My stupid eyelid continues to bother me, it may be time to relent and make a doctor appointment. I tried buying something at CVS like a reusable warm compress to see if it would help, but it turned out what I bought was shit. This irritating eyelid is making a very irritated me. Aging, if it’s not one thing it at least two others…

As I mentioned in a comment yesterday I renewed the M6’s tag. Remember my search for the mail I thought that I had received from the DMV? Turns out it was an email, not a physical letter. I discovered this scrolling back through my tagged emails when looking for my Dayroom tickets the other night. I’m glad that I have ticked that task of my To Do list.

I will have a little more free time coming this fall. Even if the writers’ strike gets resolved two of the shows I was watching this year — “American Auto”, “Alaska Daily” — have been canceled.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was AWOKE. I probably should have had it in three, or with a little luck two, but it just wasn’t to be,

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 197.8 pounds (+0.6 from last week’s weigh-in); it’s probably all in my fat eyelid.

Wordle in 5 starting with TREAD.

Chores last night after “work”. Debbie was planning to head to Nashville after work today, but decided to leave at O dark 30 tomorrow and day trip it. This is to bring Mickey home and try to sell him herself. The chore was to check air in trailer tires. That and weed whack the driveway.

We wrapped a season of “Suits” last night. It’s an interesting storyline, but some of the characters are a bit much.

Looks like NBC and USA will be broadcasting the Tour. I have 5 days programmed into the DVR. If I wanted to spring for the VPN, I could watch GCN, whose coverage I would likely prefer, but I’m cheap.

You have a very high maintenance driveway, Steve. You have to mow it AND weed whack it? *ducks*

      • steve says:

It’s 125 yards long and I can mow it really close to the fence, but that last bit has to be done with the weed whacker. Debbie will tell you I don’t do it often enough. And it still looks bad as te pasture side is still high. The horses will keep it down, but there are lots of things they won’t eat.

The joys of owning a farm…

I’ve been seeing videos on Instagram of making a weed killing mix of 1 gallon of vinegar, 1 cup of salt, and a couple tablespoons of liquid dishwashing soap. I’m going to try it out on my brick sidewalks next month when I’m in between trips in the middle of the month.

          • steve says:

Much to Debbie’s dismay, I don’t let her spray a lot of chemicals because of the frogs. This might be a better alternative.

          • Barb says:

I’ve heard of that – but I dont’ think it actually works all that well. Let us know if it does!!!!

          • I buy 30% vinegar at Lowe’s and spray it directly on the weeds. It actually kills poison and English ivy as well as grass.

I try to keep it from areas where cats and reptiles inhabit as I fear it may burn them.

        • Jenka says:

It was a joke because Barb made a crack a couple weeks ago about you mowing your driveway.

FTR, having grown up on a farm, I am so glad I left all of those “joys” behind.

      • Yeah, you need goats. 🙂

    • I’m paying for Peacock+, that is how I intend to watch the TdF again this year.

And after pounding LSU on Sunday, your Gaytors were on the receiving end last night. Sorry.

Took me 5 tries to get Wordle this morning. argh. Getting stupid hot out there. My chore list is long…not sure in what order I’ll get them done, if at all. But I will start with testing my creek for the month. GUTS run tonight.

  4. Jenka says:

Well, Paulie, just by going about your normal business yesterday you helped me immensely. I was stressing about getting my tag renewed before the end of the month. So after work I went up to Sage Hill and got my emissions done and then down to Murder Kroger and used the kiosk to renew the tag, easy peasy. The whole thing took less than three minutes! Then I picked up my dog from daycare and made it home to make dinner for the fam. AMAZING.

Wordle in 4 starting with GRAVY. I hate that your eyelid is ginormous. There was some entertainment value in your closing sentence today.

  6. steve says:

Does Sage Hill Kroger have a name? Kosher Kroger is the one farther up Lavista. Co-ed Kroger, maybe?

  7. My days of zucchini overrun may be short. I pulled one of a decent size this morning and it had been nibbled, and infested with worms. The plants probably have vine borers in them too, I probably will pull them once the last few zucchini on them have reached harvesting size.

    • I think that tomorrow I will attempt two zucchini recipes using the ones I’ve already harvested. One recipe is for a savory zucchini bread, the other is for zucchini fritters.

  8. Walked up and met with Betsy and our friend Rob for coffee at Joe’s. Followed Betsy to her house and scored some free produce because she won’t be able to use it before it goes bad. The arrived back at WLF and looked at the state of the farm (wormy zucchini, eaten tomatoes, overripe cucumbers, etc) and am going to labor a little more before it becomes too hot.

Eyelid willing, I will be cycling tonight.

  9. Barb says:

Tried to go to bingo last night at St Patrick’s – I guess they are closing down playing there – it was packed so we didn’t even go inside. Instead went to a place for BOGO Broasted Chicken (its seems jsut like fried chicken by teh skin, but I don’t know how they do it). It was tasty & the place has pizza too, so we got a medium pizza incase mom or dad didn’t want chicken.

    • Bummer that you couldn’t go to bingo. Over the past ten or so years the number of places in Florida at which you can play bingo has diminished. I’m not sure why, since a new crop of older Floridians is created every year or so.

  10. Barb says:

been going thru some of moms dresser drawers today- way too much ugly costume jewelry – but – found a bunch of baggies with coins & some cash. We need to count it all., Got 3 big garbage bags of clothes to donate (so far) too.

    Go ride your bike!
