing myself in that way.

I’m thinking about trying to find a personal trainer, in case anyone has any recommendations. I’m going to get a walking regimen started up as well. I’ve fallen off of the exercise wagon. I might be getting a free trainer from a friend once he gets back from a month in the Keys.

    • Free trainer as in personal or cycling? I never thought that I could never enjoy riding mine, but the projector tv helps a ton.

      • David says:

Free cycling trainer. I’ve never used an indoor trainer, but the price is right, and I do have two bikes, so I’ll give it a shot. I’ll have space in my bedroom once my wife moves out. There’s a TV in there that needs to be updated, but I think I’d rather just listen to podcasts or audiobooks. I really can only abide so much TV.

lucky guess on Wordle – got it in 3.

  6. David says:

Easy, breezy voting today, in and out in a couple minutes.
