Not much to report today. I spent the majority of my day trying to motivate myself to pack for BRAG.

Last night Betsy provided a lovely Lidl frozen pizza with salad as we watched the finale of “Ted Lasso”. I couldn’t believe my eyes as I watched the AFC Richmond stadium collapse, killing everyone in it. How’s that for an unexpected finale! June Fools! (I know, that’s not a “thing”, but it was the best I had this morning.)

I solved today’s Wordle in six attempts; my starter today was PITCH. The struggle continues…

  1. I have a dream that some day WordPress will once again show Apple emoji correctly. Unfortunately it has already baked the associated ascii characters into every post, so this space will never look 100% correct.

Brutal Wordle day starting with CARVE. I had two correct letters on my second attempt and then no other matches until narrowly averting death on the 6th attempt.

Today I learned that Freddy Mercury originally considered naming a certain song Mongolian Rhapsody.

I am taking my “wife”’s car to the shop today for routine maintenance. I’ll get a six mile bike ride in as my way means home. My first ride on the Silver Comet for this year is slated for Saturday. It’ll also be my first half-century in a while.

    • Barb says:

just curious – why isn’t she taking her car for maintenance?
I know you are a nice guy, but……

  3. steve says:

Wordle in 6 as well, but I’ll take it.

I’ve dropped my car off for service several times and included a bike ride to do it. My ride is a bit more than yours.

We noticed while moving that something was amiss. Apparently, we lost one of the 3 blades and I went to replace them all last night. The bolt on the missing blade sheared off, leaving me nothing to work with. As I went to cut a slot in what remained so I could use a screwdriver to remove it, it vibrated loosely in the hole- finger tight! I can handle that. Contestant #2 came off with some effort and contestant #3 needed penetrating oil and will be reassessed later today.

    Still no exercise.

Today’s Wordle was rough. Got it in 6 starting with POISE. Not much to report on this front either. Trying to get motivated to pack for BRAG. I got a 5 star review from a customer yesterday. It’s the little things.

  5. Barb says:

Davey told me about a restaurant app (Seated) that you could get some decent money on the 1st use – we will see – went to an Italian place last night with a $50 bonus plus 24% back on our bill. It’s being processed………
The same place is on Upside & Dosh – but the hours we wrong on Upside (said it was closed) and Dosh only accepted a Visa – I used my AmEx. These apps are actually too much work I think.

  6. Jenka says:

I felt well enough to go to the United game yesterday, and it was great. They played New England so I was invested. NE scored a goal within the first 30 seconds but ATL came around to win in the end. We didn’t stay to the end because it was a school night, plus it a supreme clusterfuck traveling Marta when everyone leaves the stadium at once.

    • Wow, last time I checked the score it was 2-0 New England. I didn’t even consider turning the game on when I returned home.

Actually the game ended in a 3-3 draw. Still, good comeback for Atlanta.

    • Bob says:

Frustrating game, that goal in the first minute could have been disaster. Officiating was pretty terrible too. So exciting when they went up 3-2 only to have hopes dashed on that last NE score. Fun game overall and Marta wasn’t too bad, I actually had a seat all the way to North Springs.

      • Jenka says:

If I’d known you were there we could’ve had a beer beforehand!

Yeah, we left right after ATL got up 3-2, I missed the last NE goal. But Marta was super clear!

  7. Barb, you inspired me to eat lunch out. I’m at Tin Drum where there is a 27% Upside, and 5% Dosh rebate.

    • Barb says:

      nice rebate!!!! which Tin Drum?

      • I’m near Perimeter Mall. Running errands this morning and may pop into Apple Store.

Since the new cycling shorts I bought from Primal are too tight at my current weight I came up here contemplating buying one more pair for BRAG if I could find them cheap.

    • Oh, and I hope sometime soon to be able to go on a hike and invite you and Davey. I feel as if I have been a bad friend.

And did you see that Pine Log Wildlife Management Preserve possibly being closed to the public? Bummer.

  8. David says:

I can’t remember if I posted this article about a new mountain biking park in Rome. I searched the ITP archives and it appears not:

    https://www.atlantamagazine.com/travel/exploring-georgias-first-mountainside-bike-park-surprisingly-close-to-atlanta/

Unrelated, but probably of equal interest to some: Tasty China Marietta update https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cs8wP69g6Fi

Given my one-and-done attempt at mountain biking last year that shattered my arm, I won’t be going to Rome, but I’m game for Tasty China when it opens. It’ll be my first time going.

  9. Back at the ITP Estate. Round of errands yielded a haircut, four pack of beer, lunch with discounts, Target for some ibuprofen for BRAG, and to gas up the car with discount. Since Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference is next week (I’ll have to catch up after BRAG) I decided to hold off on any purchases until that is over.

Forgot that while I was in Perimeter Center I was going to go to GNC to look for salt tablets. Poop. Going to look to see if I still have some in the refrigerator.

  10. David says:

Apparently there’s an ITP upgrade. I posted a couple of links that caught me put in moderation jail, but at least I can see my post, along with a caption that says “Your comment is awaiting moderation.” This is a great improvement over things going poof and leaving us wondering if the blog ate it or if it’s just waiting on Paulie to approve.

    • Approved. Showing up above my last comment.

That MTB park looks amazing. Pity I have no interest in mountain biking.

And I am definitely in for a Tasty China outing some day, especially if it means sitting on the Deck Mahal and drinking some beer with spicy food.

      • steve says:

We can even invite Barb and Allan!

I can’t get Instagram on the work computer, so I’ll look at that on my iPad.

        • Barb says:

its an old picture – building is looking almost done. (no idea about the inside of it though)

  11. Trying to pay my mother’s house insurance using my iPhone. Looks as if I failed, will have to try using a “real” computer.
