One year ago today I was delivered news which at the time I didn’t fully process, was going to ruin my year, and eventually convince me to quit hashing. Of course Life enjoys fucking with me, so within the past 365 days in addition to not having any significant changes to my social life, my body has developed physical abnormalities that at best make me look worse than I ever have, and at worst will need significant medical attention. In the coming weeks I will decide the doctor that I will visit in order to address the issue.

“Other than that, how did you enjoy the play Mrs. Lincoln?”

I spent the majority of the weekend in WLF, the weather was too nice not to do so. Yesterday I had the rare opportunity to eat a salad with lettuce, radish (Barb, from the seeds you gifted me), and carrot, all grown in WLF. Dinner of Americanized fried rice was bolstered by bok choy, Pak Choi, Swiss chard, and spinach harvested from WLF.

I’ve started rewatching the ten-episode mini-series called Horace and Pete released by Louis C.K. in 2016. I bought and downloaded the episodes back then, but now it’s available for streaming on Hulu. It’s very dark, which seems apropos, and has a theatrical atmosphere much like my favorite movie Glengarry Glen Ross.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was WARTS. Today’s starter is an homage to my latest concern, but it’s not a declaration through what I am going.

  1. Rats, I hoped the newest release of WordPress fixed Apple emoji, obviously it has not.

You’re right about one thing….the weather was awesome this week-end. I had to work on Saturday but ventured up to Vogel State park for a GUTS outing. Ran the Coosa Back Country Loop and took a detour to run up to the top of Blood Mountain. You could actually see Atlanta. You have Spring Tune Up to look forward to….less than two weeks! :). Looks like Bob had a fun week-end….how does one get invited to those??? And welcome back Barb. Looks like our Easter ride might get rained out but hoping the weather changes. Oh yeah…wordl in 3 starting with words.

ChattaPhoolathon, all are welcome on the Phools Errand. You pick a card and ride to the destination. This is an annual April 1st tradition. I think they rambled for over 10 hours with many beer stops. I had limited time so rode the motorcycle down and met them at a couple stops. One right in Paulies hood as we went to Red’s beer garden. Bumped in to a handful of hashers there too. Good times.

Super long weekend, met with the hooligans for a bit on Saturday before going to the Atlanta United game. Got up early Sunday to catch a train to a plane then back to a train and finally ended up in DC. Travel day was really uneventful which is nice, all our planning paid off. Took the Metro and walked around Chinatown and had dinner down there last night. I have to work today and tomorrow so holed up in the hotel while Laura and Travis head to George Washington’s Mount Vernon.

  4. Thankfully corrected my error in the post before it was pointed out to me. 🙂

Long weekend for me – 1/2 in Iowa, the other 1/2 here.
Saturday went to brunch (which really was lunch) with a high school friend.
Then getting everything done & cleaned up at the parents before flying out WAY TOO EARLY on Sunday morning. 04:15am alarm- flight was at 5:40am. First class seat that early means nothing.
I was a zombie most of the day, did go to SOB, Davey laid a nice trail around Sandy Springs, starting & ending at Mutation. It was Allan’s birthday, but we just ate dinner at home since I was only half awake. Anniversary is Thursday – we will go out somewhere in the city limits since he’s working. We don’t make these occasions a big deal – its just another day.

Wordle in 3 starting with LANES.

This next part is going to fall on deaf ears but I care so I’ll say it anyway. Dude, as someone fairly newly recovered from obsessing about his past, as they say there’s no there there. Stay in the present. What happened, happened and dwelling on it and isolating yourself just perpetuates the beat down. Is it easy to shake off? Hell no. It’s the hardest work I’ve ever done. Is living in the present better than the past? Absofuckinglutely. You cannot change your past but you can change your present. Acceptance, both with what happened and what is happening, is the way forward. And regarding your appearance, NO ONE WILL EVER JUDGE YOU AS REMOTELY AS HARSHLY AS YOU JUDGE YOURSELF. Cut yourself some damn slack.

I’m progressing with swimming. I went to the pool two days in a row for the first time and I’ve started swimming laps on my back to build up my strength and continue to improve on my comfort level in the water. I swam 3 laps on Saturday and 7 yesterday. I can no longer say that I can’t swim, which I’m still wrapping my brain around.

I had dinner at Havana Sandwich Shop on Buford Highway Saturday night. It was so damn good. They’re back in the original building again. I haven’t been there in a decade or more but it’s back in the rotation. Yesterday was chicken fingers at Roasters. So good, I haven’t been there in forever either. I am reclaiming all of the restaurants that were deemed “too far away” by my formerly significant other.

    • There is no sound, so of course it fall on deaf ears. All we know is the past, the future is unknown. I’m actually more concerned with what has happened since this date last year as it possibly has the ability to shape my future greatly. Time, and doctors, will tell.

I used to work around the corner from Havana and ate there a good bit. I do enjoy a Cuban sandwich.

    • Barb says:

Roasters – that place is still around? I had no idea.

Wordle in 4 – just could not come up with it in 3.

      • David says:

Yes, it’s still around. I needed to go to REI on Saturday so I let my daughter drive. We ended up at the Sandy Springs location because I wanted to let her drive on 285 for the first time. It was great!

      • It’s in the same shopping center at Trader Joe’s and Penzey Spices if I remember correctly.

        • David says:

Yes, exactly, and we frequented of those places too on Saturday. And popped in to see a friend after that. It was a great day.

        • Barb says:

now I need to go check out Roasters – I”M not sure if I’ve ever been there, but if I have, its bee 20+ years ago

  7. David says:

I watched and liked that Louis CK show (back before his fall from grace). I’ll watch Steve Buscemi in pretty much anything.

My kids and I have completed our viewing of the first two seasons of Ted Lasso, so we’ll embark on the new season when we pick it up again, probably tomorrow night.

  8. steve says:

    Today sucks.

    That is alll.

  9. steve says:

So yesterdays work appeared to be successful- that is, until Cash came in to process and couldn’t see all their cameras. We now have a work around in place, but they aren’t completely whole.

Saturday was a late breakfast and errands, then some basketball.

Sunday was a scooter ride into the office for the work, then chores around the house.

    Wordle in 5.

  10. steve says:

6:30 reservation for 8 at TC- PCM!

  11. Debbie says:

    Wordle in 4.

Steve ran out of the house with his hair on fire, and the dogs were wound up for a bit. Low key day otherwise. Productive weekend. I got my access trail cleaned up. The briars were horrendous. I left quite a bit of DNA out there and have the marks too show for it.

I took Phinney out for a celebratory ride only to find one of creek crossings that I regularly use was blocked after the flooding. If it’s not one thing…
