If you’ve dealt with aging parents you understand the situation I am in. It’s not fun.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was THING

All the more reason to take Freddy Mercury’s advice to get on your bike and ride.

Wordle in 5, Mini in 1:02. I did complete yesterday’s Mini in 0:26.

    • Agreed. I have beaten the sun this morning and gone out for a three mile walk.

      0:26? Yowza!

    • Barb says:

I got the Mini n less than a minute yesterday too -either 48 or 52 seconds. (my brain is going already).
I’ll get to Wordle & the Mini a little later this morning – damn work getting in my way.

Back to the winning ways- 4 out of 5 letters in the right place in 3, but I’ll settle for a 4.

I do not envy your work with your mom. We were fortunate to have my sister as primary contact with them and dad was still pretty together to the end. Just remember, what may be clear to you may not be to your mom and will require extra patience to explain.

I’ve been watching the Netflix documentary series on golf, “Full Swing”. Like all the documentaries I’ve seen on Netflix, it’s really well done. As much about the personalities as the play, but lots of “exciting golf” (not an oxymoron).

Been through it with Kevin’s parents, it is indeed not fun. Sending support! Also, what David said: getting out for some exercise will help clear your head. How hot is it down there?

Good luck with everything in FL – I know (you know I know) its a battle, but you can do it!!!!
Call me if you need to talk.
I just booked a flight to Iowa for over a week for the end of March. My brother really needs a break, and it’s his birthday week. I’m going to drag my work stuff up there (we will see if the Wi-Fi is good enough). I’m going to piss everyone off & buy a new bed for the guest room. (it’s an OLD crappy full size, it needs to be a queen. Allan said I have to do that before he comes up there this summer). Since I have a week, I figure I’ll be able to make that happen. We have figured out my parents are going to live forever, so we might as well buy a new bed.

  5. Barb says:

and lots of snow in Flagstaff – we may have to change some of our Vacation the 1st week of March to Tucson if this keeps up. 😉
I think it will be fun, Annette isn’t so sure.

  6. Might actually lose weight today if I try, it’s 9am and we’ve not even left the house for breakfast yet.

    • Barb says:

my parents re NEVER out of bed before -0900, Mom maybe by 9:30, but Dad, who knows 10:30 or after. One time it was 11:30 & he still wasn’t up, I actually went to check to see if he was still breathing.
Their food schedule is so off from mine, I just eat earlier & eat lunch when they are having breakfast. 😉

I also started watching a Hulu show “Under the Banner of Heaven”.
The Mormon religion just intrigues me (& baffles me). I know I grew up Catholic, but I never was very religious. I’m on episode 4 of 7.

I’m meeting Davey at Heirloom Market BBQ for lunch in a little while, its been way too long since I’ve eaten there.
Its not here raining yet…….. I wonder if it actually will rain.

Just coming up for air after a morning of meetings and more paperwork!

Mom forgot her CC so her unemployed son could buy breakfast? Thanks, mom!

Wordle in 5 starting with SPATE.

I know how hard it is to deal with aging parents. Fortunately, I had two siblings nearby to share the load. My thoughts are with you. Do take every chance to soak up good interactions with your mom. My mom and I had a complicated relationship in her later years, but as time has passed the good memories far outweigh the bad. This is only my experience and I had 40+ great years of closeness with both of my parents, so I was very, very blessed.

I went to bed last night with GD sore throat and woke up congested again. I was just starting to feel good. AARGH! Off to see the doc.

  11. Top Tip: avoid taking an old person to Publix…

    • Barb says:

My mom is fun – everything we look at – “oh, we never have ______, we should get it”. So, we buy things we totally don’t need, and I know she will never cook/eat.

      • Mine is to the point where she can’t really walk the entire store, and bought a bunch of shit (sweets) she shouldn’t be eating, and I am trying not to eat.

        • Debbie says:

The last two years mine lived independently her diet was primarily jelly donuts. 🙂

I gave up arguing because it wasn’t doing any good. And I have to say when I’m elderly if all I want to eat is damn donuts well pass the donuts.

Steve’s sisters were concerned about the sodium in their dad’s daily chicken pot pies. He was 96!

Not to say you shouldn’t fight the good fight, but don’t wind yourself up too much if you lose.
