I received a letter in the mail which had my surname misspelled. While this is far from an uncommon occurrence for my Germanic last name, this letter was from one of the few places I expect to know how to spell it properly — Goethe Zentrum Atlanta.

Were I still eating meat often I’d be more bummed about hearing that Delia’s Chicken Sausage Stand closed its original location on Moreland Avenue. Delia’s stood next to the Batteries Plus shop that also closed not long ago, and my speculation that the land on that corner had been sold was correct. What will be built there? More overpriced housing? One can only hope…

My blueberry waffle experiment may have been a bust, but the butternut squash waffles I made yesterday were somewhat incredible.

Isn’t it great that you don’t even have to win your conference in order to have a chance to win the National Championship? #snark Count me out.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was VAULT

Wordle in 5. Good guesses on 3 and 4 as well.

Birmingham was tough. 2 switches Friday evening, one wouldn’t boot up. We left it to do the other one and came back to it. The fan card was making a racked and I reseated it- suddenly the switch completed its boot! Miracle worker. Saturday had the biggest switch. Went well and were reconnecting cables when I hear the engineer say we’ve lost one of the fiber connections. That took an hour of troubleshooting to fix. Finally home by 1830. And for some reason, I thought the SEC games was in the evening, so instead of listening to it, I caught up on my podcasts.

Sunday was nice enough to get out and ride the CX bike. And of course I have a flat AFTER a very muddy section of road. I managed to get enough air in it to ride home, but not enough to finish the planned ride. Still 16 miles.

    • Interesting weekend!

On Saturday I watched the USA lose, did some day drinking, then napped.

Yesterday I did some WLF work after getting cuttings from two nearby fig trees. Here’s to hoping that more than one cutting takes root this year. I repotted the one successful cutting from last year into a larger pot, so I hope that one continues to thrive as well.

  2. Very busy day today, going heads down for awhile.

Our Saturday night party went off without any drama or accidents- so a successful party.
I’ve got a cold or something, I’m just feeling tired. I decided to skip the Christmas concert out in Stone Mtn last night with a bunch of friends -I spent the day napping (& I don’t nap) & not really watching football.

We have so much food/leftovers in the fridge, and I think someone leaned against the electronics on the front, or something was blocking a fan, or it was left cracked open Saturday night – some frozen stuff wasn’t as frozen as it should be Sunday morning. After a little googling we managed get it reset. It seems to be fine now. That was a scare we didn’t need Sunday morning.

My head feels like a shaken snow globe, so I’m going to be working to get some sanity back into my life again. My wife moves out next weekend, which will help. We came to some agreements over the weekend in a much faster fashion than I expected. We’re meeting with a mediator on Friday to start formalizing said agreements with an understanding of being separated for some period of time. Neither of us are racing for the courthouse. Not that I will, but I can start dating.

No Wordle yet today, I have have a piece of writing that should have been done last week but my goddamn ADHD brain won’t engage until something is literally on fire. Fortunately then it’s like “Oh, here you go…”

Wordle in 4 starting with BROKE.

Nice enough weekend. Going gluten-free is keeping me pain-free, but I’m still having stomach issues. This is tiresome. The earliest I could get in to see a gastroenterologist is January.

We watched a program last night without fast-forwarding through the commercials. That’s the first time we’ve been hit by all the political ads, and boy howdy is Herschel an idot. What a farce. Hopefully, tomorrow brings this madness to an end, but most of my neighbors are voting for his sorry ass so my faith in humanity will remain shaken. Thank God I no longer have anything to do with politics professionally. My old employer supported Republicans all the way, and there is no way I could have kept my views under wraps once Trump won.

Speaking of farces, we’re having our company Christmas party/EOY staff meeting starting this afternoon. It will be tense.

    wordle in 4.
mini in less than 2 minutes.
I’m not in the working mood today.

  7. Hour on the trainer done. Just ruined a bit of that hard work by eating bread and cheese with lunch. But damn it was tasty!

  8. One of the unforeseen benefits of WLF and being at home a lot is learning about wildlife. The neighborhood now has hawks, and as recently as yesterday one swooped into WLF and took perch on a branch for awhile.

I had a great weekend at the cabin, it was sooooo restful. Saturday I did basically nothing but eat and sleep.

Big meeting this morning, there were some hitches but we got through them. One more big meeting on the 19th and then it’s smooth sailing until January.
