Wordle in 4. I had the last 3 and thought, “Really?”

Debbie appears to be feeling a little better. I still slept in the guest room so I could get some sleep. I made spaghetti with hot Italian sausage last night and it was really good, if I do say so.

Planning for Redlands has begun. Because I’m needed Tuesday before racing starts, I have to fly Monday and because we don’t wrap up Sunday until 6PM, I can’t leave until the following Monday. And tickets to the left coast ain’t cheap! Fronting the money to a bike race has never been high on my list, but this one has been going on for a while.

45 steady minutes on the trainer last night.

    • Good on ya! I was in the same scenario and played a provisional word for my fourth guess to ensure success in five.

    • Barb says:

There’s always the red eye Steve…….. (yuck, but some people can sleep on planes, but not me). There are no real deals for flights anymore.

I ship stuff to Redlands all the time – so I know where you are going. There must be a good warehouse area there.

      • steve says:

Trust me, that was the original plan, but they insist you fly in/out of ONT or Palm Springs and there isn’t a red eye. Delta wanted almost $800, but I managed to get something on Southwest for $650. Maybe I’ll get there in time.

        • Barb says:

it’s always more than $400 to fly to Iowa now (1.5 hrs in the air), the flight I just booked was $458. I decided to use miles this time – Delta is doing a 15% discount on mileage tickets. (so it was 31,000 miles) Our tickets to Phoenix were at least $600, I used my companion pass so it was like we got them for half price.

          • steve says:

LAX was a “decent” fare, but the race can’t support picking you up from there as easily as ONT. Much less competition into ONT and Iowa!

For our last kid-free night we went to the Imperial. They were doing trivia so we played along for the first round, then went home. It was our first time there and we’ll definitely be back!

I think we’re going to Chicago in May. Tina Fey and Amy Peohler are doing a 4 city tour, and they are doing Chicago the same weekend that the Braves play the White Sox. So we’ll get to see the show and also knock another stadium off our goal of visiting all of them.

    • Barb says:

some hashers used to play trivia at the Imperial every Tuesday.

    • Wow, that sounds like a fun trip.

I keep trying to return to The Imperial but haven’t done so in awhile.

    • Jenka says:

Stacy has posted from the Imperial a few times, so it’s been on my list.

    • David says:

Pro tip regarding the Imperial: don’t drive behind the dumpster, especially in the dark if it’s been raining recently. That’s where the woman got her car stuck that my friend Jamie and I helped dislodge.

I love Chicago, and I may be making a trip there in July. I’m tentatively scheduled to speak at a conference in Indiana again, so I’ll do what I did before which was to fly in to Indianapolis for the conference, and then have my brother pick me up and go to Chicago with him, and then fly back from there.

  3. Forgot to mention that I listened to an audiobook on my drive home from Florida. It was the autobiography of a British comedian Bob called “And Away…”. What was weird was that there was one word censored with a loud beep after the first letter, “cunt”. While I do understand the harshness of that word, all other curse words were not censored, so this really bothered me.

  4. Barb says:

Wordle in 5 – that was an annoying 5 tries, as my 2nd guess I had the last 3 correct.

today I need to find things to do & see around Tucson. We are still going to do the hot air balloon in Sedona on Tuesday morning – let’s hope it isn’t way too cold up in the sky.

  5. David says:

Wordle fail today. Perhaps related to being up since 4:45 AM this morning so that I could drive my friend Scott to the hospital for back surgery. I just got the call from the surgeon, everything went well. They’re keeping him for a night or two. When I was in the parking lot I got a call from my dentist asking if I could make a 7:50 AM cleaning appointment to make up for spacing out on my 3:50 PM appointment yesterday. I made it to the cleaning, and now I’m back at the salt mine.

I did buy tickets for Belize last night for the first week of July. My wife wanted a refundable ticket, which I purchased. She’s on the fence about going. The kids and I are non-refundable, we’re going no matter what. I very much wanted to try to work the Atlantic side of Costa Rica in last year but couldn’t find a way for it to make sense, so Belize will more than make up for that.

    • Barb says:

Should be toasty warm in July in Belize, won’t it?

Allan work up around 5am this morning – he usually gets up around 5:30, and I never really got back to sleep. So, I’m yawning a whole lot right now. Today I wish I drank coffee. I could go get a coke or something I guess.

      • David says:

All the more reason to stay in the water! We’ll be staying with friends in a beachfront villa that they’re letting us join in on for free, we just have to cover our airfare and incidentals. So, it’s an offer I couldn’t refuse.

Heat doesn’t faze me. At one point in the Navy we did two weeks of damage control training in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. This meant running around the ship suited up in firefighting gear and dragging equipment around with all ventilation cut off. Now THAT was toasty.

      • Jenka says:

Gawd yes. I was just in Belize in DECEMBER and it was hot as balls. No thank you.

  6. Debbie says:

Wordle in 4 starting with AISLE. Had the last three in three and took a lucky guess.

Finally wrapped up my forklift training course! We shot the original footage 3 years ago last month so it’s been a loooonnnngggg time in the making. I’ve got two more easy videos to complete – I’m waiting on slides from the presenter – and I’ll be done with this contract work. I’m going to take a break before I look for more.

We’ve got to find a better solution for internet if I’m going to continue doing videos. These files where not huge and it still took 4 hours plus for them to upload each time.

  7. Well, the squirrels (I presume) have maintained their reputation of being the greediest assholes in the garden. I uncovered a bed of small radicchio plants so that they could get more sun, or rain, whatever we got today, and when I went to cover them again they were all gone. Also, there was a big divot where one of my tiny onion plants was, probably killing it too. Assholes!
