Fairly average day yesterday.

Yesterday I came to the realization that it’s nearly the end of July and I have not had any okra from WLF this summer. In fact, the plants out there are not even close to producing pods. Bummer.

I did wander up to Midway last night and met Betsy to watch the first half of the women’s USA soccer match. On my walk home I saw what I believe were two raccoons running across Flat Shoals Av, not far from WLF and wondered if they were responsible for the paw prints I saw at the bottom of a water basin this week.

This morning I have a CHaRM appointment. Admittedly I don’t have a great deal of things to take, but I am going to see if I can follow David’s lead by taking a box for Goodwill donation in addition to my small amounts of styrofoam, glass, chemicals, and scrap metal.

Health Update:
eyelid = intermittently problematic
back = still a pain point, scared to get diagnosis but will soon
armpits = seem to be clearing up on their own

I solved today’s Wordle in three attempts; my starter today was SPLIT. My timing was a bit off again, this time today’s solution was a word that I used as a starter very recently.

wordle in 5, starting with GRAIN, which didn’t do much good.

The previously well timed (for Atlanta) traffic lights along Juniper/Courtland were slightly off yesterday. One by the Hilton and another by the capitol. And while the speed limit is 35, it took every bit of 45 to stay in sync when they were running well. And it was pouring as I went through Union City, but all we heard was the thunder.

George and Fig went on walkabout up the road. I watched them stop at the neighbors who are building their house- slowly in their spare time. I walked up and spoke with them for a minute. As the dogs were still having fun, I left and they almost beat me home.

A half hour on the trainer before watching some stalker show called “You” which we won’t go back to, then the USA vs Ned. Seemed to be a loosely called match.

    • It wasn’t the most compelling soccer match I’ve ever watched, perhaps because the teams seemed evenly matched?

I currently have no series I am watching. I’m considering “Silo” on AppleTV, and should probably scan the other services for which I pay. Betsy wants me to get (HBO)max — I still can’t believe they dropped the best part of that name — for a month so we can watch “Succession” while she is away, but there is no free trial and I am too cheap to add another service to my list, even if I cancel at month’s end.

Stay tuned to this space because tomorrow I will relate a different service cancellation story.

      Really? Debbie didn’t like YOU?
      I still need to watch the 3rd season, I liked the 1st 2, He’s a great stalker.
      Maybe I’ll start it today.

I did something different last night – went to see Wicked with a group of friends.
I’m not a huge musical fan, or a Wizard of Oz fan, but it was fun.
We also went to a restaurant a few blocks from the Fox called Bon Ton – it was a New Orleans / Vietnamese fusion place. It had an interesting menu.

Allan has been working on putting up some new “blinds” to block the view of our close next door neighbor. That old lady had the weirdest back yard project – it is always changing, never gets done & is just horrible torn up looking. So, he decided he’d install these blinds so we can shut them when we really don’t want to see her yard.
Of course he decided to use cedar wood (not cheap) but they should last forever.

Didn’t watch any Futbol last night – lots of people we know were at the Benz for some Premier league games.

  3. Nearly a perfect CHaRM trip, except I forgot to bring the donation items and had an Altoids tin I wanted to toss in the metal scrap heap.

I watched the Red Sox SWEEP the Braves last night and then retired to the bedroom. I hope the ladies won but I’m not staying up to watch it.

During the 2010 FIFA World Cup I watched every single game at Midway.

Went to the Premier League games at the Benz last night. Good times but LONG day! We took Laura’s parents so getting to and from was painfully slow. They had fun so it was totally worth it.
The level of play is so above MLS it is just crazy, and Miggy scoring was definitely a highlight of the night.
Getting ready for a Pisgah camping/riding weekend. I need to remember all the crap I need to bring for tent camping. Good thing food and beer are close by 🙂

Just bought a plane ticket to Iowa -Friday 9/15 thru Tues 10/3.
Long story I can tell in person, but my brother will need a month of coverage. My sister will fly in I think Sunday 10/1 thru 10/15.
    But – excellent price – only $318

    Wordle in 4.

Hallelujah for a couple nights of good rest. I feel like healing will really speed up now that I can sleep. I’m completely boring/bored otherwise.

  8. Barb says:

    Hey Paulie –
I’m wearing my $50 free t-shirt from the Iowa Craft Beer group today. I hear its up to a $70 or even $80 dollar free t-shirt now.

  9. Making lunch, a lentil stew that contains carrots, jalapeños, and sweet peppers, from WLF. This makes me happy.

  10. Jenka says:

The house next door to me just went on the market. I am very nervous about who is going to buy it. Their house is like 7 feet from mine!

  11. Did I just eat corn on the cob grown in WLF? Yes, yes I did!
