Thanks to Jenka I made Paulietouille last night based on this Food Network ratatouille recipe. I didn’t have any fresh tomatoes nor zucchini, so I substituted canned tomatoes and yellow squash. The dish contained eggplant, peppers, and yellow squash from WLF. The resulting meal was good, though not something I’d make often.

After the colossal collapse of the NY Mets this year I was pumped for the start of the NFL season with Aaron Rodgers as the NY Jets quarterback. While I didn’t expect Aaron Rodgers to lead the Jets to the Super Bowl, I did expect him to play more than one offensive series without suffering a potentially season-ending injury. I will die before the Jets ever win another Super Bowl, of this I am now certain. Somehow the Jets came back to win in overtime (long after I had turned off the tv), thus winning the battle but most likely losing the war. I could only wish that another mediocre season for one of my sports teams was my biggest concern.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was CURSE.

Wordle in 5, starting with TREAD.

The man cave is now ready to receive 100 bales of hay tomorrow. Last nights workout was moving the 28 bales from last years’ load farther back and restacked. I do love me a good upper body workout (not) but it wasn’t too bad. A little help from the tractor.

Tonight is the first of weekly Games meetings until we light the fuse. Hopefully, these will be quick but necessary. I’m sure you’re all making plans to attend on 10/21,22.

  2. At the Waschsalon. Moreland Avenue had the heaviest traffic I’ve seen since early 2020. And for some reason the Dunkin Donuts no longer draws a crowd, because of the location they opened a couple miles south?

    Connections perfect, Mini in 1:09

could not figure out the 1st category in Connections – 2 misses, then got all 4 rows after that.
Mini – again – could not figure out a couple of them – 2 minutes.
Wordle – not bad – took me 4.

    • Jenka says:

Connections perfect. It’s either completely impossible or stupidly easy. I like the easy ones!

Total is a teeth cleaning day. Wordle in 4, Mini in 43, only one strike on Connections.

I’m awaiting word from my editor that my part of book #6 is done.

  4. OH YEAH, today is Apple iPhone announcement day!

Glad the Paulietouille came out okay! I am not a fan of eggplant but I like ratatouille.

I think literally everyone in the world expected Aaron Rodgers to take a dive last night. They started talking about it as soon as the deal was announced. Yesterday afternoon someone on Twitter posted, “Aaron Rodgers is going to tear his Achilles heel in 2.5 hours.” At least he didn’t let us down!

    • Barb says:

wow – I do wonder how bad he is actually hurt.
(or, has he become a soccer player with that flop?)

We watched the the ManningCast on Espn2 for the 2nd half. If you like serious commentators, its not for you, but I enjoy it. They had Ryan Fitzpatrick as the guest. I really wish he had a better mike, I think he said some good stuff but sometimes it was a little muffled.

    • I was stunned the Jets won, given I turned off the tv in the first quarter and finished my jigsaw puzzle instead.

    • Jenka says:

Full tear of the Achilles heel, and he is officially out for the season. HAH!

  6. Trying to find a one night accommodation near Athens for 9/30. There is a show that night I want to attend and hope not to make the drive home that night. Even though it’s not a UGA home game Saturday (they will be in Auburn) all hotels and AirBnBs are priced as if it is. IMO

  7. Barb says:

btw – hash started last night at Brownwood Park, if you feel like trying to see where it went. I can tell you the end – if you want it.

    • Thanks.

Ah, good to see Brownwood Park being Moonlite Central again. Stan started a trail from there less than a month ago. Perhaps I will go out for a walk and follow trail? No need to tell me the end. I’m sure I follow at least one Monday Nighter on Strava if I lose trail.

  8. WLF Update:
    – most pepper plants, hot and sweet are producing well
    – long eggplant plants have a few more to harvest, pulled small eggplant in since their plant seems to have bitten the dust
    – picked four more okra pods of varying varieties, finally have enough to fry up with a meal
    – NC collards look all but dead. They have the ghostly appearance of plants which were treated with weed killer, which they were not…

Wordle in 3 starting with CHUNK.

  10. Lunch is a meatless burger with a WLF jalapeño topping, served with a side of pan fried WLF okra.

Wordle in 3 starting with GLOBE. One mistake in Connections.

I was very little help with moving the hay. I think slinging hay is still outside my capabilities.

I started watching Veronica Mars last night. I can tell I’m going to like it. Retro tv for the win. At risk of ridicule, I’m going to admit to never seeing an episode of Breaking Bad or Mad Men. I’ve got those to look forward to.

    • Never seen any Breaking Bad, but have seen all of a Mad Men.

    • Barb says:

Never seen Veronica Mars, or Breaking Bad. I have seen some episodes of Mad Men, but it wasn’t something I watched very much.

    • David says:

Breaking Bad is one of the greatest TV series ever made, in my opinion. If you like it you’ll also like Better Call Saul, which has a slower pacing, but it still great. Have you seen The Wire?

I liked Mad Men until I didn’t. It started out incredibly good, but then seemed to lose its mojo over time.

My kids and I started watching Suits. My daughter is pretty certain she wants to go to law school, so she’s eating it up. My son is more like “meh”.
