Given that I have heard frogs (toads) in WLF recently I like to think that I have helped the reptile diversity in my yard. When I arrived home last night there was a frog (toad) sitting on the carport wall. I couldn’t have been more thrilled.

We had a very good ride last night, but then I went and did the two things I wanted to avoid — drink three beers (instead of two), and eat peanuts. Why am I fatter than I want to be? It’s pretty self explanatory.

I solved today’s Wordle in six attempts; my starter today was SCUBA. While I have seemed to temporarily lose my Wordle acumen I’m sensing that there will be a lot of “Wordle in 2” reported today. Also, shame on the NYT for cramming a “Subscribe to Games” button into the game’s UI; it makes the header look like shit.

Wordle in 5 starting with RELAY. I agree lots of people that use a certain start word are likely to nail it in 2.

Last night was clothes shopping for my kids and driving practice for my daughter. A $55 dollar pair of Nikes rang up as $34.87 at Nordstrom Rack, so that was a win. I also used up some Old Navy gift cards from 2 years ago that I recently discovered.

The energy in the run-up to what would have been my 30th wedding anniversary on Sunday knocked me off of my decluttering game but now I’m ready to get back into it. I was also pleased with myself for leaving a $5 Target gift card that I scored on my last trip in my car, where I could see it, so that I could use it last night.

    • Well done.

My decluttering hasn’t been going well. I will begin again in earnest when I return from BRAG.

      • David says:

Thanks! I’m counting using up the gift cards as yesterday’s decluttering. I also emptied my paper shredder, because what’s the point of having a paper shredder you can’t use simply because the bin is full? It’s been that way for a year or more. I got some decluttering done just now. It’s good to be back.

Lots of people that use a certain starter word got Wordle in 2, INDEED!!! (insert smiling emoji)

As I crashed hard when returning home Monday night (technically Tuesday morning) I was AMAZED to see Debbie’s office SPOTLESSLY CLEAN when I arrived home yesterday! While I did ask her (only slightly in jest) if I was going to find Fibber McGee’s closet (Google it) somewhere in the house, she said it had all been put away properly. Go Honey!

And apparently, reports of a dead battery on the tractor were in error as the beast started right up once I disengaged the PTO. Easy fix and an error I have made as well.
    Driveway mowed.

We were both in bed by 9PM.

just reading driveway mowed……… since mine is asphalt -that just seems wrong.

      • David says:

Well, I have to “mow” my front sidewalk by the street. It’s brick and weeds grow in between. I knock the weeds down with a weedeater and then use my weed burner to set them back for a while.

And that’s fun about Debbie’s turn at being Marie Kondo, Steve!

      • steve says:

8 foot shoulders between the driveway and fence line.
        (so literal!)

I did mow the driveway at JEFDSDR.

is it Groundhog day? (today title)

Good shopping surprise David! I love when things ring up less than expected.

Steve – clean office – I don’t think Allan will ever say my desk is spotlessly clean. EVER.

I didn’t get shit done for the most part yesterday – work was fairly busy (it always is after a 3 day holiday weekend).

Heard a hasher or 3 have covid – hadn’t heard about anyone testing positive in a while -glad I wasn’t around any of them to worry about it.

    • Keeping people on their toes, and not realizing that I had the wrong date. Thanks.

Ack. I was thinking about COVID yesterday, and how it would suck to contract it the week before BRAG.

    • David says:

Barb, it’s so rare that anything comes up with a LOWER price these days. It always seems to go the other way in my experience. I’ll take it. Basically the flip flops I bought my son were free since the price reduction on the Nikes covered them.

  4. Laundry done!

Going to spend the rest of today getting ready for BRAG.

  5. Jenka says:

I had a nice holiday weekend at the cabin with Kevin’s sister and her husband. Very relaxing and the weather was amazing. I had been fighting a head cold for days and Monday it got bad and yesterday I had to stay home from work. I’m still pretty congested today but I made it to the office. We have tickets to the United game tonight. I want to go but it might not happen. Good times.

  6. Barb says:

I went to my Orthopedic doc this morning – Xray shows my bad disc. He wants me to try an anti inflammatory med & some physical therapy before we do the MRI. (the game you have to pay with insurance). So – now to find a physical therapist over here near me that is in network for insurance.

Got my new transition glasses too – I think my right eye prescription is off, but I’ll give it a day – it may be just different from my old glasses.

    • Good luck with all of that, Barb.

    • David says:

That sounds like a lot to deal with. As Paulie said, good luck.

    • steve says:

Yeah, even a week with a new eye script isn’t too much.

I have one spot in my back that’s always sore. I’m afraid what the options might be.

      • Barb says:

My low back has bothered me for about 30 years, but not enough to do anything drastic, I quit running in the 90 (but I never liked running, so it was a good excuse to quit)
Well – it isn’t going to get any better, I can’t stand for long periods of time anymore. So, what the hell – starting the process.
The Xray shows the disc between L5-S1 is basically gone, but I don’t have any shooting pains, so that’s why I’ve just ignored it.

  7. steve says:

I’m not sure what the repair will be. Maybe I’ll research the options. I’m like you, I can’t stand around for long periods. Moving is OK, but not standing.

  8. steve says:

So I DDG’d “ruptured disk treatment and the second hit is ebay.

“We have rupture disk on Ebay! Free shipping!!

  9. steve says:

We already have ruptured disks! Don’t need any more, thanks very much.

  10. Packing for BRAG and wondering how I am going to get all of this shit inside my tent every night, especially if it rains.
