After a good weekend away and a delicious dinner while watching Survivor with Barb and Sal, it’s time to get back to reality today. Once the sun rises and things start to warm up I want to clean up WLF today since it’s been five days since I’ve last worked it, and some marauding vandals (hashing friends) stopped by and left me some love notes in chalk. 😀 Seriously, I need to get out and evaluate some of the longer-standing plants to see if they need to be pulled, and to prepare the grounds for the next round.

I wish I were more optimistic about my future.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was SWING

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 197.8 pounds (+3.2 from last week’s weigh-in); thoroughly disappointing.

Wordle in 4 and 4 out of 5 correct in 3!

I worked on the cable run to the man cave yesterday and almost have it repaired. I’m annoyed at myself at not being completed, as I have no interest in crawling back under the house to finish the repair. I think that’s where the problem is, but have to test again to make sure.

Starting to plan my trip to the BMW rally a month from now. Because of work, the route there will be all slab (interstate) but planning a leisurly return via more scenic routes. This months club magazine (yes, old school paper) had a list of suggested roads in Virginia which I will make use of. The BRP also seems like a good choice.

wordle in 4 using DOERS. Had only one correct letter in the first two guesses. Got that one letter in the right place on the third. Not sure how I guessed the other 4 letters in the correct place on the 4th try. Fun Survivor night with delicious turkey soup. Looking forward to working on the two new puzzles Wee gave me. Off today. Planing on riding on the Comet this morning. GUTS run with beer and pizza tonight.

I had a good weekend. Friday night was my work end-of-year party which was fun; and, mercifully, over before 9:00. HEH. Saturday we got up early and took Finn to his Buddy Baseball game in Buckhead. We had packed the car so after the game we hit 75 and went to the cabin for a short trip. Sunday we slept late and drove home leisurely. Yesterday was a super busy day at work. This is the last super busy week for the summer, though!

I guess no one went to the Inman Park Festival? We have not gone for a couple years now, despite being able to walk to it. It’s just too big.

    • Barb says:

I went 1 time a few years ago – soooooo many people crammed into the area.
I’m just not a huge fan of those kinds of crowds.
I didn’t even look for people to go with, I think some folks we know might have done the gnome parade.

    • David says:

I swore the Inman Park Festival off years ago. People plowing through with their 3 across strollers did me in. Plus the Summer Shade Festival in Grant Park has ruined me on festivals, since it’s pretty much in my front yard, and in fact when they were building the deck, it literally went down my street. Being able to take my own beer, use my own bathroom, not deal with parking, and nip and and nip out as I choose means all other festivals are dead to me. 😉

Wordle in 5 starting with PEACE.

    • For me festivals are pair/group activities. I rarely find myself in those situations.

TV update -we’ve been watching Daisy Jones & the Six – its pretty entertaining.

on my own I’m watching Firefly Lane – its a good chick flicky TV series on Netflix.
It reminds me a lot of This Is Us, going back & forth to different times in the 2 main characters life. But I’m enjoying it a lot.

  5. I’ve discovered the identity of the large weeds I have been finding in WLF raised beds, they are tiny pecan trees! This was made evident when I pulled the weed with a long tap root and it still have the pecan from which it emerged attached.

Trimmed a bunch of salad greens. What remains of the lettuce may be healthy enough for human consumption.

  6. Now I can admit my Wordle route today was a lucky one, given that it looks as if I were playing Tetris. SWING yielded one letter in the right place, which was all I had going into my fourth guess and scraped together a word with the remaining unused letters.

  7. I contemplated burying it elsewhere, but decided not to do so since I won’t be alive when it’s producing pecans.

    • David says:

Pecan trees start producing in six to ten years. Don’t sell yourself short there, fella. You’re not 80.

It’s also startling how fast trees can grow. I had a volunteer maple sprout after I bought my house, and I let it grow. It’s a really significant tree now.

  8. Received my annual annoyance from the State regarding something about Sharpened Stone, the LLC I dissolved many years ago. One day I need to go downtown and resolve this issue once and for all.
